Which Sci-Fi Faction has the MOST PLOT ARMOR? | Halo, Mass Effect & Star Wars Lore

- Today on Factions Compared, we determine who has the most plot armor. The UNSC, the Systems Alliance, the Rebel Alliance or the Republic - who will win?
Today's episode marks the start of Season 2 of Sci-Fi Factions Compared. Today we include not only Star Wars Lore, but also Halo and Mass Effect, as we examine Plot Armor. Plot armor exists when a character or faction is successful even where logically they should not be. It's basically a protection against harm.

Rebel Alliance practically invented the concept of plot armor.
Yeah
Samuel Davidson Not really, original space battleship Yamato was here three years before rebel alliance. Now that's a real plot armor!
hell, Homer's "The Odyssey" is about Odysseus whom out of all of his crew, manages to survive decades of being in Sea. Even surviving an angry demigod giant, and Zeus himself.
Everyone the empire fights gets plot armor.
The empire was perfect with aiming unless they are shooting a main character
“The dark side surrounds the chancellor”
“WE HAVE NO DAMN IDEA WHO THIS SITH LORD IS”
thatasianguy99 nobody said the Jedi were intelligent :)
-Count Doku: "What if i tell you the Senate is under control of a man named Darth Sidious?"
-Palpatine: "Let me tell you a story about an ancient Sith Lord."
Not suspicious at all!
to be fair... the dark side surrounding the chancellor could mean anything. It could mean that his actions as chancellor is starting to be more like that of a Sith. And as for Palpatine knowing the story about an ancient Sith Lord, I believe that if Anakin had asked where he learn of it, it could easily be explained with him saying that he read the story from somewhere.. He is the chancellor, after all, so it is very possible.
The darkside can surround anyone without being a sith lord smart ass.

The Force can really just be described as Canonized Plot Armor.
Rito Yūki is Ultimate Harem Protagonist AMEN
Same thing with Chief's luck really.
Star Wars: The Force wanted them to win.
Halo: Chief is lucky.
Still better than Mass Effect's: Hey look we found the schematics for this super weapon that can help us instantly win.
Of course most of his achievements are due to skill and experience but he's got luck as well. :D Cortana's own words.
The way I see it - Order 66 was the will of the Force.
10 000 Jedi and only two Sith - no balance, jump to episode 4 and you have 2 Sith and 2 Jedi left - balance.
I know it's not the balance that Lucas had in mind but it was balance non the less.
If the plot armor wants you to die - well, bad luck mate.
To quote Han Solo in what is probably the only rememberable thing in Force Awakens: "That's not how the Force works!"
The UNSC doesn't have plot armour. . . They have Master Chief's armour
Logan Chandler Master Chief's plot armour is so large and bulky it eclipses the UNSC.
Jimmy McRustler well he is technically the chosen one of halo so no plot armor however the fact that the earth remained hidden sound plot armor to me
Jimmy McRustler Not really. The Chief didn’t win the war for the UNSC. The UNSC just happened to join the winning side of the Covenant civil war.
MC needs to get himself R2-D2 grade plot armor.
Gabriel Brunet Earth being hinddin was due to the Cole protocol
I would say that the original 13 colonies of the United States have the most plot armor.
Alex Steil best comment ever
Alex Steil lol your right in a story it would seem very plot armoury. Giant global empire loses war against small rebellious overseas territory despite owning Canada cos of a scary threat to the seas kept out of the channel by a giant navy
Peter Osborne no because the bits had their back turned

I always enjoyed how Halo Lore almost straight-up admits the Master Chief’s insane amount of plot armor (after all, he’s survived what 28 other Spartan-II’s couldn’t) by just stating that he has an unbelievable amount of luck. That’s it. The writers admit that reasonably, there’s no way he should’ve survived all the events of the games, much less those of The Fall of Reach and First Strike as well.
but remember, Halo is a game, and they do have to justify why the player is so awesome, the point of Halo is to make the player feel as awesome as possible, it is a series that is very close to my heart, and all your points are valid
And they even gave him more plot armor in 4.
I think most of the other 28 are still alive, Installation 00 states that MC is just the average Spartan.
@@elijahaitaok8624 John’s been established as a relatively average Spartan in terms of ability, but the opening of Halo 3 and The Fall of Reach confirms that he has an incredible amount of luck.
