I'd also love to see you go back in time & take a stab at some random older classics that have wide-open build potential like Jeleva & whatnot. My friends and I were talking about good vehicle commanders, a buddy wanted to build one and we thought Kykar was kinda great. Casting vehicles triggers Kykar's token making ability since they aren't creature spells, and you can use the tokens to crew the vehicles.
Heck yeah! Love all these build ideas! I bought the precon, ripped it apart, i own 37 of the 48 or so vehicles(the rest on order) filled it with pilots, artificers, cost reducers and sram ofcourse! This deck is gonna be offroad, onroad, down the river, off the tracks sheer road rage! Cant wait to splatter mofos all over the windshield! Funny enough i wasnt gonna build this deck but after going through my cards- all my cards- i was hellbent on burning some rubber! Im curious if there will be vehicles in capenna- ill be all over it! Even ordered the manabase out of the TBD nebula lands so its gonna be so sick! Just dont get sick in the rides lol ill open a window but i aint stoppin! Roflmfao! Love ya!
I have a greasefang deck that works that way. The guys in my playgroup we're surprised about how good she is and looks at vehicles in a different way now. 😂 I wrecked the whole table with parhelion

I might be biased, but Hinata just seems so dynamic and exciting, I see it becoming very popular, very soon. That new pup, Yoshimaru, Ever Faithful, seems versatile by partnering with whatever other creature you want!
Great video! I already copped the deck because it seems right up my alley. I'm building it in the style of vehicles, maybe switching the face commander for Shorikai as such, but another casual way I found to be quite fun with Kotori herself is artifact creature exalted! (might be handy to squeeze something like Angelic Exaltation and Sublime Archangel into the one-way lane strategy, to ensure your "champion" gets buffed even more as they swing in!)
I have this Pre-Con except I have built it with Tameshi Reality Architect (not included) and it is turning out to be awesome! Recurtion built right into the commander. Also Rebbec is bomb in this deck too.
I think the lifegain subtheme has some overlooked potential. Things that care about gaining you life, especially the ones that give you creatures or pump them, can work really well! I really like the idea of combat control too, cards like nemesis mask could be great.
definitely. I posed an infinite life combo short - i think people are going to mostly overlook the vigi/lifelink when they build but will see the strength when they play it.
I know I'm a little late but a whole bunch of these cards are already in the deck like Sram, Foundry Inspectors and Parhelion 2. Speaking of, Parhelion and Shorikai can be cheated into play with Anchor to Reality from Neon Dynasty.
I’ve been experimenting with vehicle decks in those colors (Alela, Sydri, Silas/Rebbec), and have come to the conclusion that, unless you are planning on staying around battlecruiser with it, there’s not really many game ending strategies to build into it to make it viable in higher powers, unless you plan to build in generic artifact deck combo wincons that don’t rely on the main strategy at all. Akroma’s will is about as good as it gets. The best vehicle commander I’ve found has been Jor Kadeen in Boros as there are better ways to pump your creatures to swing in for the kill out of no where plus there are more haste enablers, which are necessary for the deck strategy. Even with your artifact reducers, spending all that mana to play a vehicle and having it sit there a whole turn cycle really holds things back and gives the board plenty of ways to deal with/play around it. That’s just my opinion though after playing with them at a low power level. There’s probably better ways of powering it up I’m just not thinking of as I’d consider myself a novice commander player/deck builder. I really like the vehicles and have wanted to build around them for quite some time now. I just feel wotc still didn’t do enough of a good job powering them up in this set. I like the pilot synergies and the reduction of the crew costs, but they just didn’t add enough pilot token generators or more splashy bombs to close out the game in that way. Is that a fair opinion?
definitely. going JUST vehicles probably doesnt set this apart from a regular aggro deck. you'd have to build in a stronger wincon around those with cards that support artifact creatures I would imagine.
I've built my deck around Alela, Artful Provacateur, with vehicles as a subtheme. Its not the BEST vehicle commander, but does boost the creature you get when you play those vehicles. I might lean harder into it, with maybe a dozen new cards that fit well.
@@RowanHeartwood, yea she’s about as good as it gets when it comes to vehicle synergies. She provides so much value and supports the theme well. The only downside I’ve found with her is that she naturally draws so much hate even with moderate protection because of her value. The vehicle strategy slows her down in the long run. You’re better off running an artifact storm or faerie tribal theme.
so which strategy would you put the infinite combo in? I assume the strong one since combo is the best way to win. for thoose that haven't seen the short Jake and joel did, Kotori goes infinite with walking ballista + light of promise :)
Not understanding why they put 'Indomitable Archangel' in the deck. It can really wreck Kotori's strategy by giving vehicles 'Shroud' instead of hexproof.
Playing my last commander game, I noticed that Kotori says 'target artifact creature' not artifact. Is a vehicle considered an artifact creature? or just an artifact as it states on the card. If it's not an artifact creature, then it seems like Kotori doesn't synergize much with vehicles aside from the crew 2.
Vehicles become artifact creatures until end of turn when they are crewed or animated by an effect such as mech hangar but be careful crewing shorikai as he will be a target and is susceptible to creature kill spells, as an artifact he is much safer and its better to use him for card draw, pilot creation and as a finisher if you can protect him and better yet- give him some form of evasion like flying trample etc.
I’ll be building the Gundam “sub-commander” that’s also in this set, after seeing mechtitan, I just want a giant robot kaiju fighting deck at the table!

We have a lot of dogs in the neighborhood, including ours, so I first thought it was that, but only heard the sound when the video was playing. It has a similar sound (lol). I would request to remove that sound, but I'm subbing because I do like your content.

The other cool interaction with Kitori and Sky Sovereign is that she gives it Lifelink so you get to gain 3 on it’s deal 3 attack trigger

I just started play Magic and bought the Kotori Commander deck and it comes with Sram, pretty sweet.

Depala, Pilot Exemplar is a Commander who loves Sram too. The O.G. Vehicle Commander
I’d say Sram, is pretty important to have in Syr Gwyn, it helps your hand keep up a little bit while you play all your low cost knights and Equipment

Manifestation counter doesn't do anything but remind you. You can still move it around or remove it though.

Losheel seems pretty good in the deck in my opinion.
