This video has the energy of son showing his dad the science project he made and the dad trying to communicate genuinely.
it just was akward lmao
@@MCplayer94 I know mcplayer94, but saying it like that is not funny. I just like being extra like that.
I feel like this video perfectly encapsulates how I feel trying out a product at every tradeshow with a sales rep really close to my left shoulder and a hint of nervousness and urgency to touch anything lmao
Been waiting for Darren's sneak peak video. This is wholesome to see. Definitely on my bucket list
Love the idea about putting scopes on the iPad screen. Great job Darren.
Mr Alex Tech out in the wild around the 2:44 mark haha
Abort mission. I repeat abort mission. We have been spotted. *Runs away* 😄😄
@@MrAlexTech 😂😂😂
Thank you for this
Great! been waiting for this video ❤
I'm really excited for this panel.
Ayyyyyyy Cuz, nice to see you at the NAB! Hope you are having an amazing time and seeing the ol YT gang!
I Placed a pre order on this immediately after i saw it, I can't wait to work with it! Thanks for making a video on it as its very scarce right now.
Way to go! Almost at 150k !!! Whoopwhoop
Love it. I'd love to see you do a video comparing the new Micro Panel to the Mini Panel.
Thank you Darren for the review of this new micro panel. Looks like it’s gonna be my new toy 😊
Nice light-hearted video, thanks!
Thanks for sharing.
Very appealing design. Nice one BM.
The fastest convo I’ve heard 😂.. but glad you uploaded man! Excited to see your full thoughts on it soon.. I’m getting me one
I need this❤️❤️❤️
Hey Darren, Is there a switch between primary and HDR, i couldn't see that anywhere!
Thanks for the video! Even though I had enough "yeah, yeah, yeah" after first 2 minutes :D
I definitely plan to get one in the near future
Thanks for the first look. Quite interested in this little panel - as long it isn't actually Mac only. I hope that's an accident on the spec sheet.
panel looks amazing...you could use that slot to put a couple of rounds of toast in if not using an iPad. Now we need to watch Mr Alex Techs review to see you in background !! Look forward to you full review, thanks for sharing as always
It looking great. Scope on ipad really good idea.
Very cool! Thx, Darren. I wasn't able to go to NAB this year, so you're my eyes and ears. LOL. Also, I need to travel and work on the road so this will be potentially be something I carry with me. Like you, I'd put my scopes on the iPad in front of me in the slot. Let me know if you find that it holds it well. Thanks again.
Now it's affordable for me and yp! this is what I was waiting for 👍
Great video, it was a pleasure to meet you!
Good to meet you too
I have the mini... but I still might pick one of these up when I do travel jobs.
Nice! Yes place for pen and paper haha I like the idea of the scopes too. Looking fwd to Blackmagic coming to Cinegear but I can’t wait that long for the panel haha
It look aweeeeeesome!!! Will they release new MINI PANEL soon?
Hey! i hope to win. Good luck to all.
Panel looks really cool, but I'm definetly concerned that it doesn't support DCTLs.
I was so sure that one of the graphics of the panel on the NAB stream showed it had an FX button, that could have presumably worked for DCTLs, but seems like it didn't end up on the final product. Once the manual drops I'm definetly gonna see if a shift key combination could work with DCTLs in some shape or form, that would definetly make it competetive against the mini panel
adding control surface functions to tablets would be a great addition, plus scopes
Hi Darren, great vid. Quick one. I struggle to grade clip by clip as it’s very time consuming for the daily content I post. I don’t like using Luts and was just wondering if there’s a smart way to grade clips at once.
I’ve tried adding to groups, individually correcting exposure, temp, wb etc and creating a look with a group but maybe my poor filming hinders a consistent look.
Is there a way you would grade when time is of the essence?
well, they came close to your April 1st concept video I guess 😀😀.. They are on the right track, I assume there will be an update on Mini and full console models with new style balls and wheels and key function updates that is needed to match new resolve updates and feature. Hopefully soon, a slightly compact size Mini panel would be amazing
This mini Panel is quite suitable for home studio and a person whose desk at home or office isn't big enough 😌 but it seems doesn't have included with Studio version according to BMD official web.
Of course Apple will change the size of the iPad so it does not fit that panel in a couple years...
You can use it with a desktop pc or laptop anyway.
When and Where can I give them my money??!!
that is just the right size, I love it.
(maybe I missed them saying the release date)
Nice insight, Darren. I'll definitely get it, too bad the bottom edge isn't rounded upwards.
