What did you think of these tracing paper tricks? Have you tried any of these?
I liked it I didn’t know about it will I watched this
I think these tricks are really good especially with using the colored pencil to go over your lines. What brand did you use?
@@nephtaliejalbert it’s such a good trick! I have the prismacolor pencils :)
@@TheBuzzedArtist Would Crayola colored pencils work too?
I used the plain paper with charcoal on the back. I just wish you could find carbon paper in my area.
I used to do tje first method in my teen years all the time with my little sister, nobody taught me actually hahaha. And you know you can make tracing paper using printing paper and oil? Just paint the whole paper with oil, let it dry and voila! Home made tracing paper
That is a great idea!!! :)
Tracing paper is a great way to teach kids how to draw. Our one child was afraid to draw and this way she could trace what she wanted and had so much fun. Cool idea on parchment paper. Blessings
Right!? Such a good little tool to inspire artist confidence :)
Love your sense of humor. Great video! I haven't tried any yet but looking forward to trying it out! Thank you!
Aw thank you :) I’m glad you found this helpful ❤️
Thanks, brilliant. I am an adult who has not drawn since the prescriptive, technical drawing days in the '80s. I have wanted techniques for TRUE beginners, and using lines, or boxes, within which to frame the objects was suggested, to help with proportions, and constructing outline shapes. I didn't know how to replicate the boxes from the sketches I was copying, and thought tracing them would be a good idea - but then I didn't know how to that with out some sort of drawing tablet. This is ideal. So grateful.
I’m glad this helped you to at least save some time and mental energy in your work :)
Nicely explained. Thank you! I am beginning to add images to my journaling, and I will be able to embellish my pages with your help.
Oh that is wonderful :) I’m so glad this helped ❤️
Talk about heaven sent !!!! This breakdown was everything that I needed !!!!!! Thank you. God bless
I’m glad this was helpful :)
I will definitely try this!!
Thank you! I was so grateful to find this abs have it be so easy to follow!
I’m so glad this was helpful :)
Thank You so much! I usually do my portraits freehand but this one of my granddaughter needs to be perfect! Thank you for all of your advice I hope that when I put down the paint it doesn’t interfere with the carbon.
I’m glad this helped! As a tip, if you lightly erase the lines so they fade just a little, it shouldn’t interfere with the paint :)
Thank You 😊
Thank you! This is a wonderfully clear and simple explanation. I look forward to checking out your other videos😀
I’m glad this was helpful!! :)
Brilliant idea
Great tips! Thank you!
No worries at all :)

Omg I so need to try this
wow, helping a friend from work making a hello kitty canvas. thought using tracing paper would be useful- i traced plenty of comics and cartoons as a kid, but never did any kind of transfer work
. this was so so helpful. thank you!
Glad it was helpful! :)

I’ve even used Unused Bounce fabric sheets👍🏼
whoa, now that is innovative! I love that :)
I did not know about this and I always mess up on tracing now I can do it way easier. So I wanted to say thank you and love all your vid

I’ve never used tracing paper before, but after watching your video, I’m ready to try it. Great instructions. Thank you.
That’s great to hear! Im glad this helped :)
You've NEVER used tracing paper???
@@stephencraig7130 No!!!
EPICCC and huge time saver + saves me from major headaches with getting stuff from shops given we are in akl, nz and its lockdown
I’m so glad this was helpful for you! Best of luck and stay creative (and safe) during that lockdown!
Thank you.
Thank you very much. Great information.
So glad this helped you!
So helpful thank you!!!
Glad this was helpful for you :)
Fun and informative! Thank you! Tracing is a valuable tool to help with creating a good reference. (I used to consider it 'cheating') It is a great way to get going on a project without the frustration of drawing it out.
Yes! Totally agree :)
very helpful video!!! Thank you very much!!!
Yay! So glad this helped you!
thanks for the DIY transfer tip
Any time!
Thanks for sharing, you're the best, I love you#
Yeah we were doing this exact same thing back in the late 60s. Old tricks never die. The newbies just pick them up and pass them down!
It's not rocket science what you're doing... Cheers!!
Thank you thank you!! I had a really good portrait on a tracing paper and i wanted to paint it with watercolor but i didnt know how to transfer... thumbs up
Hooray! I’m glad this helped you :)
I am not good at art but wanted to use creative fonts in my bullet journal. This video was great at explaining the techniques. Thanks!
Yay! I’m so glad this will help with your bullet journaling :) so awesome!
I believe practice makes you better so keep doing what you like and get better and enjoy it as well.
