I just published this arrangement I did for Bill. Producer John Hammond specifically asked me for this arrangement because he believed, and rightfully so, that Bill’s appeal to the general public would be American popular song ballad features highlighting his phenominal dynamic range. I’m sure he had Nat “King” Cole’s hit in mind and the chart pretty much wrote itself. It’s the original arrangement from the original score with all of the flute parts included which were cut, for whatever reason, from the final mix. Bucket muted trumpets can be substituted for Flugels and I’ve added a hard ending instead of a board fade for performance purposes. It will be available from Sheet Music Direct & Sheet Music Plus. I'll post it as soon as it's been processed.
Wow....that's great! You are definitely great composer and arranger. I never did like the mix on Bill's 2 Columbia albums. All the saxes were only on one channel which I could never understand
Great work John! These arrangements and these albums came out right when I was peeking in my high school jazz band era and is the corner stone of a professional career for 10 years. To this day I still play the songs from these albums, all sound like a similar arrangement to me and I thank you again, I share this music with everyone and it is some of the best, you’ve made history here my friend, and Bill played some of the sweetest most touching trombone ever❤