It should also be noted that simply surviving a SPARTAN-II augmentation is also a form of luck (by Halsey’s own admission in TFOR), in which 30 candidates were killed by the procedures and 12 crippled.
The numbers of Spartan-II casualties have always been questionable since Halo Canon likes to portray more SPARTAN-II deaths than necessary, hence the faulty 28-death figure (check the wikis to see what I’m talking about). Which is odd since there are supposedly 33 activated SPARTAN-IIs and 14 are confirmed to be active around 2558.
That's because Mjolnir means Plot in Norse (joking 😃)
Princess Leia has some legendary epic super rare plot armor. Probably got it in some lootbox or something....
Moonman leia was a god in heroes vs villans without lootboxes the shields free health spamming the blaster she and palpatine were just broken more leia though because of the sheilds and uber blaster and don't get me started on the body guards luckily I was the only one smart enough to play her 😂😂😂
Leia's plot armor went overboard in The Last Jedi movie. She fuckin' flies through space while breathing.
Easily the Rebel Alliance. Even with the idiotic Tarkin Doctrine the Empire should have easily swamped the rebels, especially at Endor.
Ugandan Knuckles What do you mean nah? In reality, The Empire would've won the battle of Endor and it's absolutely ludicrous that they lost. In reality the rebels wouldn't have even made it to that because The Empire probably would've killed them already.
whats idiotic about tarkin?
Connor O'Brien The Tarkin Doctrine emphasised fear to control the galaxy. Ships like the Imperial Star Destroyers were made based on its ideals, which was to look scary. ISD’s have many design flaws, and if the Empire kept using the Venator (or an upgraded version of it) and the Republic’s superior starfighters, they could have swamped the Rebels. Instead, the Empire uses ships and fighters with weaknesses that the rebels can exploit the hell out of.
@@governorofwesttaiwan4865 not only that but they actively continue to make designs which actively are weak to their opponents. Like they design their ships to be as weak as possible to their enemies basically.
You're wrong, the rebellion had there own artillery and armour, besides the empire had too many infantry troopers that they would get overwhelmed.
The Rebellion would never have won, realistically.
They eventually would have, if emperor palpatine wasn't using the force. It's very hard to root out guerilla forces, and the empire was converged on a single leader. With one succesfull assasination attempt the empire would divide into many fractions, just as they did in legends.
Not really. The Rebellion can't never win since apparently Palpatine can clone himself in legends. In canon though, it's unlikely since space wizard especially evil one, are fairly hard to kill (even by other space wizards standard)

Infinity Stopmotion But, bear in mind that the original 501st died when the first Death Star was destroyed. So, while the legion on the forest moon of Endor was the personal legion of Darth Vader, it was comprised of normal stormtroopers.
Actually only two thirds were wiped out. They state in the Battlefront game that some survived and new guys were just trained and integrated into the 501st.
501st... defeated by Ewoks
What an inglorious end....
Breeze Cornelius there were still plenty of clones after the first Death Star and many took part in the battle of Hoth
Rebels did for sure.... A couple of squadrons of starfighters Vs one of the deadliest battle stations in the SW history + Darth Vader and Tarkin were there as well. Tell me in reality who would win honestly
wasn't tarkin space dust by then?
JBear Antonicic Not before they blew up the Death Star. Tarkin was in control of that battle station ever since the incident on Scarf.
Overly optimistic and brave hippie teenagers beat anything. Thats the message I got from Star Wars.
LocalHeretic 1127 10/10
he was in charge before that too, it was just news to krennic. krennic somehow thought that just because you engineered and built a ship meant you get to command it, as if all of nasa got to land on the moon instead of neil armstrong. also why didnt the first death star launch more fighters, as in hundreds? or even just use the tractor beams to hold the rebels in place, and how was the falcon able to come out of nowhere WHEN THE LAST TIME IT FLEW UP TO THE DEATH STAR IT WAS CAPTURED BY A TRACTOR BEAM
I always found it funny for the rebels, especially in Star Wars Battlefront how 2 Neblon-B frigates, 3 Corellian corvettes, could even go toe-to-toe with 2 Imperial Star Destroyers, and in some cases down one of the Star Destroyers. And it wasn't like the rebel ships were doing hit and runs tactics, they were doing stationary line battles with the ISD's, something the ISD's were specifically designed for.
blackfrost300 most of the times the Rebel frigates/corvettes hung back to provide minor fire support and fighter screening. The majority of their strike capabilities were found in their starfighters, which capitalized on the fact ISD’s minimized their point-defense capabilities. So yes, ISD’s would win in a straight fleet battle, but I feel the primary role of Rebel ships was to coordinate starfighters, and provide fighter screening, hence why they maintain battle lines to provide a tighter network of fire overall while minimizing friendly fire.
