Protection from Fentanyl or anything that can harm them. Other workers could have been affected by not wearing a suit in the past. Plus, could have had legal issues not protecting the workers.
The concern is it could be anything, how would they know it's cocaine without testing it? Also those rapid tests are extremely inaccurate, they'll pop positive for tons of other things that aren't illegal or drugs at all. If that was fentanyl, and one of them breathed in even a little bit, it would be enough to cause an overdose. I'm pretty sure most of this show is fake, but regardless the PPE is required to preserve life.
I sometimes wonder if explaining about the manner of concealment and what Custom looks for can educate drug smugglers in what not to do.
