I just want folks to remember that show impressions are not reliable, as mentioned in this video. Do not make purchase considerations based on show impressions, wait for full, thorough reviews.
Thank you for visiting our booth at the High End show in Munich. And thank you for the high-caliber technical discussion about proper hearing with one's own ear-related transfer functions. This is exactly what sets the OAE1 apart. Compared to conventional headphones, it will sound different to many listeners because it's the first time they've listened with headphones using their own ear-related transfer function. This is unfamiliar, but ultimately better than always listening to music with someone else's ear-related transfer function. It takes a moment to get used to this new experience! Try it out. Take your time, use your own music and equipment and listen.
Enjoy the music!
Axel
Herr Grell, please send a pair to Egghead, Manila.
You know I've been twice now thanks to living in munich, and both times have I had multiple people next to me testing multiple $1000 daps...by connecting their Bluetooth headphones to it. I was at the cayin booth, and someone picked up a 500g, $3000 nutube dap and preceeded to exclusively listen it off his bose headphones. Like the tube sound was imparting its way into the headphone. I used to think audiophiles were deluded, I know believe they genuinely don't know.
I can't imagine the level of cringe one must have experienced seeing that
That's not even half the cringe you get when you see all the people wearing headphones like the HD 800S backwards and not realizing it.

I was there with my GF. We have a very fortunate relationship where even if i or her personally have no interest in something the other does, we do find enjoyment with them together. But even she knew when a headphone just sounded plain wrong. That was exactly our experience of the abyss stuff and that new Grell designed headphone. They're that bad.
That grell headphone has a 5 stars review on headfi. Thats what happens when sponsors are also your moderators.
The hard truth.
You posted this three hours before Herr Grell posted a comment in this comment section.
I hope he did (didn't) read it.
@FilipinaVegana he's a grown professional adult who knows how to take criticism. It is what it is.
I hope he read my comment, understand the difference to traditional headphones and give the OAE1 a chance.
Great meeting you at the show, see you soon in London!
Yes, the es1a was made as a tribute to the Omega. I brought mine to canjam socal last year and even the stax rep thought they were omegas at first. One of my favorite headphones .
Great show guy .
Thanks .
The new iem from Meze look interesting 🧐
Thank you ❤❤❤❤
Do you guys have plans to post Final Audio's talk? Sounds very interesting I'd really like to see it.
Resolve and Golden Sound, my SUPER FAVORITE Headphone guys.
Recently got the Caldera Closed and I love it. It changes a lot based on the amp and impedance. On the HA-300mkii it was a too warm in the treble, but on the Aegis and Burson Voyager it is honestly one of my favorite tunings. Can't wait to hear some of this new stuff at CanJam SoCal in the fall. Great video guys.
I don't see hows that possible. It has a linear impedance. The only thing that could possibly be affected by output impedance would be its volume.
@@daviddier9865 Not sure the why of it. The impedance doesn't just change the volume I can tell you that for certain.
I have Telos Active grounding in my main Hifi system. It's an obvious improvement in sound quality. Telos look after customers and a dealer in Australia very well.
Yeah their stuff may sound out there at first glance but their resonators are based on Bill Stierhout's tech that's been in audio for about 20 years now (used or copied by Combak Harmonix, Telos, Nordost, Synergistic Research, Kemp Audio, HiFi Tuning, Audio Magic, etc.). Their power conditioners and grounding devices all use Duelund and Mundorf capacitors and aside from the resonators there's nothing above the norm. They use Schumann resonators in some of their stuff as well, again not new tech, not too out there. The stickers, are coated in typical things that can have benefit on a larger scale (graphene, rare earth oxides that are often anti-ferromagnetic, tourmaline for its' anionic properties, vanadium pentoxide for antistatic properties, etc.), but I don't know how well they'd work on a smaller scale; the stickers mainly seem meant for small capacitors, fuses, and the like. Their products all seem very well made, I've tried two of their devices, both had a benefit, you can tell they were made professionally. I've taken apart other devices by larger companies that looked much less impressive.
You can not imagine in the slightest how hood hearing can get😁
GoldenSound's zeos impression is so damn good.,
Did you try the closed back Aune SR7000? I heard it was a prototype with not yet final tuning and there to actually get feedback from KOL's
Excellent video
I think HA-300 was tunned with Susvara but that's for MkI. I assume that MkII is not far away though but in the end there is a tube differences.
I eventually gave in to fomo and ordered the Grell OAE1 so we’ll see what I think of it when it arrives, as long as the distortion is kept under control I guess I can use peq to tune to my preference, at the purchase price I don’t mind if I lose a bit selling it on.
It was really bad. The treble destroyed all timber of the midrange much like having too much mid bass does for the mids. (I'm not trying to make you feel bad, I've blind purchased too after getting such reception after)
listened the 1st time to ZMF there (Atrium and Caldera) and ordered myself a LTD stabilized Atrium from the last drop :) can't wait for it to arrive.
for me Caldera Open on solid state was better than Atrium, but on Tubes the Atrium had more magic to them.
Did you all see the new 6Moons Review on the all new RAAL 1995 Magna Headphones ?
They are the NEW HOLY GRAIL of Headphones....The World's First Headphones that sounds just like your listening to HOME REFERENCE SPEAKERS ! OMG...
That's already a red flag. It shouldn't sound diffuse enough to imitate speakers. But that guy has never given a negative review and has never even given a review any less than "very good".
Excited to learn about the surprise standout product. I wonder what it is?
My highlights were the Meze Alba and the Warwick Bravura, also the HD620S was very good for a 'cheap' closed-back
Bravura is absolutely faulty. It distorts so heavily that it is un-listenable
@@x32i77 I personally didn’t encounter any distortion. Maybe at 80-90db? I don’t listen that loud anymore
@@Tssukiii it's starting a 12 o clock
@@x32i77 hmm weird, I was at around 12. But at home I would listen more quietly anyways, that was to compensate the show floor. Didn’t hear any distortion at that point though 🤷♂️
@@Tssukiii it's very song dependent. I was in the quiet booth with the CEO and engineering team . I showed them the distortions and they were absolutely shocked 😳
They couldn't believe it that they invented a faulty headphone . The song that I showed them was : ' Demi Moore from Phoebe Bridgers .
The gold Aperio didn't distort but was on the edge at 90 DB
The bravura almost died completely.
They thought they had a defective unit first so they replaced the cable but this wasn't the case . It's the amp + the non BHD driver that they only reserved for the Aperio .