Yeah, but in that setup, any ISD Captain worth their salt would press the issue against the Frigates/Corvettes, win that battle, and then see if that pushes the starfighters to withdraw as there's far less to fight for. If they don't, take the material victory, seed the battleground, and return in an hour when the fighters depart for a refueling station.
forgottenfamily You have a point there. I feel like for that to happen, the ISD’s have to close in on the frigates and they aren’t exactly the fastest of ships (I say that while suddenly remembering then opening of ANH where Vader’s ISD runs down a blockade runner). Even if corvettes can’t continue to stay out of range, they can break the battle line, and take advantage of their (relatively) smaller attack profile to survive while the starfighters keep whittling away at the ISD, even by taking out turbolasers. In fact, they could even fly below the ISD since they don’t have as many ventral turbolasers. As for setting up the background, I don’t really have any counter for that, aside from the fact that the majority of Rebel Engagements are either base defense or blockade-running or otherwise hit-and-fade ops where retreating and returning on the Imperial side are not really options. Obviously I’m not a space tactician (I’m just trying to use info from Ekcharts and Spacedock), but my point is that there are still many viable tactical options from the Rebel side to take on ISD’s.
blackfrost300 Where in Battlefront is that?
Decepticon272 hoth map just search up all capital ships destroyed
BEGONE PLOT
I'd swap UNSC and Systems Alliance. Yes, UNSC depends on the plot armor of Master Chief, but the focus is the faction and at a faction level, they're portrayed realistically and are impacted by the events around them. Meanwhile, the Systems Alliance happens to create the badass Spectre that saves them and stumble across various details, they happen to have access to the superweapon plans that kinda come out of nowhere despite multiple species having access to these knowledge caches for generations, they happen to figure out how use these plans, they happen to convince all the races to rally around Earth and humanity even though neither Earth nor humanity is the obvious candidate for saving, and when everyone figures out the importance of the Citadel, it just happens to end up exactly where they were hoping to rally, at Earth. That was one detail about ME3 that frustrated me: how human centric the mentality was - I mean, Shepard being the hero and wanting to save Earth first makes sense and possibly the Reapers hitting Earth early considering their personal beef with Shepard, but Cerberus, Udina's coup, the human-led superweapon project, the Mars archive, etc, etc, etc - humans played the active role in nearly every non-Reaper initiated event. Sure, that's not every race gets that list (though krogan and whoever survives the geth-quarian fight get pretty decent plot armor for their subquests) so the broader scope of Citadel races....fine. But the Systems Alliance feels very plot armor protected.
Master Chief falls from orbit, walks it off. Shepard tries it, dies and has to be literally put back together
I think he forgot about Halo War's Spirit of Fire, that ship, had sum plot armor, need to get through a Covenant Shield? here are these plasma Rhinos that never show up anywhere else...
Firestorm exactly, Shepard has so much plot armor they literally retconned the finality of death to keep him around.
Firestorm: I'm not denying Master Chief has plot armor probably stronger than Shepard. I'm saying the UNSC has less plot armor as a faction than the Systems Alliance. That's the distinction I'm drawing here and since the video is specifically about factions, I feel that is important.
Though I would note that Shepard survived a Reaper beam to the face, was literally resurrected, and killed a Reaper on foot while the reaper beam was being targeted right at him so it's not entirely one-sided.
But Another thing is the fact that the Systems Alliance has made more progress than the other citadel races. All of the other citadel races not on the council have spent at the very least a century trying to earn a council seat. Humanity, after 30 years or so, is not only a valuable part of the galactic community, but is also on the council for seemingly no reason.
