  • STRAIGHT POOL - MIKE SIGEL, 39, and DALLAS WEST, 50, were in the Finals of the 1992 U.S. Open Straight Pool Championships. West, in 1975 and 1983, was the winner of this event. Sigel, three-time Player of the Year, was just making his second appearance. All eyes were on these two as they were considered the best in the field. Both players are inductees into the BCA Hall of Fame. Both were at the top of their games. Don’t miss this one.
    Bill Staton and Grady Mathews shared the action in the booth.

    `They mentioned Sigel ran 150 and out against Mike Zuglin after Sigel got up and down over the first shot about 4 or 5 times and then fired it in and then ran 150. Zuglin in his very next match ran 149!!! Good stuff. I am sure accu-stats has both matches on vimeo and lots of fun to watch.

    Nothing but the utmost respect to the new school 14.1 players and approach - just deadly, no fear nuclear style straight pool. But there is just something so beautiful, elegant and compelling about old school, finesse 14.1 that is far more interesting to me. A classic match here with some excellent tactical safety play....

      I would rather watch Mosconi play this game a little more than Hohmann (but both are my favorite, with Sigel being a close 2nd).

      @@SlickRick4EVER good choice!
      I played weekly two times with Thomas Engert 1988 -1990 straight pool and 9ball. Great Player!
      Oliver Ortman's style is also mindblowing!

    At 18:08, Dallas lifted his cue after contact, losing the power necessary to get the cue ball table far enough.

    STRAIGHT POOL IS THE only real pool game..the rest were invented to play in bars etc.......8 ball especially......thats why i will never claim a guy who hasnt demonstrated his ability to win at straight pool...to be the greatest player....and i will not say any of todays guys were/are greater than Mosconi..or Greenleaf....Crane....etc....

    • @Salesman
      @Salesman Před 2 lety +1

      Whether we like it or not though, games like 8 ball is here to stay forever. Hell, the pro game is going on what? 50 years of 9 ball now?
      Regardless, I'll keep watching and supporting 14.1 as much as I can.

      Yes, it was. The ref must not have been watching closely since Sigel was jacked up and he thought that Sigel wouldn’t foul, but he sure did.

      No foul, he did not hit the cue ball twice.
