    Earth: A very well equipped and powerful military staging ground that has an orbital defense system that makes the Covenant and Flood both very nervous.
    Terra: if there isn't a shrine to something, there's an Earth shattering weapon or warrior pointed right at your face. With a legion of warriors that could take Thanos on daily running drills trying to subvert and infiltrate their own defenses and failing, a numberless fleet of literal death stars and have to pass through literal hell just to pick up their mail in the morning regarding military experience, and orbital stations the size of continents armed with weapons that could force a star to supernova if they wanted to all GUARDING an entity who can create Galaxy sized vortexes of annihilation. Not to mention the trillions of soldiers and pilgrims, armed with weapons that would make a star wars fan cry, ready to die than see Terra fall. You simply can't win out, the numbers aren't on your side. And the only force capable of that was literally half of the 30k imperium, and even then, that failed and the losses to those forces were so great they had to abandon the normal galaxy and flee into the anus in the sky. The beast was beaten, world engines beaten. The simple fact is the imperium will grind on because it simply isn't possible to actually grind them into dust. Horus didn't even take the entire galaxy before attacking tera, he hit a few places, lost in many mores, and even with him manipulating things and positioning groups like ultramarines in distant areas, still had to make a dash for tera, and LOST. Depends.
      Weapon rate of fire goes to mass effect
      Durability goes to 40K
      Tech goes to Mass Effect. This is mainly due to Imperium stagnation where as Mass Effect in 3 years post Citadel battle jumped up very quick in tech/lot of lore was built in the comics and ANN/CERBERUS Network intel.
      Weapons overall raw power is 50/50 for both due to rates of fire. A 40k main gun Weapons compare to a mass effect main gun is silly at first. However main guns of mass effect fire every 5 seconds at 1/3 speed of light prior to the thanix weapon and upgraded system cores. Broadside and flack guns fire every 2 seconds.
      40k does big payloads and then takes awhile to fire again their weapons. Their torpedoes are mostly negated to the GARDIAN system, Arnex System and better use of V.I/A.I tech interface.
      Fighters/interceptors eat 40k imperium strike craft due to speed, power, agility and being supported by the ofher ships defenses that are also anti fighter personnel that are way leagues better than 40k anti strike craft on their ships.
      Ships overall in mass effect are faster, easy to navigate and move but do bare in mind that Mass Effect can do what a lot of other sci fi universes can. However they do have laws and regulations in place to limit power, nanites/extreme ways to wage war.

Doesn't even bother reading the books or even using common sense as Reach was the second or even third most heavily defended planet in the UNSC. Behind Earth aka Halos Terra and Mars. Which post war is home to the Spartan Branch.
      He only uses the end of the war like the UNSC didn't build any ships post war. And didn't have an Air Force or AA guns , missile launchers ground based MACs capable of taking down a ship in orbit or missile silos of the nuclear kind aimed at space.
      Then puts Mass Effect which has capital ships the size of a small UNSC frigate above Earth's defenses ?. Yeah lack of knowledge there.
      But 40k still wins here. So I can't be too mad.

      It's hard to compete with a civilization built solely around warfare. For like 10,000 years. We're talking about a society that kills like a 1000 people *per day* to keep the Emperor alive.

    • @John2r1
      @John2r1 Před 4 lety +5

      @@scottgrindrod First part is true. But there is one way to be competitive even against the Imperium which is technology. The UNSC now makes use of Ancient Forerunner tech which is basically like if the Imperium could reverse engineer Necron tech.
      The Galactic Empire also is a very advanced civilization. Though it's not exactly geared towards all out warfare unlike the Imperium and the UNSC which really hasn't been all that peaceful. If you think about it the UNSC armed forces are basically the US military in space. And as you probably know the US has been at war for a total of 93% of its 243 years history. I highly doubt that is going to change over the next 500 years.
      Chances are UNSC/UEG history goes ww1,ww2, Korean war, Vietnam, Iraq wars , Afghanistan war, etc , Resource wars , Mars wars , Inter planetary wars , Insurrection War 1 , Human Covenant War, Insurrection war 2, Booding years war aka Sangheili civil war intervention, Wars against Splinter Covenant groups, the Created War. Basically around 700 ish years of near constant wars for whatever reason.
      The Imperium knows all too well that Humans have been killing each other for thousands of years since the first caveman smashed another's skull in with a rock.
      And they know which side of the rock they rather be on.
      What I find funny in this video is that Eck choose to use the UNSC at its weakest point rather than post war. In both cases it took overwhelming force just to land on earth and still the ground was contested. And the Covenant never achieved space/ air superiority. Because even after they broke through more UNSC ships arrived from fleets they had bypassed to get to Earth.
      As to the Emperor 1000 Psykers is an arbitrary number. It likely takes more than that per day. And his life support is failing. And the Tech priest don't know how to fix it. Mostly because the Imperium the great Imperium that the Emperor once ruled that was a great home to talented artisans and brilliant scientists is now a superstition shell of what it was.
      10,000 years of religious dogma has actually destroyed the once proud Imperium of Mankind.