This is made even more frustrating when you realize that they didn't exactly earn it. They had virtually nothing to offer that could possibly grant them such a prestigious position. Meanwhile, the Volus, who have been around longer than the Turians, STILL don't have a council seat. The Volus also basically set up the galactic economy, which should grant them the right to be on the council. Instead, they give a seat centuries later to the turians, who, despite helping a lot during the Krogan Rebellions, didn't exactly earn that right because the salarians made the genophage, not them. And yet humanity is somehow on the council in absolute record time of a few DECADES, even though there was no real reason for them to be on the council in the first place.
The simple reason? Humanity, fuck yeah!
This actually raises the question in my mind of how the rebel fleet survives the star destroyers after the destruction of the second death star? I mean, do the imperials just stop fighting?
Michael Kerig yes the imperial forces order a retreat after the destruction of the Death Star. It was ordered by Vice Admiral Sloane.
Yeah, I believe some Star Destroyers defected after the Death Star was destroyed. Morale just kept sinking on the side of the Empire, so they ended up retreating.
Rae Sloane ordered a retreat.
Michael Kerig What actually happened was the fact that when the death star blew up the imperial fleet didn't know about it. Also, all fleet command was gone. Those ships were destroyed by the explosion. The imperial remnants that fought against the New Republic were not at the battle of Endor. The alliance was actually right when they said the imperial fleet was spread across the galaxy. Only a small portion took part in the battle of Endor.
Jimmy McRustler True that's usually where the Rebels usually got their best equipment and most experienced fighters.. Imperial defectors that pretty much kept the Rebels going and replenished in the early Rebellion years
Nothing beats Having space Wizards on your side
The Empire had EVIL SPACE WIZARDS
The Republic had Hundreds of Space Wizards as well.
Robert Nelson They are only two EVIL Wizards but if you’re looking at the Sith Empire before Darth Bane ruined everything then ya they have hundreds of them.
Darth Vader and Darth Sidious were very powerful Sith. Vader was also an expert fighter pilot, yet he lost to his son who was flying a Y-Wing( a very slow ship) for the first time.
The Rebels should have Lost at Endor, even if they took down the Death Star II
Star Wars Characters obviously don't have enough plot armor. Look at me for example, that Nogri's blade never would've penetrated my back if I had enough armor...
It wouldn't have happened if I were assigned as your bodyguard.
It's vaders fault as if he didn't give the order to attack their homeworld then your bodygard would have no reason to kill you.

Do yu no THE WAY brudder?
The Mass effect had the biggest plot armor. You see the crucible and citadel are used and improved upon by various species which got retcon to the reapers made the citadel. Now the crucible has various species from different cycles design it. Now here is the question how does the crucible work? Keep in mind the the alliance had no idea what it did. So how did the the previous races know what it was when making it. The first cycle might have tried to make a weapon while the secind cycle might try to make it a mind control device for reapers. The third cycle might try to make a reaper repellent. In other words the construction of the crucible should have been a complete mess with no singular idea guiding its function. Secondly, the alliance was saved by some godlike being that decided that for some reason it would allow this cycles victim the choice of saving everyone. What makes this cycle so special? How come previous cycles didn't get this choice. Obviously the crucible had nothing to do with it since the star child could have stopped shepard. That was a literal dues ex machina. The Milky way galaxy should have been destroyed there was nothing that should have stopped it. I mean the repears could have had a hivemind that shepard infiltrated and destroyed. It would have been plot armor, but much less so. Hell, If they uploaded a virus with the equivalant to an old macbook it would still have been less plot armor. Actually, your relationship with the geth should have decided the galaxies fate. The repears would have seen that in the last stand that synthetics and organics could get along and decide to give this cycle a chance and leave, with a warning to return of they were wrong.

From my perspective, you have the LAVA GROUND! *uses force to splash lava at Obiwan LAVA GROUND!
The empire is the winner
I actually don't find Chiefs luck to be that "lucky" at least in the examples you used
The library had another marine get almost as far (in the book, the flood), and the flood weren't as bad as when in the forerunners were around, plus it's common for spartans to survive terminal velocity falls
the flood were at their peak when forerunners were around
Their armor is actually designed for that. Mark VI was made with high altitude combat insertion, and atmospheric reentry, though that is only with the nanofiber parachute attachment. (Halo comic published by Marvel back in 2008)
For sure in those examples, however, the chief is LITERALLY lucky. Like, canonically. That's actually one of the reasons Halsey chose him, as described in The Fall of Reach.
I consider it plot armor that all of chief's enemies, despite their massive technological edge, are that easy to kill, then.
