Like I said, the media rarely gets it right. It’s ridiculous to say u can’t put him in the conversation with KG. Bigs guard a different aspect of the game. Kobe was an elite on-ball defender who clamped down on perimeter players. You couldn’t put KG on a guard/SF like McGrady, Reggie Miller, Vince Carter etc. Like in this era Gobert won DPOY twice but he’s useless against Steph, Lillard, Beal, Harden, or even LBJ, KD, & Giannis. You need an Iguodala/Kawhi type and that’s what Kobe was.
Lastly, Tony Allen, Iguodala, Avery Bradley, LeBron, Bruce Bowen, Rondo, & Scottie Pippen(!!!!!) never won DPOY either but Mutombo won 4 and Dwight Howard won 3 consecutive. Voters don’t seem to realize shot blocking and locking a teams best player down like GP are 2 completely different things and the latter is just as, if not more important than the former.

I think people wanna look at stats and ratings when in reality its what your asked to do and your abilty. Draymond gets known for defense because thats what hes asked to do and he does it very well. Lebron in his prime was a dominant defender but did eveything else so much better it got overlooked even tho I think Lebron if asked to be a dominant defender is easily better than Draymond and is all time level.
@@yrudonking Lebron is an interesting one. Early in his career he was notorious for playing zero defense. Especially on ball defense. He never really became a good on ball defender but slowly he added the chase down block and became a good help defender. Then he stopped again as he got older. Last season he played good defense in the playoffs. He's been an inconsistent defender his whole career

I’ve never seen a better team defender who covered all positions and covered for everyone on GS. He’s a free-safety on the court. His defense was instrumental in the 3 titles they got.

Playing 50 games in an 82 game season to be ready for the playoffs has to count against you when guys like Tony Allen, Shane Battier, Ron Harper, LeBron, Ron Artest, Ruben Patterson, Michael Cooper, Raja Bell, and the late great Kobe Bryant Rest In Peace went hard all season. Kawhi played no offense on SA so he was able to focus everything on D. He’s fallen off a cliff since he’s been the man with the LAC. PG and PatBev are defending better than him nowadays.

Nope. Look I understand the Draymond hate, but he plays in today’s NBA where you guard all 5 positions. Rodman occasionally guarded a 2 or a 1 on one or two possessions. Rodman mainly guarded 3-5. He was excellent at what he did and a much better rebounder than Green could dream to be, but he could not move like Green. He couldn’t steal the ball, deflect the ball, and block shots. Be objective. There is Russell, Dikembe, Wallace, not Kobe - for as great as he was, he would dog against chasing after 2 guards who ran him off screens,- Robertson, Jordan, Wallace... Green is definitely with those players.
