  • Hey guys,
    In this video I go over the XT250 as a first bike ... again... I did this video back in November and figured "why not do it again now that I've put a ton more upgrades on it?" So .. here's that video.

    Wish my 2013 wasn’t rusty from the previous owners riding it in the salty roads during the winter 😭 I’ve got no idea how to fix it, the bike is still amazing tho def gonna buy another one when my bike inevitably craps out on me

    The bike I ride and learned on. Great bike. Love it. I have the carb version 2012.

    I have a 2017 XT250 and I agree with most of what you said. A sixth gear would be great for highway riding. As it is, the bike tops out at approx 115 KPH (71 MPH) as long as there's no headwind. For riders 5'9" and under, the xt250 is perfect. I'm 5'7" and I can get both feet on the ground when I come to a stop. It's not an easy bike to do wheelies on, but it can be done with practice. It's very good on gas; it can be filled with premium gasoline for less than $10 (though it only requires regular unleaded). When you drop it on grass or dirt, it's likely that nothing will break. Drop it on asphalt, you're probably looking at a bent foot peg and a broken brake or clutch lever at most -- nothing too expensive or time consuming to replace or repair. The xt250 is more at home on dirt trails than it is on the highway. Maintenance is easy to do -- oil/filter changes, replacing levers and foot pegs, lubing and tightening the chain, etc. All in all the XT is a good bike for a beginner who isn't too concerned with speed or power.

    I enjoy your videos but this, with you lane splitting, was concerning. It is incredibly dangerous and gives us all a bad name. Other than that one issue, keep up the great work. Btw, I bought an XT new in 1981 and your videos bring back some great memories.

    I'm an experienced rider(40 some odd years) and bought one. I wanted a bike like this before I evan started riding as a teenager. I bought a new one in 2015 and have never regretted it. I finally got it and I ride the heck out of it. I take it trail riding and camping. I'm always looking for trails on the side of the road to explore. I ride it on a road beside the river through water up to and over the foot pegs in some sketchy mud. I don't worry about it getting dirty because all I have to do is turn the water hose on it and clean it quick and easy. I do love this bike. I have 2 other street bikes but this bike gives me more fun then the others.

      Aw man thank you so much for leaving this comment! I can't wait to be in your shoes after riding for the years to come and be able to look back and see how much I've grown and how lovely this little bike has been for me. I hope you continue to watch the project grow and thanks again for your support!

    I love my Xt
    I stand at 6 feet tall , and I have to hunch a little bit on the bike , but it’s comfortable.

    Low seat, predictable power, easy to access everything, cheap on insurance, aircooled, perfect trail bike, weighs less than a cup of water, decent highway power(even for a 200lb rider, me), sips fuel, VERY forgiving!
    Should i stop or keep going?

    I bought a ttr250 a few months ago as my first bike. It's not legal for on-road, but I'm learning tons of off road riding on it. I can say the same things about my ttr. Not the fastest, but I can hold my own. It doesn't bite back, and is a gateway drug to bigger and better bikes. 99% sure my next bike will be a WR250R so I can commute and do off road stuff.

    ;) Here in Ontario now most of our training bikes in Colleges are XT250s, for sure it can a great first bike! Talking about liquid cooled and 6th gear I'm thinking about the new Kawasaki Versys 300.

    Nice video review. I love the idea of this bike. I think at 6 feet it would be a little rough, haha.

    The engine is bullet proof. The XT250 / Serow 250 has been sold for years, plus it shares the same engine / transmission with the YBR 250 / Fazer 250 which is available in other markets.

      So far, I can agree. It just keeps on chugging, hot or cold, low or high. She's lovely!
      Thanks for dropping by Caz!!!

    11,000 miles in a year and a half. OMG thanks alot ! I have a 2016 Yamaha XT250 and have 700 miles on it in 6 months under 90 percent street driven. Its not my daily driver. Its a weekend bike.

    • @NoOnesWatching0_0
      @NoOnesWatching0_0  Před 6 lety

      Yeah!!! Honestly I wish I could have rode it more. I use this thing for everything!!! I wish I was better at riding on dirt but the majority of my riding is on highway. I'm not afraid of 2+ hour trips on this bike so I can tack the miles on pretty quickly.
      Thanks for leaving me a comment and for supporting the project!

    Good grief watching the lane splitting gives me anxiety! I'm too aware of those giant F250s and their mirrors sticking out, all it takes is one of those idiots to drop his cell phone and drift out of their lane. Then again, you're probably more comfortable with it. Lane splitting is illegal in Florida.

    Its not only good as a first bike but also its a keeper when you buy the second bike. What not to love on a simple reliable bike, you sell and you will regret it for life.

    Good bike for beginners. i think its time you upgrade to a wr250r and change front chain ring less 1 cog and you are good to go ! be safe

    Hey I saw in one of your videos you had a gas light come on. My xt doesn't have a gas light. Was that something you added?

    • @NoOnesWatching0_0
      @NoOnesWatching0_0  Před 7 lety

      +Noe Arciniegas It's a standard feature on mine. What year is yours? I'll try to do some digging and figure out what year they may have added it.

      Fuel injected XT's (2013+) have low fuel lights and a second low fuel odometer that comes on at the same time. Carbed models do not have this.