@@lenkagamine4145
Again, not Plot armour. Sure, the Covies were lethal, but there was a reasom Spartans were called Demons. Theu struck fear in the Covenant, having weapons able to shred the armour of the Covenant with little effort. Try surviving a .50 HEAP round being fired from a pistol at your head. The Covenant also lost to the UNSC due to Tactics and how the Spartans were. The Covenant LITERALLY had to make Spartan Killers just to compete with them. The Spartans were more capable warriors over the Covenant
Is this really a question?
REBELS
Nope. Rebels can't compete with the plot armor that The First Order has. They got their planet/WMD blown-up? Doesn't matter. They got their Capital sliced in 2? Nope, still doesn't matter. They got their Supreme Leader assinated?NOPE!
Ufukcan Gencoglu rebels still win, they had to fight the empire for gods sake and they won which is already way more plot armor like than whatever the first order has done and will do
I really don’t agree with this. The Empire’s Tarkin doctrine crippled their effectiveness. Also from the perspective that small guerilla units could never defeat an occupying force there are countless historical examples which disprove that.
@@nicholasavasthi9879 agreed its tarkin fault that they lose
Wasn't commander shepard literally resurrected from the dead? If that isn't plot amour, I don't know what is.
Cameron Spangler It would be plot armor if he/she died at the end of ME1. Instead he/she dies at the beginning of ME2 as en excuse for him/her to join Cerberus and let the player change their class and appearance. The plot had as much to do with their death as it did with their revival two years later with massive scarring. It's passable.
Isn't being killed literally the opposite of plot armor? Also, he was only revived at HUGE cost that almost bankrupted even the Illusive Man. Not to mention, he was resurrected by Cerberus, so it's definitely not plot armor in favor of the Alliance.

JTF2X But all the rest of the characters/factions don’t because they can die if your an idiot or a jerk.
So basically the Systems Alliance only has two plot armors, Shepard and Hackett, while the UNSC has Chief and a perfectly timed introductions the flood and the division of the Covenant.
JTF2X if he had died at the end of ME1,I’d say it’s plot armor, but his death and resurrection were more a means to get him with Cerberus. It’s to advance the plot, so I’d argue it’s more deus ex machina than plot armor. Plot armor tends to imply the character got out of the situation by fluke or luck. Shepard got revived because of the investment of a ludicrous amount of resources by Cerberus.
@@samreid6010 Also, notably shepard was revived for cerberus, not the systems alliance. It doesnt really count as plot armor for the systems alliance since he was technically recruited by a hostile power.

WHY DIDNT YOU INCLUDE THE RESITANCE??? REY COULDVE DEFEATED ALL FOUR OF THOSE FACTIONS WITH EASE.
Paul Samson nah. She just beat Leia and Han's emo son after he had already been shot and tanked Chewie's crossbow. Luke Had 10 minutes of training against a remote, and then went on to get shots in on one of the greatest light sabre duelists in Star Wars history in an epic 15 minute fight. But Rey is the Mary Sue... got it.
Are you talking about his first duel with Vader? That was after training with Yoda, and that fight was still VERY one-sided, what are you talking about getting shots in? Rey is a Mary Sue because she never has to work for any of her abilities, she just suddenly knows how to use the force, making her a very boring and un-compelling character, like something you'd find in a crappy anime. And yes, I know she has some sort of connection to Kylo. A Mary Sue by plot device is still a Mary Sue.
Mar-Rey Sue?
Vaping Saves Lives You do know Vader was toying with Luke the whole time, didn’t want to kill him. When he got a hit in Vader quickly chopped off his hand, which I’m sure he didn’t want to do.

random guy hint: he got promoted :)
You forgot the ultramarines
xd
*Ultrasmurfs
The Ultramarines always triumph.
because matt wards plot demands it
If this becomes a flame war it'll be very one sided is all I'm saying
Rebel Alliance. You know why.
I like how he played halo music when talking about master chief. Halo's music writers and composers are amazing, which resulted in some of my favorite music.
I say rebels. The unsc got whipped 90% of the time.

Behemoth class Battlecruiser from StarCraft vs Venator Star Destroyer
1:33 and it was a trap, so much plot armor
๖ۣۜΛpollon ツ It was, for the empire. They couldn't repel plot armor of that magnitude.