Because the only time a force can even make it a few sectors in is when GW wants to bullshit plot to happen. Which is fine, shit has to get done. But typically the more worlds you put under threat, the more neighboring sectors start preparing for war, eventually snowballing into forces the likes of which all of star war's wars couldn't match.

    • @NeiasaurusCreations
      @NeiasaurusCreations Před 4 lety +6

      @@ZZMonkeysUncleZZ No it really can't though. Because the GRA, probably the single most powerful army, was only 6,000,000 men including pilots, tanks crews, etc. A single planet from warhammer 40k out produces that by fifty or so times. For example, Krieg can supply multiple entire armies of 18,000,000+ men, keep them topped up on numbers, and still supply regiments, and other forces. There's also the period he chose to pit. See, he chose GRA, which was star war at it's prime in terms of power. And then 40k era imperium, which is the imperium after 10,000 years of backsliding. Instead, I'd make the case that the GRA would not be fighting 40k imperium, but 30k Great crusade imperium. Meaning the Emporer, all 18 primarchs, all 18 LEGIONs, and the imperial auxiliary would be a police force mostly. Keep world compliment, and clean up the mess from whatever legion just got down royally molesting the world with absent of a safeword. Why? Because in a scenario of a galaxy invasion, 40k would be unlikely to launch such a thing. However, the great crusade was all about humanity on offense, reclaiming the stars, and destroying all alien life...Such as a galaxy full of treacherous aliens. So if you put the GRA, I'd put forth space marine legions. At which point there's absolutely no comparison, 40k's Legions take the buck in every way. A clone can't match the might of an astarte, and a jedi can't match a primarch. The GRA would be over run in a few years at best, and most of that would be space travel. The crusade era imperium would be such a one-sided victory that likely only a few legions would even be sent, after all the imperium is busy taking over the entire galaxy by force of arms, in actual planet sieges in scale and scope that star wars just doesn't deliver. Hell the Iron warriors, and their supporting elements of armor, and titans could utterly destroy the republic by itself, just a single legion. Perty would be on Coruscant in a few days, and have bled the GRA dry in a week. It wouldn't have the numbers needed to even remotely counter the entire iron warrior's legion. But even 40k's imperium would be able to just destroy them with the successor chapters of a single legion, and a krieg army. Throw 18,000,000 men, and like 200,000 space marines of the ultramarines and their successors at the GRA and watch it shatter. Probably not as fast as the actual great crusade era, but still fast enough. It would, in either case, be rape with the absence of any type of safe word. No I'm not saying sorry I used arch's joke twice, it was equally as true the second time.

    Is there even a point in letting 40K take part on these comparisons/contests?
    The writers of 40K clearly live by the rule "the more ridiculous it sounds, the better it is". There is such a thing as being objectively comparable. The Terran Dominion (StarCraft) and UNSC (Halo) are at about the right level for a comparison and they have access to similar tech - except that Terrans have access to psychics.

      I think the hardest part of the comparison is the timeframe. A lot of 40k fans pointed out that the Halo universe could have actually existed in the 40k universe's past. Much of contemporary history thousands of years in each direction are lost in the 40k universe and the whole halo episode could have occurred and been forgotten. Earth's defenses in halo then would be like comparing DC's current defenses against humanity 40k years ago, so really no comparison. Thus, I agree with you but for different reasons. Another interesting theory about 40k history is that Event Horizon occurred in 40k's history as well
