My kit arrived yesterday. I’ve built darn near every Align a heli from the tiny 150 up to the recent TB70. When SAB opened up their recent sale I jumped on the Piuma and this is my first SAB kit and I must admit I’m very impressed with the quality. I had to laugh about you getting shaky hands. I get those on maidens all the time, even more in Helicopters. I would get frustrated because I always felt I was putting too much gain on the gyro on the bench. I break into a hover and the tail would shake or the head would seem too high but only on the aileron. Then to my embarrassment, somebody said that it was caused by my thumbs shaking! Even worse is they were right. Even though I’ve never been a fan of expo, I pumped in 15% and surprise, it was greatly reduced. How life changes our behavior. As a 13 year old RC pilot I used to wring out airplanes with some crazy flying without a care in the world. I mowed lots of lawns and shoveled the same in driveways covered with snow. All my money went to RC. Now at 61, the loss of an heli still sucks but the money I spend is not an issue, but now I have the shakes from being nervous when I fly. Go figure. Great video and information thanks for putting up this video. I enjoyed it a lot.

For me the colder temperature didn't help with the maiden. I've since done a few more flights making a few adjustments and it's gotten better. Im quite happy with the recommended settings of the Brain2 flybarless unit. The build quality of these kits are fantastic. Later on in the future I might get one of those Align TB70 kits and see what they're all about. Thanks for watching. 👍🏻

Hi Gav, did you ever get to the bottom of the shaking/wobble and even better, eliminate it completely?

Yes I did get to the bottom of it. So the kit comes with 2 pairs of bushing dampers for the rotor head, one pair are hard and the other pair are soft. I had the hard pair in and as I had the head speed at around 1100rpm, that was causing the shake. So after I had done the full maiden on it, I disassembled the rotor head and installed the soft bushing dampers and after a dozen flights the shaking went away as the bushings settled in.

Which Motor pulley are you fly with the Scorpion 1100kv?

At the moment I'm flying it with the kit supplied 20t pulley. It flie just fine as it is, however I have noticed that in the warmer months the motor does get a little bit hot. Not too the point of damage, but enough to be a bit hotter than I would like it to be, so I'm thinking of getting an 18t pulley for it.