Overconfidence was the empire's true weakness.
luckysix even with Overconfidence they had overwhelming firepower advantage. Every ISD in that fleet not including the biggums, Executor and the Death Star, had enough individual firepower to absolutely decimate the frigates and corvettes within the fleet, once they were gone the TIES would have free reign over the MC80s. The rebels had better Starfighters no doubt (issue solved with TIE/Ds and TIE/AVs and more TIE/IN) but the Imperials had no reason a fleet mostly containing small ships would give them pause.
That said i just explained how overconfidence ruins all that by not doing what i just described but you get my point.
Well we know Blade squadron, a B-wing squadron took out an ISD during endor by themselves though at a great cost.
Nice video. Good job dude!
The 12 Colonies get destroyed overnight by the Cylon threat, but the fact that Galactica can survive against numerous Cylon Basestars chasing it for years makes this show dependent on plot armor. Sure, there are deaths of many crew members aboard the Galactica throughout the run time of the show, but the Galactica is a relic of the past by the time of the nuking of the 12 Colonies. The amount of retrofitting and repairs done to the Galactica throughout the show should make it much more fragile than it is near the end.
The West Will Rise Again! The Colonies had an extreme degree of automation for their ships, essentially shutting down the entire Military.
A major plot point is the galactica falling apart
Sith Empire vs CIS
Clearly the Sith Empire would win against those damn clankers, am I right, Cody?
CC-2224 Commander Cody the CIS is extremely outgunned when it comes to starships
Anakin Skywalker I’ll send those bloody clankers to the scrap heap.
Chief has plot armour? I challenge thee, with a charged Plasma Pistol blast and a Magnum headshot!
(Fires superlaser at you)
...
RUDDY DISPERSION! HOW THE F*CK COULD YOU MISS THE PLANET!?
Awesome stuff dude keep it up
Just had a thought while watching your "could the borg survive a flood infestation" video and just wondered if the mass effect galaxy could survive against a borg invasion. I wonder how biotics would react vs borg nanoprobes and how the borg would attempt to assimilate to the new technology. Would drones adopt their own version of an omni-tool? Just thoughts :)
what faction had the best assassins? Also may the force be with you!
40k, Vinidcar Assassin's ftw.
Eck really needs to do this for the Star Wars factions
Andrew Olson rip kurze
Halo UNSC because all spartans were assassins technically and especially the 3's who had specially made stealth armor with about as much protection as ODST armor and built in active camouflage.
Commander Lakar assassins creed ezios assassins though cause the others sucked
it is of course the ultramarines with their armour so T H I C C that you can use them as tanks
+DOOMRIDER *EXTRA THICC*
Really cool episode, hope you can come up with more stuff like this
2:10 YEET!
The empire has most if not all of the plot armor working against it lol.
You cant discuss the plot armor of mass effect without discussing Commander Shepard.
Look at all the insane survibility of Commander Shep.
He’s literally raised from the dead, in a universe without “magic”. He’s raised from the dead in a “scientific way” because the plot demanded it.
When it turns out the faction that did so, was evil, the plot protected him from being compromised.
He survives a successful SUICIDE mission against a surprior ship, a primordial reaper, and vastly over welming forces with a small team. In fact he survives most missions against vast enemy units with only two squad members.
He is able to acquire loyalty and allies with ease and people he bareley knows.
He is protected from Reaper mind control technology, dispite having more contact with them any one.
I love C Shep, but he has more plot armor than even MC himself...
Jesse Jacobson but she doesn't escape reaper indoctrination...
Yes the indoctrination ending is a thing but you can't forget about the other 3 ending.
Daffyd Barnaby CShep was never indoctrinated, the indoctrination theory was just a fan theory that was later officially denied by bioware.
None of those are plot armor.
He was not dead, they found his body still alive (stated in ME 2), and bringing him back almost bankrupted the Illusive Man. Also, he was brought back by Cerberus, so this is not plot armor for the Alliance, rather against them.
He was not "protected from being compromised", he was imprisoned on Earth and only let out because of the Reaper invastion.
He doesn't necessarily survive the Suicide Mission (how many characters die depends on your player decision).
He is not protected from Reaper mind control technology, that's why the Illusive Man can mind control Shepard at the Citadel.
Empire = negative plot armour
Well, they DID descend from the Republic so....
