Leomon has been a mainstay of the franchise for so long that I feel he DESERVES to be a protagonist partner in an anime where he gets to have his own digivolution animations and a FULL line and all that...I would prefer him not to die, but if he gets the full protagonist treatment, maybe he can have a sacrifice at the end or a rebirth like Patamon.
Digimon seemingly loves to treat Leomon as Qui-Gon Jinn in almost every season he’s in. Adventure, Tamers, Data Squad. Always a pivotal moment when he goes down
People said that Adventure 2020 broke the tradition of Leomon's death, but I think that Xros wars did it first. Yes, Mad Leomon was killed but he was reborn as Leomon and that Leomon survived (somehow).
If we're counting instances where he got revived, then Adventure 1999 did it first. It was confirmed that he was reborn off-screen and he later showed up in Tri. A leomon also makes a cameo in 02's finale as one of the international Digidestind's partners, and never dies.
I always liked SaberLeomon because I always want more quadruped digimon, but it became one of my all time favorites when watching Savers because I hadn't noticed the digital marks on its tusks before somehow. I just think it's such a neat detail!
I really like the Digievolution line of Liollmon --> Leomon --> LoaderLiomon --> HeavyLeomon. Also MadLeomon: Armed Mode fusion with Rebellimon anyone? Could also be cool seeing those two fight one another.

One thing that made me love Digimon was looking into Panjyamon and learning that it Digivolved when a Leomon trained so hard in an icy region that it absorbed the power of that region and tempered itself into having incredible defence and adding ice to the Fist of the Beast King. Having the Digimon's lives and the decisions they make about how to get stronger affect which line they go through was a really cool idea to me. Made even cooler when I found out that Grappleomon used fighting game data to turn itself into a break dancing,. kung-fu, cyclotron.
Unrelated but have you considered a video on unseen partners? I read that there was a radio drama where Davis' sister and Joe's brother got partner Digimon but we weren't told what they were. Not sure what other examples would fit but it may be an interesting topic
Rather than make the original a Ruin Mode, I think that UltimateChaosmon should have something akin to a Stable or Compressed Mode. Upper half of Chaosmon itself, wings from Valdur Arm, and the legs of Sleipmon.

The way I see it, a line could go from Leomon to Madleomon with a final dark mega OR if they keep madleomon as a champion his ultimate could be Machleomon with a final dark mega as well
So I will say Leomon is _easily_ one of my absolute favorite Digimon period, and I would absolutely love a Tamer/main character to have him or his line as a partner Digimon. He's also one of those Digimon where, to me, I can accept a color swap being a separate level/form of Leomon. Even if it's not my favorite idea. But still I adore Leomon, BanchoLeomon, SaberLeomon and now HeavyLeomon.
My fave Leomon keeps going back and forth between HeavyLeomon and MadLeomon. But it's more often HeavyLeomon. Gods I hope they put it in the next Story game!
My first (non-Numemon) Champion-level partner in Digimon World was a Leomon. I was so relieved when I got him since you really have no idea if you're going to get a proper Champion or just another Numemon in that game. Not only was getting him a stroke of luck in and of itself, he really boosted me through a huge chunk of the game, too! For a Leomon, I'd say passing away from old age is about as good as it gets. After that, I got cursed by a long string of multiple Tyranomon in a row who ate me out of house and home... I still love that species as well, though. They're just very high-maintenance. Also, I must say: MachLeomon looks amazing! Looking at him makes me imagine that he's the Akuma to OG Leomon's Ryu (or the Akuma to MadLeomon's Oni), where he's got some sense of personal honor that keeps his bloodthirsty desire for combat in check.

