By the way, I like this routine and Shawn's and Sam's/Alicia's. They all showcased their own strengths, like a lyrical dancer, two latin jazz dancers and a jazz dancer would. They are all amazing gymnasts, and as a dancer, I don't think it's cheesy to see them integrating their gymnastics with different styles of dance and showing us routines we wouldn't see at a gymnastics competition.
Onodi might not have been the 1st one to perform it, but the rule is that to be official, a new element has to be declared to the FIG, and performed 2 times at the Word Championships or at the Olympics. Only then it takes the gymnast's name. So Onodi was probably the 1st gymnast to fulfil all those requirements.
Well in France we had a beautiful show with Nadia Comaneci, and you will host the World Championships in London this year, that's not so bad ! And maybe we don't have big displays very often where superstar gymnasts like to show off, but we have other assets in Europe ! ;)
I agree. it really does fit her personality. Alouugh I'm not surprised because she was born in russia and her gymnastics style and ballet are very russian, and obviously the music is by th emost famous russian composer of all time! nastia is beautiful ;O)
On the beam It is called the "Onodi", from the Hungarian gymnast Henrietta Onodi, who invented that move. I don't think it has any special name on the floor, I would just say "Onodi" or "back flip half twist".
I love Nastia...however, I wonder if she can "back tumbling"like a simple double back or a full-in? That would be kewl to see her do a double salto, oppose to her double front...., just one...just to say she can do it...
gymnastics floor routines are supposed to have dance and ARTISTRY. shawn always neglected that and has been criticized for it. its called ARTISTIC gymnastics. power tumbling is a different sport.
If you just watched sometimes outside your borders, you would see that the rest of the world has great artists, competitors and productions, at least as good as you can have in your country. Your country by the way that is not "America" but "USA" (America is a continent, not a country).

I didn't say that anyone else was not American. And it would sound stupid to call ourselves "United Statesians".
Nastia does have to get back into shape, not in weight wise though. She just looks a little sloppy and what did she call her back-layout stap out; it was awful. I 110% hope she returns for competition this year because i'm going to the World's to watch the Women's All-Around Final, and i desparatley hope she's there! She's a great gymnast! Go Nastia!

This is a fact recognised by a huge majority of countries except... well except USA of course ! So you have no right to steal the word "American" or "North-American" only for yourselves, as there are at least 3 countries on your subcontinent in case you forgot your geography. So please find a specific name for your people & read this on Wikipedia: WikipediaAmerican_(word)