In my opinion just the fact that the 12 colonies sacrificed the pegasus wich was better armed, had more effective vipers and production facilities for these vipers shows how centered the series towards the galactica was. The cylons would have absoluetly devastated humanity. Also the Galactica survived the fire of the giant cylon basestar despite being damaged throughout the series and still managed to jump to the earth. They stood no chance from the beginning and only survied because of plot armor. They would rank right behind the rebel alliance
StarWarsGames at the end of the series that wasn'ta Basestar that was the cylon station/home planet
StarWarsGames but you also got to remember the CNP virus and how no conainal notice that there was something wrong with the mainframe and baltar had the codes to the mainframe
Please do a video on Sabaoth Squadron from the Star Wars Jedi Starfighter game. They had some pretty impressive ships and fighters even thought they were mercenaries, big thanks to @DrMadStudio who thought of this idea.
I see you got my idea up.
Nah just joking here. Glad to see it tho man!
Palpatine:* manuplates the chosen one to be on his side.
The force: you know what mate, get yeeted by your own apprentice
Its not like Mass Effect had Shepard plot armor.
The cis could out produce the republic as the business tycoons own most of the factories you can’t build guns without factories in Terms of millitary units the CIS outnumbered the republic
If you look at the casualty numbers for the Clone Wars, I remember reading that the official figures had 2 billion clone deaths and 5 billion droids destroyed. The CIS had at least 5 droids for every 2 clones, probably more. The Republic and CIS were actually on fairly even footing on most fronts, and any given battle could have gone either way. Sure, the CIS had numbers, but the Republic and superior war machines on the ground, which leveled the playing field. In space, the Republic had better starfighters, and the CIS had better capital ships, again balancing the field. It was a remarkably balanced war.
+Ryan Cauffman, that is so so wrong because the clone army consisted of only about 3 mil clones at the start lmao and in mid war it was about 8 mil then at the end it was like 13 mil max (these are such bs numbers but they are canon) and if the republic had just conscripted civilions they would have had literally trillions of soldiers.
but you haven't accounted for replacement troopers
@@brokenursa9986 what makes you think republic vehicles are better? Tri-fighters and hailfire tanks do pretty well from what I recall.
Mass Effect has the least plot armor because almost every character can die if you’re an idiot or a real jerk.
But as for the Crucible, well that was the problem from the first game making the Reapers multiple near indestructible space squads without a physical control device to destroy to have them all drop dead within a short time frame. I don’t blame BioWare for how the ending turned out now that we have the Extended Cut.
Rainbowhawk1993 yeah but that's a hand full of people who might die, your argument would make more sense if you said that the mass effect universe gets hit hard by the reapers and sustain a lot of damage
I think the crucible would have been a lot better of Vigil hinted at it or it was mentioned in the first or second game. Bringing it up as the solution at the end of the story seemed like bad writing.
I still love the trilogy though, that's really my main problem with the story.
Shmozone That’s because of the 2nd game’s unfocused plot that abandoned the themes of 1st game in favor of disjointed world building and the geno centric plot of dark energy that didn’t go anywhere. It’s also the reason I see Mass Effect 2 as the weakest game of the trilogy.
I can agree that it didn't fit the story too well, but I give it credit for making mass effect more popular and adding both new characters and depth to existing characters. It also improved game play quite a bit, though not as much as 3. I can agree that 2 is the weakest in story, but I think it's better than 1 and 3 in a lot of other ways. I would say 1 has the best story followed by 3 then 2.
Shmozone That I can agree with. Regardless of all the flaws, Mass Effect is my favorite RPG Franchise and no amount of hating from Obsidian and CDPROJEKT fan boys will convince me otherwise.
I love how you played the halo 2 soundtrack as well as played scenes from halos 2 and 3
The 12 colonies have relatively large plot armor. While they are mostly destroyed in the miniseries leading up to the show, they survive despite being infiltrated by cylons and being completely outgunned. Not to mention that Baltar has an angel guiding him, and that the entire plot was God trying to get humanity to start over fresh. Even Starbuck coming back as an angel because she was their best pilot is a major form of plot armor
Rebels hands down
Master Chifs armor is made out of 100% Pure Undestroyable Plot
Matchstick 7886
Well, it is explained why.
