    Hi mate, those Naked Viking HP keels look spot on….what other FCS fins are similar? I can’t get the N Vikings in the UK….

      Hi Matthew. Your probably best to stick with the Modern Keel, Machado or AMK if your FCS2 as the base connection is better. Captain fin co have heaps of options if your only twin tab. You can compare fin specs for surface area etc. Modern keel is probably the most performance then if you need a bit bigger you can look at the AMK or Machado. Depends on your weight and the board too. Cheers. The Naked Viking performance keel I think you can only see specs on Surf N Shows own website. Cheers.

      @@lawson45uk 👍….I’ve had the modern keels. I’m looking for a fin with slightly less area, still with a wide base but some fin taken out of the back part if the that makes sense…I’ve got the Power Twins so something half way between them and the modern keels….

      Yeah that does make perfect sense though I think the Modern Keel could actually be a little smaller than the Performance keel. The Modern Keel is basically the Christenson template in Captain fin too so I suspect if you go through their models you can probably find something suitable. I would lean towards going Futures for twin fin boards as the choices are a lot better and your not stuck with the old school twin tab FSC1 bases due to copyright.

    Looks great. Leash plug quite far forward, keel fins far back and a thick tail could make it very stiff. This means you need to be careful to place a tail pad right up against the plug. Maybe use a grip with a split tail kick and put the grip either side of the plug.

      Cheers mate. Fair points for sure, thanks for your input. I did consider that actually but I don't tend to get my foot miles back on the pad myself and not putting a pad on this but I use the Creatures fish one if I do and thats a 2 piece centre so can split around the leash plug if necessary or mod the arch on a different one. Just didn't want it looking ugly out on the pins. Had the same dilema on my RNF Retro after watching reviews but realised the guys reviewing are ex pros on tiny boards so shaper said not quite the same issue for me and its never been a problem. Again i'm average at best surfer unfortunately.
      Fin placement I used from my serial keeler as it's the best twin I have ridden for me personally. I dont like / not advanced enough surfer for a super spillery twinny so like them a decent way back. Also same distance on CI fish and even further back on DHD fish did a bit of production board check up first too ;-) Cheers mate thanks for watching and always happy to hear constructive feedback :-)

      @@lawson45uk yeah if you're not getting your foot against the kick probably doesn't matter so much but your surfing will improve so much though if you work on getting it back behind the fins, especially backhand on a twin. Main reason people struggle backhand on keels is feet not far back enough. Watch Mr Salas' pad placement, he turned me on to the idea of putting the kick either side of the plug. Works so well.

      @@onshore1ft Yeah 100% mate. Definitely something i'm working on and having the boards a bit shorter certainly helps. i'm only like 5'7" so when i'm on the oversized 6'4"s or like a 6'2" fish to get the volume I need for my ability and the slow local waves it's harder to get foot placement right. 6'0" and under it's much easier. Having a pad does help you know where your at too. With my own shapes I like to have a ride first and see which ones suit me best first as I can't keep them all :-) lol so have to make some decisions and sell some then dial in my keepers. One of my major problems too I tend to be surfing different boards all the time when I should really get just a few dialed.

    Great board !! What do you think about Rasta keels ?

    • @lawson45uk
      @lawson45uk  Před 3 lety

      Cheers buddy. Yeah I like the Rasta keels theft a little longer and more area set back behind the box so can be a little more tracky but make lots of speed. White possibly a good option to calm down a slippery twin too also hearing good things about the true Ames Hobie though not ridden them myself. I think the Christenson keels and FCS modern keel are a good middle ground for most midium to large riders in medium to high volume boards. After that the ci/Machado/ Rasta etc are the ones to crank up the drive power and hold 🤙🤙

    How did it go and what fins did you prefer?

    • @lawson45uk
      @lawson45uk  Před 3 lety +2

      Yeah went pretty good thanks. I prefer the CI Keels myself but others would be big enough. The Christenson and Modern Keel and Machados also nice templates. I'm so much more used to Quads too I often fins twins still quite slippery by comparison. Probably a lot to do with my poor ability and needing a lot of volume mostly unfortunately :-) lol Sold that one to a guy that's really enjoying it in the end so he's probably doing it more justice than I would have done. Cheers.
