Disney's "inclusive" means excluding dwarf actors. Clown world.
The really strange thing to me about the entire issue was that everyone seems to forget that the fairy tale was old when Disney picked it up and made a movie in the 1930s, that the dwarves in Snow White were miners, were self supporting members of society and were kind. The whole recasting essentially said "history and legend and mythology mean nothing today". and as Dylan says, at least 7 dwarf actors and 7 stunt persons with dwarfism were not employed to make this movie. The story makes no sense without the dwarves.
And now that the trailer has been released we have uncanny valley bad CGI dwarves.

I would never go to see a Snow White performance if they deliberately did not have the seven Dwarves. As a kid I thought the seven dwarves were the best part of the movie!
This interview came out a year ago. Because of the critique, Disney has now changed this and replaced the 'magical creatures' with cgi dwarves.

To be fair to me the oompahloompa argument is the same as the dwarves. The dwarves in Snow White were more the mythical dwarves (think LOTR) rather than just people with dwarfism. So apples to apples if they can use cgi for one they shouldn’t be criticised for the other. I think the point that matters is that by saying we don’t want people of short stature for Snow White/oompah loompa/etc roles is taking away their opportunity for roles, they should have fair opportunity for any of these roles as anyone.
James stating that gay guys don't get roles in movies is absolute BS, throughout the history of hollywood and moving picture industry many many actors were Gay however it wasn't advertised because it wasn't relevant, their status of being a good actor was conferred because they were good actors and not because they were good gay actors. To refer to your comment about CGI why have actors at all ? Why not make complete movies just using AI generated characters it would end up cheaper than paying famous actors for their image.

Peter dinklage should explain himself to the aspiring dwarf actors who would have cemented, made or founded their careers from this movie. It seems pretty obvious PD wants to monopolize the role and raise himself as a truly historical character. There are better dwarf actors out there, i would argue Warwick Davis even now is head and shoulders above PD. I would.even say Dylan is better and such a good humble man.

I just said this when you read the book and know about Dahl himself he wrote them as Pigmies which are abnormally undersized people in Africa, but after he got stick for that he changed them to being fantastical creatures akin to pixies and dwarves.

Also a lot of the time when you have gay actors playing gay characters they rely more on stereotypes which is annoying. I’ve watched plenty of movies/tv shows with gay/lesbian characters where the actors weren’t gay and they were amazing. It also promotes more “ally’s” if straights are willing to play gays. They never look at it from that perspective though.
Plus there aren’t a huge percentage of gay people, let alone gay actors, we’d end up with the same 3 people in every role if we restricted it like that.
Yes, I mean... look at Luke Evans and Lee Pace from "The Hobbit" movies, both gay yet both playing heterosexual father characters in the movies. Brilliant in their parts.

James saying "only gay people should play gay characters", you cannot see some is gay 100% of the time whereas you can see when someone is a dwarf actor at least 99% of the time. Like there might be the odd one where you are not sure. In other words if you cannot see it there might be an actor who can pull it off, keeping CGI out of the conversation. The Oompa Loompas are based on pigmies Roald Dahl wrote that himself and pigmies are abnormally undersized people. He later revised how it was written as pigmies though real people was seen to have racism connotations, so he rewrote the Oompa-Loompas as ‘fantastical creatures, akin to pixies or dwarves’. Nothing was lost in this change, aside from a racist caricature. So whatever way you look at it yes Oompa Loompas we’re most definitely based on real people 1st and yes dwarves also.

Till the sun went down lol, just enjoying life and I seem to have instilled this in my son and daughters, in a world where people never seem to go out side and feel the sun on their skin and breath in fresh air all 3 of mine weren’t allowed to be glued to the tv and I think it made them appreciate the things I did and it shows in what books I read and read to them when they were younger. I loved Dahl and Blyton and the Famous Five books haha I sound ancient but those were good days

Correction, Peter Dinklage has made his career being a great actor who happens to be a little person. Dinklage is on record stating that he chooses his roles who are complex so that his performances aren’t dependent because he’s a little person.
With that said, there is a part of me that agrees with Dinklage but at the same time, if we want more little people in movies there does need to be exposure to these actors outside of the more hurtful stereotypes.
Its a hard subject to go over because it effects multiple people’s livelihoods and those dedicated to the craft that don’t get those opportunities.
This Snow White has had so much talk, debate and vitriol for so long. There has never been any product displayed.

The one that starred Val Kilmer and Marlon Brando, and he was Marlon Brando's sidekick and always dressed exactly like him. I think that the actor was legit only about 2 feet tall. He was crazy tiny.

The closest I've seen a live-action product depict the original roots, was in the Johnny Depp film where Wonka is shown to have found them as tribesmen but I think they made the Oompa-Lumpas Indian? Can't remember though.

Jason you missed the point about the umpa lumpa. It was always played by a dwarf. Now it's CGI because they deemed it inappropriate. Thats the point the guest is making. Not wether the person type is made up or not. Your point was however valid about CGI etc, except not the case with this movie based on Willie Wonker's world. The original movie had a dwarf in it playing the role. Now that employment is gone. Not saying they should not use CGI, its just the reason was not valid therefore it cost employment for dwarf actors. Thats the point the dwarf actor guest is making. 13:00 I think you're looking for "apples and oranges" but Piers' point is that Hugh Grant took a "small person role", that a dwarf could have had without CGI, but to your point, an umpa lumpa is small in stature but they're also entirely fictional. Piers is making a sort of ludicrous comparison on purpose to stir the debate. It also serves to prove both sides, where a dwarf can and probably should play a dwarf, but a gay character doesn't need to be a gay actor. Roles are interchangeable, but Hugh Grant was hired to play a small character, it's likely the role was never meant for a small person to begin with.
