East - Southease Asian culture is revolved around family. Duty to the family before individuality as far as I know. I think asians already found a balance between individuality and everything else.

    As an American, I am continuously shocked at what it actually look like when a country is governed in a way that is dedicated to improving and sustaining a good quality of life for its people. America is the richest country on the planet and it is a shame that we do not even attempt half of these policy’s and projects. Such a beautiful thing to see a country that strive for innovation first, and not profits above all else like the US has.

      Singapore was essentially a benevolent dictatorship under Lee Kuan Yew for decades after independence. This was a non-trivial contributor to sustainable long-term planning and development in the city-state. The contrast is stark compared to Hong Kong's plutocratic rule by wealthy developers and mandarins from London and now Beijing.

    As a Singaporean, I would recommend Singapore as a great place to visit and if possible to stay for a few months, soak in the innovative vibe and take in as many ideas as you can. But like Japan, be forewarned the pace is intense. As days turn into months and months turn into years, it will wear you out. There is always someone better after your job, some other company trying to destroy yours. If you get a good business running, it is tempting to run it 7 days a week. The money can be good. Taxes are low. The time will come when you will yearn for less crowds and more wide open spaces and your own space, and this city living will become a pleasant curse. Pleasant because it is safe and clean and how long you want to tolerate it before it drives you crazy.

If your spending budget is quite high, I'd say 2 weeks would be great to experience a lot of things & you can really take your time to enjoy the moments. Also to note: Elon Musk tried to make a TESLA partnership with Singapore. However Singapore declined that partnership. Elon assumed that Singapore was "opposing alternative vehicles" as our income would rely on fossil fuels. However, we hit back hard with the data that individual electric vehicles is less of a movement to protect the environment and instead a way to capitalise on the fact that it is a "Lifestyle" and that it would be more effective to have a Mass-Public Transport system that could reduce the number of vehicles, and there could also eventually be alternatively powered public transport as well.

      Electric cars make more sense in countries like America with very little public transportation.
      Public transport > electric cars > petrol or diesel cars

    • @channelhoward
      @channelhoward Před 4 lety +47

      @@ritwikreddy5670 Yes, in general this is true. It is also important to note that creating electric cars is incredibly energy intensive, and if a family is buying an electric car to replace a petrol car that they already own, this is not really accomplishing much. But for first-time automobile buyers who do not have the option of public transportation, then purchasing an electric car is definitely better than a petrol one.

      @@channelhoward There is always market for second hand cars. If you replace your petrol car with an electric car, someone somewhere who was willing to buy a brand new petrol car would instead buy your old car.
      That means one less petrol car on roads.

    I was probably born under a lucky star to be able to experience Singapore a few months back during a student exchange program at the NUS,and right from the societal congeniality as well as the overall sense of responsibility and passion for the labour and following dictums among the people was astounding in every sense of the word.Indeed Singapore is a true exemplar for the modern cities or rather world in totality.