Thank you so much 😊
thank you for sharing.
My pleasure 😇
Thank you for this great video! I like to do digital art and I wanted to transfer my art to a canvas so I can do it with diamond drills. This was really helpful!
Yay! I’m glad this was helpful for you!
So before printing your final digital image, you'll flip the image horizontal so when you go transfer it the image is right facing?
Thanks. I needed to know how to use tracing paper!
I’m glad this was helpful for you :)
❤ Amanda, Thank You. 💫
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I loved the intro! 😂 so funny, and thanks for the info :)
❤️❤️❤️ I’m glad this was helpful
Cool
This is so timely, thank you! I need to transfer an image scaled to a 30 by 60 inch canvas. Wish me luck!
Ah! Sending you all the creative vibes!
Thanks Amanda for the tips. I've been pondering doing a collage of my maternal side of the family, but I can't draw and tracing seems like a wonderful way of placing these images on canvas and then painting them. I can paint but can't draw, go figure.
Hahah much more common than you think ;) I’m glad this was helpful for you!
Thanks!
Omg thank you so much!!!
i love this omg
I’m glad this helped you!
Useful technique 👍
I’m glad this was helpful for you :)
What can I use at home to cover the graphite so it doesn't mix into paint on the canvas? I have seen hairspray used but not sure how acrylics will adhere!
Hmm I don’t have experience with hairspray but you can try rolling a kneaded eraser over the drawing to lighten the lines so it won’t bleed. Or you can try using colored pencil
I knew about this. I actually also used gift tissue paper as tracing paper. Was difficult bc so thin but it did the job.
Oooo that is a great one in a pinch!
this is the best tutorial ever and you are so funny. Thank you :)
Yay! I’m so glad this was helpful :)
Omg you are a lifesaver
👍🏼😊
Thanks for the great tips Amanda! I was just wondering what the videos names were where you traced over canvases that already had paint on it because I am kind of in a situation like that and would love to use the tip?
Hey! All the painting tutorials I have on my channel use the method I show in this video :)
Wow this video is awesome great intro
Hehe Aw thanks 😊
Great video
Thank you so much 😊
Thanks a lot. I bought tracing paper with the idea to learn how to draw anything, and i found you. I liked your sillines at the beginning 😅
Hehe I’m glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful!
This is my latest hyperfixation and I have no nackground in art so, uh, thank you. This was supremely helpful.
yay! I'm glad this was helpful for you!
Hi! Your video is awesome, thanks so much! I do beadwork on light coloured leather and other white fabric. What would you recommend for that?
Hi! Glad this was helpful! Hmm, I’ve never worked with leather but as for white fabric, charcoal pencil might do the trick. Perhaps test on a small area to see how the transfer works :)
@@TheBuzzedArtist Will try that! Thank you!
Thank you so much :))
No problem! :)
Wonderful video and explanation, thank you
Glad this was helpful for you!
@@TheBuzzedArtist Thank you very helpful, I am doing my illustrations and silly me forgot how to use tracing paper lol...this will help so much with my paintings
Very well explained 👍
Thank you so much and I’m glad this was helpful!
First time on your page and I love it within the first 00:30 , thank you !
Aw yay!!! Thanks for the feedback ❤️
Love this thank you. Could you use the same first method on ready made clay pots not glazed ? Thanks
Hmm I would think so? I’ve never done clay pots before but as long as you have enough pressure and tracing material, my guess is that it’ll work! Perhaps try it on a small area to see if the transfer works to make extra sure :)
thank you! I'm trying to transfer a drawing onto a tile that i prepared a while ago, and I usually just use a bright light behind the canvas to do it... can't do that with a tile tho!😂 Very helpful!
Hooray! I’m glad this was helpful for you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Cool ;) great work! Subscribed. Didn't know you had two different channels Amanda. Seems like you're still great inspirer for lots of people lol.
Aw that is so sweet :) thank you so much
@@TheBuzzedArtist Lol Amanda you haven't looked up who I am. Sup moose.
@@유사남 haha waddup, Minkyu!
I loved your video, but the best tip I got was the kneaded eraser in a log to lighten everything!!! Genius! Thanks
Glad this helped you!!! :)
Will a lot of charcoal get on the water color paper( in the background, not the lines) and will it be hard to get off?
Some of it can, which is why you’ll want to use a kneaded eraser to grab any excess off before painting with watercolor. If you’re planning on painting with acrylic, another idea would be to use a fixative on top of the charcoal before painting.
