Who has the weirdest batting stance?!
Youkilis
Tony Batista! By far in my opinion. It doesn’t even make sense when you look at it.
Julio Franco has a weird one
Carney Lansford another weird one
chuck knoblauch hands down one of the weirdest!
This Top-Tier Content 🔥 Need a Part 2 (ft. LaSteroid’s stance👀)
W Lasteriod
If I use LaSteroid’s stance the ball would literally go through the net, wall and my neighbors house….
hit me harder lasteroid 😩
@@user-sp5mw3sl5t thats the point
@@MightyGoat Love the video, when will Road To the Show return. I miss new episodes
Everybody forgot about Julio Franco. Julio is a Dominican former professional baseball player and coach, who is a hitting coach for the farm team of the Lotte Giants of the KBO League. He spent most of his playing career in Major League Baseball (MLB), entering the major leagues in 1982 and last appearing in 2007, at which time he was the oldest active big league player. During that stretch, Franco also spent two seasons playing in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) and one season playing in the KBO.

He’s who i literally just commented saying lol
Yes The Boa constrictor
Julio was the first person who came to mind when he mentioned unique batting stance.
Ya know there’s a reason he wasn’t mentioned
Griffey jrs stance and swing was the best ever!!! So smooth and he more of an uppercut motion swing but when you watch his swing in slow motion it is poetry
Griffey's stance is not werid, way to miss the objective 😂
Agreed, perfectly explained.
I think you got Griffey's stance/swing wrong. First off, he had this little arm pump while waiting for the pitch. HIs elbow would go up and down. Second, his swing ended always ended only holding on to the bat with his right hand, and the arc of his swing would end the the bat lower. Oh and one more thing... Smooth. Everybody knows his swing was silky smooth.
Check out his official logo which shows his swing. The swing arc was upward, but came back down behind him with the single hand.
I'd be interested to find out if that made a difference in how it felt for you.
Tony Batista had the most unique stance I ever saw. He had both feet on the back line of the box and turned his waist to be in a hitting position.
I came here to say exactly this. Man used that weird stance to hit a broken bat hr at skydome.
Nomar Garciaparra had a real weird one complete with his obsessive glove adjustments between pitches every time he stepped out of the box
He was incredibly superstitious. He drove the same route to Fenway every day😂
His stance and swing weren't that weird. But the stuff in-between pitches was OCD greatness
@@hauntedhaunter6148must have been awful mileage when he played for the cubs.
The routine for sure, but the STANCE itself wasn’t that bad. Youk’s stance was twice as weird with 200% less weird routine
@@mattjohnson8266 that's what I said. The stance is pretty standard
I'd include Julio Franco, Mickey Tettleton, Jay Buehler, Moises Alou in the mix for weird batting stances!!
Cal Ripken Jr:
Video: _32 hours long_
You could do a whole show on Ripken. His seemed to change every other day.
Ripken with the bat resting on his shoulder.
Cal’s great, got to meet him at one of his youth baseball tournaments when I was a kid. Super chill and nice guy, he even gave me $20 to walk his dog for a bit lol
Maybe that's why he was so good. Opposing teams couldn't get a scouting report on him because he kept changing his stance or appeared to
Missing Julio Franco for weird swings.
Ryne Sandberg had an amazing swing. I modeled my personal swing after his. And I dispise the cubs lol
Willie Stargell!! His whole batting style was strange. Big ol windmills, then a few fast ones right before the pitch came
You need to watch and try Mickey Tettleton and Tony Phillips. Both have a very unique stance.
Ha. I just mentioned Mickey before reading the comments. A stance necessitated by all the pine tar!
Go back in history. Dwight Evans on the Red Sox in the 70s and 80s had a weird stance.
Hunter Pence looking like he drank 8 pots of coffee was pretty weird
They still load usually right? So that is just pre pitch and wind up they don't usually swing from that bat position right? Or am I remembering wrong?
Also, would’ve loved to see Julio Franco’s stance. I loved it so much as a kid that I used it for a while. It was really hard to use in game lol
Pujols around 2010 in his prime. Later in his career he didn't squat down as much as his legs wore down.
