  • Welcome to Painting by Letters, I’m Hannes, and today I want to test different fillers.
I test Green stuff, Milliput, and sprue goo in this video, and use a model that has some awful gaps to see what the results are.
About me: I’ve been in and out of the hobby for the majority of my life and I want to move to improve and finish the projects I start.
I’ve got no socials atm, but please feel free to subscribe if you would like to follow on with this new project.

I've used blue tack to fill in a gap before. It seems to be a heresy in the hobby to use it, but I didn't want to have to buy another product especially (for something that I would very rarely use) and I thought, Why not? Everyone has it lying around. It seemed to work okay, and I would do it again. But if anyone has any good reasons why this is a very bad idea, I would happily be enlightened. I can only think that it doesn't bond adhesively to the model or plastic, but my thought is that when tucked away filling a hole or gap, it's not exactly a region that is likely to be a contact point which is handled and could fall off or come away easily. It painted over just fine, and I presume that gives some extra protection.
Nice video, it makes using a product like Milliput seem quite accessible and do-able, if I ever decide to. Thanks!

      Glad you liked the video.
Not sure about blue tack. I'm not sure why, your points are good, but I'm just not sure... It might be tacky to paint, I don't know. Something feels wrong about it but I suspect it's my prejudice you're probably right that it would work.
I'm glad it's made milliput seem accessible, but honestly it was a big surprise to me how easy it is to use. Honestly think I adore it now, many ideas to come on that one.