I also think the balls and rings have no inertia. I don't know if other colorists like inertia, but I do. What's your opinion?
I wonder if they would add at some point the same Shift button options for PCs that work along the original Micro panel 🤔
Makes me wonder if Blackmagic will update their Mini panel as well..
Thanks for sharing. I have the Asus studiiobook 16 oled, 64gb ram, 5tb storage and I film on OMSYSTEM's OM-log 400 what input node and out put node settings would I use. I use your node tree you sent out Thanks in advance
I had pleasure watching the video! Question: How would you place the scopes on the iPad? Is that possible somehow right now? Thanks!
yes just drag the scopes window on to it - ipad can be a second monitor.
I 've been saying today that it would be cool if there was an ipad app that would give you the feedback from the panel. Seems like that wouldn't be that difficult for a software designer. Funny that on the end of my panel I have scopes on an ipad.
looks quite usable for a hobby filmer like me!
Thanks for sharing ! We really need a pdf with all shortcuts described ! I am not purchasing it before a full description !
Its coming
I wish I was uo there.... Buuut if is realease before June I might get one huhuhu
That interaction was exhaustingly awkward 😅
Scopes on the iPad in my studio was my first thought as well - does ScopeBox or Omniscope have an iPad version? Or would it work best to use the iPad as another screen for the Mac and run scopes that way?
Run as another screen IMO. Im not sure if they have ipad specific versions but it wouldn't be needed really.
Thanks for this - looks like a useful bit of kit.
I ordered mine over the weekend and already fed back to BM that I wanted to use an iPad to add functionality to the Mac's software rather than operate as a standalone.
I was thinking more in line of mimicking the Mini's screens/controls (ie a bit like the Tangent Element-VS app), but bringing up scopes makes total sense and can already be done fairly easily - though it would be good for Resolve to offer more Omniscope-like options for larger iPad screens.
I look forward to a video seeing you properly putting such a setup through its paces if you have time. Meantime, I look forward to any other NAB finds you share.
Thanks again for such a great YT channel.
I cant do in depth review as i dont have one. Thanks anyway
If Blackmagic’s marketing department is savvy, they’ll pop one in the post. 😊
Please suggest the Black Magic Team to make this fantastic Micro Panel compatible with the edit and cut page so we can use it just like the speed editor.
It would be the most fantastic thing on their lineup.
Cue Omniscope waking up and realising they should be on iPad ;)
The extended controls seem to be the main upgrade from the gen1 micro panel, though it seemed like the rep wasn't totally aware of the new capabilities on offer.. but no RGB/ALL/LEVEL reset keys per wheel?! What's the thinking there?? I'm also wondering will they be thinking about redesigned mini and advanced panels too with that new wheel design and key functionality?
When is it in stock ? why can't I pre-order it with my local represntative ?
What are bout mini panel , will they update that one?
its been something like 7 years since the release.
Thanks Darren! Will you confirm if Resolve Studio comes with?
This doesn't tag a studio version along, per website.
@@SagarGanesh_ContentCreator They may be moving away from offering this until it reaches a price threshold.
interesting... I looked on their website yesterday and pretty sure had a banner saying included with panel as I thought that was a good deal, but today not showing...maybe they are still working it out but wish had taken a screen shot !!
This was REALLY needed for on set work.
Lots of smaller sets ran with the Tangent Ripple but those always felt a bit meh. Good for the price. But if you are working professionally as a DIT, you can afford that 500 price point no problem versus the 350 of the tanget.
Will this work on Window OS or just Apple OS only? Cause on BMD site say Mac OS...didnt show WIndow on it
Anyone want to buy an original Micro Panel?! haha. This thing looks like an amazing upgrade Darren. The shift up/down buttons are going to be a game changer.
I'm a bit worried about the backlit keys, if they end up being too bright in a dark grading room. Hopefully the brightness is adjustable.
Also, the knobs don’t seem to be backlit.. that has already been a problem with the other panels when working in complete darkness, sad they didn’t pull that out for this newer model
You shouldnt work in complete darkness really.
Darren ask if they will be showing Linux a little more love?
I have DR Studio running good. Speed Editor even works but Bluetooth no longer connects. Panel no longer shows up but does work on USB.
Wish I was there!!!.
RESET key combo on Speed Editor worked for me to fix the Bluetooth drop.
All ur videos r gr8 sir bit lets make video abt all kinda of nodes and how they use plz❤
czcams.com/video/kdTMRQP_V7E/video.html
What monitors did they use? :)
Thanks for sharing!
