      Hi
      No loss of prefrormanc.
      According to the manufacturer's recommendation, in the area of 50,000 km, a valve clearance test should be performed. I received the motorcycle (a second one) with 66,000 km, when this test was not performed on it. So I had to do it.
      Besides, already at this stage there was a problem of hard starting in the morning, when the engine was cold, and lean fuel mixtureI, so I thought that maybe it was also related to the adjustment of the valves.
      I am currently in the process of general overhaul of the upper engine, because the problem got worse and it turned out that there is a decrease in compression and a slight oil leak into the combustion chamber.

      As a principle, these valves have no tendency to go out of adjustment, and in my case, the deviation I found is relatively minor. A sporty rider who grabs every drop of extra power would probably feel the difference.

      I have the model without ABS, so I did not go into studying this topic in depth.
      You can enter the CBR250-dot-net forum, and search there.
      If you are into the hobby of do-it-yourself mechanics, you must purchase the appropriate literature for yourself, it is not relatively expensive. Sometimes a copy of Honda's original book is floating around the internet for free, so you can try your luck, but I think there's a copyright issue here, so I really don't recommend it.
      On eBay you will find a second hand original copy, it is really not so expensive. And of course there is the excellent Haynes guide.

      @mycbr250rdmotorcycling7  Před 10 měsíci +4

      Hi. I'm sorry to hear about that.
      Mistakes like this can happen to anyone.
      If it's a metallic noise, or a noise that indicates improper assembly, etc., don't start the engine again!
      In such a situation there is no choice but to open the valve cover again and see where the repair is going wrong. There are many possibilities, I won't try to guess them all. And it is possible that something else broke regardless of the good current fix, so-called, just a bad luck.
      If you don't have the time and patience, give the job to a mechanic who has time and patience, otherwise instead of repairing you only do more damage.

      Hi
      A metallic noise indicates a problem that should not be neglected. A metallic noise from the top of the engine can come from any of the moving parts. Timing chain, chain tensioner, worn rocker bearings or pivots...worn valve seats or guid...and many others.
      You have to check until the problem is found. Running an engine that has a mechanical fault may increase damage!
      Don't hesitate to contact a qualified mechanic you trust on.

      It is difficult to impossible to draw conclusions from a compression test on a single cylinder engine. It's pointless, the generic and cheap equipment is not accurate in the results. It is unnecessary.
      Other signs are checked, let's say a plug wet from oil, smoke coming out of the exhaust, and so on.

    • @mycbr250rdmotorcycling7
      @mycbr250rdmotorcycling7  Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@pradeeppatil8791
      Incorrect measurement of the valve clearance will lead to incorrect selection of shims. Valves that are not adjusted according to the specification cause a decrease in engine power, and in the case of a significant deviation from the specification, the large deviation from the specification causes an accelerated worn. One "station" out of specification (0.025 mm), does not create immediate damage, just please do not neglect it, and fix it at the next opportunity.
      Adjusting valves is an operation that requires a lot of work, precise work, a lot of patience, and high mechanical skill, and if mistakes are made, this operation also has the potential for great damage. It is recommended to give such work to an expert in the field.

      Hi. You will find shims at any motorcycle spare parts supplier. It goes by diameter and by thickness. There are suppliers who sell shims only in 0.05mm increments, and there are suppliers who sell the full range, which is in 0.025mm increments. Original shims cost more. I found the cheapest deal on AliExpress, they sold me a set of five shims in increments of 0.025, let's say: 1.950, 1.975, 1.100, 1.125, 1.150. In any case, it is necessary to check the thickness with a micrometer, to avoid unpleasant surprises.

    • @mycbr250rdmotorcycling7
      @mycbr250rdmotorcycling7  Před měsícem

      Not for sure. But in principle it is possible.
      Not the end of the world, with a lot of patience and work time it's not that bad.
      You must find the shims that fell in, it must not be left traveling in the engine.
      1. It is possible that it is hiding inside the engine head.
      2. It is possible that it fell into the timing chain area, maybe stuck on the chain?
      3. It is possible that it stopped under the right engine case (then you have to open the right engine case)
      4. And yes, it is possible that it rolled up to the crankshaft box.
      The openings through which it rolls in, it is possible to extract the shims through those openings, but it requires a lot of patience. A magnet caught on a very flexible wire helps, maybe a borescope?
      I hope it will find somewhere easy to get to.
      Maybe this video will give you a hint where to look, and how to prevent it from happening again (before replacing shims, it is recommended to close the engine head openings, at the top of the engine, with paper or a towel):

      Sir, as a rule, the openings and passageways at the engine head drain engine oil to the opening of the timing chain.
      Is there also an opening on the left side? Because the timing chain opening is on the right side.
      Above, at the center, there is the bore for the exhaust manifold, and the opening for the plug, but these two bore are in the center of the engine head and not on the side. You can ask, and also upload pictures, etc., in the forum cbr250r point net.
      In principle, any opening that is larger than the dimensions of the shims the shims can enter and pass through.

      Disassembling the top connector leaves most of the fuel in the pipe.
      But you are right, next time I will try to disassemble the lower connector.
      Because of the difficulty access, there are those who broke the tube of the fuel pump.
      If the tube of the lower connector is damaged, it is much easier and cheaper to replace the tube there.

      Yes. The role of the weights(bar ends) is to prevent vibrations.

      The installation of the valve guides requires special equipment, as well as high technical ability in extracting the damaged guides, and inserting the new guides at the correct height.
      Even if you replace the valve guides you will still be left with the used valve seats, and you will be left with the used mating mounts for both camshafts, so it also depends what their condition too?
      Why did you decide to replace the guides, did you measure the inner diameter with special equipment? Or do they have noticeable mechanical damage?
      Replacing the main head part, the engine head, is also a matter of budget.

For example: it happens that assembly does not go as it should, or a new fault appears. It can sometimes be a frustrating process..., But from hobby we should be enjoy…🤭😳