The idea is that the components are just incompatible, so Chaosmon is what happens when incompatible Digimon try to fuse (Omnimon being the same case, but he's good instead). So giving more representation of its components would basically go against the concept of the 'Mon. Keeping all arms is the best they could do to improve the design.
I'd honestly love to see a series where Leomon and Ogremon are partner digimon, or more accurately Goblimon/Goburimon and a more custom Rookie for Leomon (nothing against Liolmon or Elecmon) and eventually see Leomon and Ogremon or Saberleomon and Titamon DNA Digivolve to create Heraclmon/Herculmon
I never knew leomon had so many variants, I totally forgot about the manga ones and replaced them with the anime counterparts in my memory somehow. Leomon x is definitely my favorite tho, really just gives off the warrior leomon has always felt like to me

I really hope to see a perfected ultimate chaosmon... in the concept of deliberated chaos... like "there can't be order without chaos existing" bc chaosmon is a bug of the system, a thing that cannot be... and it grows stronger and stronger consuming more and more data... but then all that absolute chaos gets in order... the system (yggdrasil) cannot maintain the countermesures and then make a program that insted kill ultimate chaosmon, "order" his chaos encapsuling it in his body, and then having a mind as every digimon (cuz chaos is mad and crazy normally) perfected chaosmon with the crest of digital hazard on his exposed digicores (now with 4 colors, representing every chaosmon part), is a propper sentient digimon again... following a bit that story of alter S, starting with omegamon then swart, swart D, alter B and then alter S, regaining his mind on every step after Swart D... make the same with chaosmon would be REALLY cool

I know in the Digimon world 2003 game, Kumamon's line went Kumamon, Grizzmon, Grapleomon and finally Loaderleomon. And yes, I'm still calling him Kumamon as to me, Bearmon's Kumamon came out before Digimon Frontiers Kumamon came out. They should've called Frontiers one Snow Kumamon.

Personally I always hated Panjyamon, not for the design, but for it being an Ultimate. Had it been a fellow Champion variant (like Agumon, SnowAgumon, BlackAgumon, etc. are all Rookie variants) I would have loved it, but they went with the Gotsumon>Icemon>Meteormon logic where each evolution were just visually recoloured version of Gotsumon.

I really hope to see a perfected ultimate chaosmon... in the concept of deliberated chaos... like "there can't be order without chaos existing" bc chaosmon is a bug of the system, a thing that cannot be... and it grows stronger and stronger consuming more and more data... but then all that absolute chaos gets in order... the system (yggdrasil) cannot maintain the countermesures and then make a program that insted kill ultimate chaosmon, "order" his chaos encapsuling it in his body, and then having a mind as every digimon (cuz chaos is mad and crazy normally) perfected chaosmon with the crest of digital hazard on his exposed digicores (now with 4 colors, representing every chaosmon part), is a propper sentient digimon again... following a bit that story of alter S, starting with omegamon then swart, swart D, alter B and then alter S, regaining his mind on every step after Swart D... make the same with chaosmon would be REALLY cool

SaberLeomon I'm pretty sure has only been an ultimate(perfect) in things that don't have megas in them, it was always basically intended as a mega

So you chose Dorumon as your partner so did I. What does your evolve into mine is Dorugoramon love that dragon it saved my butt in Cyber Sleuth and became one of my favorite Digimon...more so than BlackWarGreymon who was my favorite for a long time. Love my Dark Data Ultimate Enemy Dragon. Great to see someone else who likes his evolution line as well. Does yours follow the Dorugreymon line or something else?

I know in the Digimon world 2003 game, Kumamon's line went Kumamon, Grizzmon, Grapleomon and finally Loaderleomon. And yes, I'm still calling him Kumamon as to me, Bearmon's Kumamon came out before Digimon Frontiers Kumamon came out. They should've called Frontiers one Snow Kumamon.

to me is the oposite, I don't see Elecmon as member of the Leomon species at all, to me Liomon is the default Leomon rookie, Elecmon has Aegiomon to Juptermon as their claim to fame

Personally I always hated Panjyamon, not for the design, but for it being an Ultimate. Had it been a fellow Champion variant (like Agumon, SnowAgumon, BlackAgumon, etc. are all Rookie variants) I would have loved it, but they went with the Gotsumon>Icemon>Meteormon logic where each evolution were just visually recoloured version of Gotsumon.
As a kid I loved leomon because I'm a Leo so kid brain was like he was made for me lol
What about the apollomon line? They are lion types too. I can see leomon digivolving to flaremon or firamon then to Saberleomon.
Too removed to count as Leomon-species but a cool set of Digimon :)