I didnt notice.
I'd need to try a demo version at a store BEFORE i even consider. Ipad screen would need to be at least 15inch to 17.3 max. Worst case scenario, id cash in on the mini panel instead hooked up to my PC. This looks more like run n gun color grading.
Can you make a video on matching cameras? I struggle with matching my a-cam (clog3) with my b-cam (c-log).
This could be good for you. I cover a lot of that in this. czcams.com/video/2CrWO2BhgPg/video.html Also here czcams.com/video/l3rOObH74TE/video.html
Does it only support mac os?
This seems insanely micro tbh. :)
Darren, do you calibrate your own screens? I’d love to see a vid on calibration.
No. I get a profesisonal in.
Doesn’t have a usb out as well ?
bought one and it doesnt work with the iPad app yet. I was a little upset about that. I know the update is coming soon but they never mentioned it.. like, at all..
How do you use your iPad for just displaying scopes - is that configureable within Resolve?? (Seems I missed that...)
by using it as a second monitor and then using dual screen on davinci (studio version only)
I would love to meet you, sir. I am also at NAB.
Does it come with the Resolve Studio License?
Not sure. Good question
What is the differerence between the (DE) and the (EN) Version of this Panel ? .... is the button description in German on the (DE) Panel or what exactly is the difference ?
correct. buttons labelled in local language.
@@DarrenMostyn Ok, thanks ! ... Then I'll order the EN Version.
no new mini?
Is this only for an iPad or can you use it also with a desktop?
It's not just for an IPad.
the way he stopped for a second when you said 'I ll use it for scopes', realising they never thought of it LUL
As soon as he said it, I thought the same. I have a 10 inch screen I use, that I have on a cell phone stand. It can fit right here now.
does it include studio key?
No
It really frustrated me on the first iteration that it didn't have add node.... Have they included "Offset" on the rotary knobs? (all they needed to do is when Offset is enabled make the luminance wheel or knobs to act as offset). Back light is nice. I'll stop complaining I have a mega list on Resolve that needs addressing but can't be stuff formalising it.
Yes offset is on the panel via one button press.
I was wondering this too. Would you say this is better than the other micro thats around 800usd? @@DarrenMostyn
Yes i would
Hmmm i want one 4:59
Does this also work with a Windows PC ?
yes it does.
@@DarrenMostyn Thanks ! ... Good to know :)
Thanks Darren top job as always it made me laugh and giggle at the same time 😂 I use BMD Video Assist 7” for my scopes!
Nice.
Why dont I have one?
I have been waiting to be able to afford a color panel. If you give it the thumbs up then that's good enough for me!
Does it only support MAC?
no
Blackmagic should've made a more in depth videoo about this. We know almost nothing about the new features and functions, and the official presentation showed an image that had different key function layouts. There seems to be improvements over the first Micro Panel, but those are not so well informed. Nice almost all their products have dedicated web pages, but none of the panels get one. It's even more important now that the three options available for purchase are fundamentally different in terms of funcionalities and usage.
I want one so bad! I just wish it cost a little less. Like $400 would be alright maybe, then it's a 100 dollar keyboard when buying the 300 dollar software. At 500 I kindof want to be able to use it in the edit/cut page aswell so like have the speed editor or part of it built in.
Maybe actually it would be nice if you could move the play head with the balls or the rings around them.
“I’m going to start with the balls”
always!
150K
The controllers always add a cool factor but a decent keyboard and mouse outperforms these panels at a fraction the price. Tough to understand the market or the hyp.e
Not sure how you are controlling 3 track rings and balls with keyboard and mouse? Plus the 12 primary controls?
Was it just me or did that British BMD rep seem a bit condescending to our Darren? Hands on a budget plastic USB controller.. What a treat for our Professional Colourist!
Not at all. Simon is a very good friend of many years now - we have good banter together! He is one of the nicest people you could ever meet and was certainly not condescending.
What a weird take lol.
ok u say it does not feel cheap, it looks cheap tho but ok
Sad. I bout the original micro panel about 2 months ago. 😭
still great bit of kit and its bigger if you doing longer sessions. Enjoy!
looks too small, good for travel or on the set grading, will stick with my old Micro panel :)
150k
I feel like this is playing at 2x speed but it's not.
Maybe next time you can actually show us what it does.
Fair.
I hate how Apple focused blackmagic is
Why was that so awkward? 😂😂
We had very little time TBH!
i hope not to expensive
Its cheap
@@DarrenMostyn great
