In the 80's Usha was unstoppable and carried the burden of whole Indian hopes. She competed in 100m, 200m, 400m 400 m hurdles and the 2 relays. There in the 1986 Asian Games in Seoul, She won 4 golds and 1 silver. She was the star of the games. Really proud of you lady !!

Track athletes like PT Usha, Milkha Singh, Shiny Abraham, Anju Bobby George, Valsamma, etc were legends who made the Nation proud, winning medals for us at the International stage, at a time when we didn't have today's infrastructure to support them.
I doubt many of today's generation even know them & it's rather unfortunate that our Nation seems to remember only Cricketers. I hope the Indian Government of today recognises their achievements & showcases it to the youth of today.

such a great and iconic talent. i think her 400 mtr hurdle loss is the most painful in our sport's history, i can't bear to watch the replay. imagine how the athletes had to fend for themselves back then. God Bless Ushaji

@@vadlavenkat5615 From where did u came across this misleading news. P T Usha is having a good standard life and She is running an Sports School with support of both state and central Sports ministry. She is not having any personal struggle that need financial assistance from Government. And her son is a Doctor.

In those days (1980s-90s), we Indians used to look up to chances of a few world class sprtspeople like PT Usha, Leander Paes, K Malleswari to win medals for India at Olympics or Asian Games under non-Team events.

though I've read in newspapers, first time seeing video (as we didn't have TV then). what is interesting is PT mam after achieving is calm and humble. no chest thumping or exaggerated action like winner of beaty peagents or cricketer ttakking a wicket. Salute to PT mam and Shiny mam.
