    Solid, my dude, there's definitely a lot of options with when/how much you combine between the airbrush + drybrush stage, weirdly I actually think there is room for:
    Airbrush base
    Stipple
    'Dot' Airbrush highlights
    Drybrush edges
    Grime
    Something I'd like to test some time for sure, with a good airbrush it should be doable to dot.

    • @odinswolf1969

      go for it Byron, looking forward to it

    • @FauxHammer
      @FauxHammer  Před 2 lety

      Cheers B, It’s definitely possible, I’ve done it on a few models but I struggle with aim and paint consistency. The dot highlights look amazing but if they are off or over sprayed. It can ruin a model quick.
      Much More practise needed for me, but still probably wouldn’t add them on my vids as that’s more skill, and I want to stick to easy techniques for beginners.

    I'm trying oil paint for the first time, should I let the paint dry between two layers of oil paint or can I go for the second layer immediately after the previous one is wiped off?

    • @FauxHammer
      @FauxHammer  Před 2 měsíci

      It depends. If you want it to mix and modulate, then let it stay wet. But if you want the colours directly seperate. Leave it Uk dry. But the spirits used to thin it can reactivate the dry paint fir days after the first paint

      @FauxHammer if you make a small hole in the squeeze side and cover it with your finger when drawing paint in then release it when you want to fill your airbrush it works better I've found. doesn't work as well with non airbrush paints though.

    Thanks for this, really masterpiece in my world. Problem I had is: I might have watered it down not enough, but I can't wipe the first oil stage off that easily you Do it. Plus even so I varnished it, somehow the copper went off too when I worked with the sponge. So this first marine is ruined, what did I Do wrong? Is it really only it was too thick? I used it on the spacewolves terminators, maybe they are to edgy and detailed for this? Help appreciated to prevent further pain

      Yes I used Abt. 502 shadow brown like you BUT as I said maybe I put it on too thick OR/AND the varnish didnt Do its Job. I just bought me some white spirit and try the next one, this time I will use q Tipps as well. I only left it on 10 minutes because I was afraid that I would Not get it off later. Maybe this has been the Problem as well. I' ll keep trying cause it looks so easy when you wipe it off. BTW again: great Video, awesome outcome and I subscribed right after watching it.

    Great video, just out of interest, what's the difference between the Citadel Air colour, and normal citadel paint diluted down for the airbrush?

    • @FauxHammer
      @FauxHammer  Před 2 lety +2

      Good question! absolutely nothing that I've noticed. this just saved me having to dilute each and every paint. Feel free to ilute normal citadel paints and you'll likely get the same result.

    • @stefan020290
      @stefan020290 Před 2 lety

      For ease of use, If you don't have a particular colour already, get the air version from Vallejo, Army Painter or AK interactive. Dropper bottles make it much easier, especially when it comes to paint dilution and thinning ratios.

    • @FauxHammer
      @FauxHammer  Před 2 lety

      @@stefan020290 depends what you wnat. as I said here, i chose the Citadel range for the Colour purists. but yeah, anything in a dropper bottle would be easier if it;s already an airbrush paint. many of those still need some thinning however.

      @MajinTT Před rokem

      @@rolandnavarro5946 ok... So instead of getting angry, save your money for your next round of hobby purchases and get an airbrush set-up, or don't... It's just another tool and method of applying paint. The video also says that you DON'T have to use an airbrush and sure it gives a certain look, it can definitely be done via brush as well. Take a step back and realise that all the techniques shown here can be done in other ways, not every tutorial is going to be focused exactly on how you chose to begin painting. Heck I would say that the oil paints used for washes at the end aren't exactly a beginner technique but it is all good learning info for things you might want to explore later down the track.