I do acrylic pouring. Can I pour on the canvas let it dry and then apply your technique?
Yes I think that should work :)
I love me some tracing paper. If you have a ball stylus tool you can use that like the pencil and it will protect the tracing paper. You can even use a dried up ballpoint pen as a stylus.
Yes! That is also a great tool for transferring :)
HI if the canvas is is painted with a background colours and dry how do I get the transfer to show through
Hi! You would use the same techniques as you would do in this video. The transfer can still happen quite easily :)
Your hilarious ❤😂🎉loved your video thx
Aw thank you 😊
thank you for being an ORIGINAL. Love your teaching style. Thank you... Looking forward to using this transfer process... I've been a little nervous about starting the water color painting. I have sketched a few beautiful pictures... that I am really pleased with. My husband says no worry... You can always draw it again.... :(
:) you are so sweet. And I totally relate to the fear of messing up a painting - even if you haven’t started yet. But like all things, painting is expression and look at it as a learning experience for you. You won’t ever learn or get better until you make lots of mistakes. Plus, I’ve always found ways to save watercolor paintings from complete “destruction” lol by getting creative with other mediums. It’s all in how you learn and I wish you all the creative flow and energy. Low stakes, high reward, queen bee!
She is not an original! My gawd! I've been doing this since the late 60s and my older siblings handed it down to me.
Everyone did this in art class!
This isn't new, ya know. It's not rocket science.
Effective as it may be and it's a sweet video, but one could hardly call this genius!!
Have a great day! Have a day! 😃
Can I use tracing paper to trace a pic I want to put on a wooden mini barrel I’m working on?
Yup!
Great video do this tracing paper works on denim?
hmm, it might work on denim!
Thank you 😊
I see you're transferring your drawing onto another piece of paper. I'm curious what the outcome would be with an oil canvas; a surface that's much rougher than course paper. Would the transfer successfully move over finer lines and details, do you think?
I do this with paper and canvas - even on acrylic coated canvas, and it works great. Not sure about oil but I would imagine it would work well
👍👍👍👍🙂
Will this work on fabric? Such as graduation cap?
I think so- you’ll probably want to try it with chalk so you can see it better :)
I prefer using a projector for my portrait but your video was intuitive.
Absolutely :) it’s always good to have multiple options, right?
I only learned the second one but the first one is genius
Right!? It literally saves my sanity 🤣
Thanks, worked for me to occupy my grandson
Hehe I’m glad this was helpful!!!
Does this work on toned paper
My guess would be yes!
Which tape are you using
For this I am using regular washi tape
Can I use a regular mechanical pencil
In place of the sketch pencil? Yes 👍🏼
Thanks for tips. I have had tracing paper forever, just wasn't sure how to use it. 😂
Glad this was helpful :)
Can this method be used to trace images on jeans
Probably! Maybe if you use a chalk, that might be a stronger transfer
Can I use baking paper???
I’m not sure what baking paper is but I did test it with parchment paper and it worked :) I made a quick short talking about it: czcams.com/users/shortsrYAJKCaQV7k?si=uJzePgjVynd5CV8i
Can I trace with a graphite pencil??
Yes! But be very generous with it and try using the softest type (like HB) if possible
@@TheBuzzedArtist so basically I have to use the softest charcoal or graphite pencil 🤔
Carbon paper works well for the second technique
Yes!
Do you ever use carbon paper to transfer? Great tutorial btw.
yes! I made a video talking about using it too: czcams.com/video/PJU0IEaDSRc/video.html
My mum said that the girl who gave you the tracing paper reminded her of me LOL!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Will it work on metal? Like Copper?😊
Hmm that’s a great question. I’ve never tried it before using that material so im not sure. But, if chalk or charcoal can transfer onto copper, then i would guess it can work
We just didn't have the Internet and CZcams back then.
These are old trucks from long ago
This made me laugh but it works !
Woot! I’m glad this helped you!
im here because I need to replicate an exhaust flange for my car. I'll try and see if i can find these supplies at a local shop or target near me.
Absolutely :) Target should have all this stuff too
Would parchment paper have the same effect as tracing from the first technique. I had left my roll at my dorm 😅
Edit: Nevermind I found some sheets
Hey! Glad you found some. For future reference, if you’re in a scrape, parchment paper can work. I experimented with this and it worked pretty decent- not great but good enough: czcams.com/video/xfCCsKzeXlI/video.htmlsi=UGXrEH5Kf-mxb2EA
Can you transfer drawings onto tote bags?
Hmm I think so?