There isnt any inconsistency throughout the series regarding his durability
Chief can take a LOOOT of hits
His plot is like the Galactic Republic compared to Han Solo XD
P.S. Han shot first, and always does whenever he fires his blaster
Nope highground beats it
Mjolnir armour costs about the same as a UNSC destroyer
You forgot to mention Master Chief's plot armor of "being lucky" to explain how he survives certain things.
"Do not underestimete then, but most of all do not underestimate him"
Do which faction had the best generals
Darth Sidious Thrawn is an admiral, not a general.
MKLegoProductions Halo.
Their generals and admirals were able to turn what should’ve been a fast and easy war for the Covenant into a bloody and drawn out war that lasted almost 28 years.
@@nicholisling2657 Admiral Cole
Finding the crucible I sent ploy armor, it's very existence is plot armor. The idea of a suicide switch that hacks a entire mechanical race, is... nonsense, with no decent reason to exist, except to be able to end the franchise.
The story felt like it was building up to something, but not that.
The overarching concept is much larger. The Reapers think that they completely reset the cycle each time they do it, but actually each time it shifts just so slightly more and more in their disfavour. A few ancient artifacts always survive and help the next cycle build just a little more. That's why the Crucible plans ultimately make it through so many cycles to be finally perfected in the last one, and that's also why the Protheans finally figured out how Mass Relays work (remember, their Ilos base was built on the ruins of yet ANOTHER civilization) and could stop the Keepers, which in turn benefited the next cycle, and so on.
@@Kai-tn4yx I love the Refusal Ending
Your videos are always great and very thorough! I'd only like to ask if you are willing one day to include also the Starcraft franchise in the series as to make comparisions with these great games and movies.
The Forerunners vs the Imperium of Man vs the Xel'naga (StarCraft)
Monsters compared: Tyranids, Flood Necromorph And bugs(starship troopers)
Tyranids just out EVOLVE you.
The flood do not evolve, they just take over a host body in order to gain biomass, Tyranids do this with everything VERY quickly, and could very quickly, create counter measures to fight off the flood.
Andrew Olson i hope you understand that the flood does evolve and once a grave or keymind is created nothing can win they make flood forms to specifically counter what they are fighting and said organisms can evolve after killing them and letting a flood spore to infect the corpse nothing can not be consumed not even hyper tech that the forerunners had
Zachary Thanstrom it doesn’t matter if the life is intelligent or not. Enough biomass and the flood will form into a gravemind. And that gravemind will have all the memories of previous gravemind, which means it will learn how to construct a ship using what it has.
Ultrasmurf plot armor will prevail against all
Doomguy (Doom 2016) vs The Flood (Halo)
Lord Anubis The old Doomguy sorta-kinda killed Satan so it wouldn't be out of the question for the new to kill some space zombies
...hmm, doomguy vs the flood would really depend upon how bad the flood outbreak is
The Doom Slayer (the new Doom guy) went toe to toe with a demon the size of a skyscraper and won, without the Doom Marine armour or guns. So, I would say he has a good chance against the flood if he is in his armour, especially since it has argent plasma flowing through it. It also helps his case that he uses a lot of guns that are effective against the flood, like a shotgun or plasma rifle.
Doom guy hands down the dude can crush master chiefs skull and fights demons which are more durable than anything the flood can throw out he literally can just start ripping the tentacles off the gravemind
As long as he doesn't take the helmet off he'll be fine.
Love the topic!!
"He survives the situations where he shouldn't" (4:21) Falls from space: Survives
Falls from ten feet: Dies
2:15 that sound effect had me dying
Masterchief is just a badass.
Eckharts just a thought maybe for future videos you could add you plot armor as a factor in future vs episodes love you vids
More 40K Additions!!! Loving seeing those compared all around :)
Sword Fleet from Mass Effect vs Endor fleet with or without the death star
Shmozone The sword fleet should contain both Geth and Qurain ships. Along with all other ships you can find.
A thousand+ ships vs the like small amount at Endor? Bye bye Endor.
@@galenmarek4550 Was 3 years ago but meant empire's fleet, but looking back at it it wasn't more than 30 star destroyers.
As someone who plays mass effect the crucible is a daus ex machina, if that counts then mass effect has even more than rebel, also master cheif does have a lot but shepard had more, he defeated a fleet in 2 minuets
eck: emperor dies
disney: are you sure about that?
2:15 😂😂 lol didn’t expect that