I used a version of Albert’s stance playing sandlot ball. If I got ahold of one in my sweet spot, it was going flying.
I always loved mike aviles’ stance. The way he flicked that bat was weirdly awesome
Hey bro, just a heads up, in my experience, MLB doesn't copystrike. I use tons of MLB footage in almost every video and haven't once got a single strike. Just sharing! Love the content brother.
He lives after 9x9x9
Do pitching deliveries next! See which one you can get fastest pitch with.
Yeah, let's see him do the Ryan leg kick.
Sweetest swings in the modern era, Ken Griffey Jr. and Will the thrill Clark.
Smh, no one cares, Griffey's swing is not werid yall fail the easiest things
You should have done Tony Batista for sure
now try the batting stance of the players that have the most home runs ever
I always loved Will Clark and Eric Davis batting stance as a kid.
"Here's Ken Griffey Jr.....ground out to short" LOL. No! Don't do him like that lol
Griffey doesn't belong in a werid batting stances get over hit
Juan Gonzales from Texas Rangers back in the day . Loved his stance . Griffey had a good one too.
You want to see weird? Look up a guy by the name of Garth Iorg, an infielder for the Blue Jays in the 80s. He leaned so far back that he basically had to stand up into the pitch.
Need to do Phil Plantier. Also, a righthanded swing can never replicate a lefty swing like Griffey. Great lefty swings have and will always be smoother than a righty.
I want to see Chipper Jones, A-Rod, Pujols, Trout, Hamilton, Sizemore.
As for more weird stances try Andruw Jones & Julio Franco, Shawn Green, Trot Nixon
You should’ve done devers. He has a swing that makes every ball he hits look like a dinger. No wonder why he just won a silver slugger.
I’m going to do a drinking game where I drink every time he says “weird one.”
Edit; adding a second drink when he says “frick” up the ante.
you missed one thing with Bagwell… he always twisted his hands and squeezed the bat, to the point where you could hear the batting gloves against the bat….. and Craig Counsell was my favorite, he would just basically reach up as high as he could with the bat😂
You should try the Mickey Tettleton and Julio Franco batting stance!
Julio Franco for sure. Also Willians Astudillo, La Tortuga baby!
... Julio Franco. Also, Willie Stargell did the bat wiggle before Sheffield.
Corbin Carroll has a unique stance
I didn't necessarily model my batting stance after these two pro players, but my batting stance from what I've been told is a cross between Gary Sheffield with a little bit of Jeter.
I used to copy weird batting stances when I played much to the chagrin of my little league coach. Mel Ott was my favorite.
I modeled my batting stance after Kevin Youkilis (greatest stance of all time) and somehow managed to make it even more messed up. But I still crush the ball every time
There was one time that I was doing a pickup game and during BP, I just had no timing. After my second time swinging, I just decided to start doing weird batting stances. Tried a Youkilis stance and absolutely crushed the ball. I kept it going during the game and it kept working. It became my slump breaking technique after that.
Well we know why Youk was sweating buckets the man was playing with broken hands his whole career!
My favorite batting stance by far, is Mike trouts, he just stands tall and does that tip toe rhythm step
This is a video idea I’ve been waiting someone to do thanks for fulling my dreams Mighty
When u say greatest swing of all time, immediately the Kid popped into my head! Jr 100% greatest swing, absolutely beautiful
I think, if anything, you just showed me that Bagwell got TORQUE! ⚾️🔥
Julio Franco.. Juan Gonzales.. so many others to try!! Great vid though
Do the greatest batting stances next.
Cal ripken stance next. I used to emulate it in practice, but had my own stance in the game.
14:52 I was about to say that you have the weirdest batting stance (as a joke) but then I saw the batting stance and it IS the best of all time.
I might have the weirdest batting stance. My legs are close together not bending, my arms are barely out, I hit lefty and when I swing, I let go of my bottom hand...... and then hit my butt with the bat.
The Bagwell stance is a good two strikes approach.
I think the weirdest part about all these batting stances is how you step inward instead of outward when you swing LOL other than Jeff Bagwell I think most baseball players step outward a little bit when they swing but your feet get closer after you step😂
Need a Mighty Goat Baseball Bat Bros collab
Mighty I loved this do more.ty cobb was weird stance
I'd say you covered most of the strangest ones. I would say maybe if you do a part 2, Eric Davis has a really weird stance, so that's one to look for.
