This was before FF were big. The crowd were likely an ignorant bar crowd who had no idea what they were missing.
Not many videos of their original drummer, either. This is a gem.

If it's any comfort the crowd chatted all through Jeff Buckley's debut SF performance at the DNA Lounge.
They seem genuinely happy to be there.
I was there - this was their first show in SF. I don't remember the crowd talking this much, but it has been 8 years..
Where was their first show? i didn't see them until at The Independent, the tour following this one.

two observations: 1. Paste Magazine has no idea how to place ads. 2. There are some San Franciscans who today brag about seeing the Fleet Foxes back in the day who actually only heard themselves speak
I was there and was absolutely mesmerized. I don't recall the talking but the place is tiny!
The people talking suck. I saw them a month later open for Matt Pond PA and I was mesmerized. 15 years later I still remember how great they are live. No excuse for talking.
Ah yes I was at this show, blown away as they were just the opener for blitzen trapper.

i saw this show in vancouver. They opened for Blitzen Trapper, who i was there for because a friend told me about them. I learned first hand how a band can blow another band off stage that night. it was at the media Club, small venue.
i like how the audience clapping along totally fucks up the rhythm change at 18:48
and then in the next year they perform in Glastonbury
That audience had no idea how much FF would blow up. They missed out if they weren't paying attention.

In the crowds defense, it's a bar first and a music venue second. It does suck but I doubt the band was upset by it.
Could someone help me, is his acoustic miced up here somewhere?
just in case you haven't found out in the last 3 years ....
you can see a cable going in to the sound hole so either he is using a pickup for DI or he has a little microphone inside. It sounds clean and clear enough to be a microphone.