Nomar Garciaparra and his glove fiddling habit between pitches
Ted Williams and Ken Griffey Jr. had the most beautiful baseball swings of all time IMO
I do have Craig Counsel as the second weirdest batting stance ever. It's like he's trying to reach for the heavens for the Lord's strength before swinging the bat.
This is hilarious 😂.
Best Lefty swing: Griffey Jr.
Best Righty swing: Mark McGwire
No..best steroids mcgwire...and griffey does not have a dang werid swing. Smh
Needa crowd the plate more for the Youk stance, he wasn’t called the Greek god of Walks for nothing haha
As a kid my coaches wouldn’t let me use the Sheffield stance, but to this very day it’s my wiffle ball stance.
You forgot about Will Clark. One of the sweetest swing.
I swear these dudes just making up the most agrejust stances for the content
Cody Bellinger has one of the smoothest swings.
Next video idea Weird pitching windups. Here's looking at you Jonny Cueto
Yunel Escobar for sure! Gotta see a part 2
carney Lansford and Eric Davis have intriguing swings
Julio Franco has to be top 5 strangest stances!!! Chuck Knoblauch was very different too.
Claire is the true hero in this
Lol fr
Need some Julio Franco, Tony Bautista, Moises Alou, Tsuyoshi Shinjo, and Juan Gonzalez
Pujols had such a wide stance.
I think the best stance was Chipper Jones.
One factor not considered (unless I missed it) is bat size
Try to hit the infamous 106 pitch from Chapman :D
Another good one to try is Andre Dawson, Julio Franco And as far as best batting stance try Ryne Sandberg, I felt like His batting stance gave me the best timing on pitches
Some of Cal Ripken JR's stances were interesting.
I thought you were gonna get a couple swings of Mighty Goat VI in there, maybe even an obnoxious bat flip to celebrate.
Galarraga, julio franco, Tony Batista, Jay buhner, albert belle, Mickey tettlenton
Man Jeff Bagwell was way lower than that. Me and my brother used to make fun of him on how he would be sitting on the ground pretty soon if he gets any lower.
How did some of these guys get past little league without some coach making them modify their stance? Then they got through college/minors, and eventually, the Show looking insane in the box. Bags is a hall-of-famer. It's just wild.
Edgar Martinez, Juan Gonzalez. Andres Galarraga as well.
Kudos for giving Bagwell a shot. Fairly certain he sat down more, top of the thighs parallel to the ground more.
Griffey s wasn't just the stance though it was all together. Stance with the swing
Julio Franco played for my Braves. His batting stance is text book compared to Leyritz.
If Greg Councel and the cricket stance from Tony Batista's stances aren't included here you failed.
David Justice had a nice swing
Phil Plantier had the, hands down, craziest stance ever. There is no question. No competition.
Chuck knoblock batting stance is legendary!
The Youkilis swings may have hurt, but you went two for three with them
You know what you're not doing, which is very important is ,,,, where they exactly stood in the batters box , some stood closer to the inside and some further from the middle .
Tony Batista has by far the weirdest batting stance of all time.
Tony Batista is the most bizarre. He started by facing the pitcher
Ken Griffey has the smoothest swing of all time
What about Julio Franco? Ty Cobb also batted with a his hand’s apart.
Weirdest batting stance ever? It's simple. Jim Leyritz.
Nice video mighty part 2 please
U could have made a whole video on every different stance cal ripken jr had lol
Johnny Damon with his super open stance was pretty weird
PLEASE tell me you did Aaron Rowands stance
Cal Ripken Jr. is "The Man Of A Thousand Stances."
Idk if it was purposefully done lol but I feel like he did 2 intros and didn’t cut one out lol
I played against Youk in college his stance was 1000 times weirder at Cincinnati then after he got to the show
I'm surprised nobody said Bill Mueller as a weird stance. I don't think there was anybody with a lower stance imo. Thought?
You forgot Joe Morgan. Also Carlos Gonzalez has a very underrated one