Now I only need the Bravura hahaha
I might of been in the same room as you. Was that on Sunday when they came in?
@@daviddier9865 Yes!
Ah, then I was sitting on the other side of the HE-1 with the aperio. You preferred the bravura to that?
@@daviddier9865 I heard all three and while I admit the Bravura was a bit worse (could also be imagination though) even if I had the money for the Aperio or HE-1 I‘d get a Bravura
It’s that good and they are not worth the price increase in any way
Also the Bravura’s tuning was a little more up my alley than the other two I think
He-1 had upfront vocals which didn’t seem all too natural in comparison I‘d say
@Tssukiii The problem with the aperio was it had bump around 1k, which made vocals sound strained and kinda boxy. The measurements back that up, but I seem to have become really sensitive to it. The bravura also had it, but far less so, it was the more balanced and coherent headphone of the two, so it's interesting to hear others' preference to it. I think if it was a rise into the upper midrange instead of a bump, I could of ignored it.
The only other problem with them is that they are massively dynamically compressed for a wired headphone. People keep saying hifimans lack impact, but they're still worlds apart from the bravura. You play the opening of Dont Bring Me Down drum fill, and it becomes very obvious that it can't do what a conventional headphone can. It is better than the older staxs, though. I'm not saying it has no impact, far from it, only that the gap between e-stat and conventional headphones for dynamics is so enormous that there is still a long way to go.
They told me the technology is so efficient that they can make it into a wireless system, which, for my use case of not wanting to be held to a desktop system, sound very compelling. Genuinely, when there is a aptx lossless or WiFi lossless headphone that is 90% of that, I'll pay quite a ridiculous amount for it, which I'm assuming should a product would demand.
we will be excited for that full diana dz review 🙂
It's really bad. Even my girlfriend who has no idea about audio walked away from it in less than 30 seconds.
I found it was solid with the Feliks Envy, but to be honest far away from solid for the price
Of all the Endgames there I found the Bravura to be the best value and you already have a DAC/Amp with it
Abyss 1266 was pretty good, but worse than the Bravura and still pricier without DAC and Amp
And comfort was horrible
It was just as bad as their other models. I also had it on that Felix amp. It had way too much energy in the lower midrange around 1k, making vocals sound honky and unnatural like a drive-through speaker and had very sharp recession around 4k that swallows all fundamental harmonic of string instruments. It's for people who want to believe it mimics a live recording by pushing back harmonic overtones, making everything echo slightly, but that comes at the cost of vocals and instrumental timber being off by a substantial degree.
Did you guys hear anything about the Aune a17 amp?
Go Meze !!!!!!
Guys, what headphones are these? 21:48
There are prototypes of the first Full-Size Planar headphones from Shanling ;)
Imagine riding a bike for 15 min to get there :o
i found out first hand, how my hearing is affected by sound/hp recently got 2x iems, the first pair sounded horrible flat etc, it took my until the 2nd pair to push them in the ear, twist them and angle them until i heard bass... i dont want to do that again lol, but maybe those angled hp are up my alley or a hearing test
Congrats, Resolve, on embracing the look #iykyk lol
Always shocked at how much background noise there is at these shows, how anybody can take a meaningful impression about an open back from them is surprising. Maybe overall tonality but quality and detail? I'd have so much doubt on my impressions of that.
Individual elements of a song, no. But you can very easily assess the timber and tonality of instruments and vocals, just like you can in a live performance. That's not really affected by auxiliary volume.
Yes, that was a big problem! I hope next year the High End Society will set up a “World of Headphones” hall without speaker demonstrations! Or we have to have a closed soundproof booth.
Did you spend time with the Susvara Unveiled? I just saw the press release

Probably not even worth explaining this to someone who has such strong beliefs against the high-end. But whatever, I've entertained you with this one comment. Just can't express an opinion nowadays, huh 🤷♂️
@@djhmax09 bro it felt like it was falling appart just by touching it. You compare that to the mezes or DCA stuff and it's a complete joke. I heard it on yamahas own system in Japan. Their set up. Its genuinely untenable. It has way too much energy in the lower midrange making vocals sound honky and unnatural like a drive-through speaker and has a Grand canyon level, very sharp recession in a pina region that swallows all fundamental harmonic of string instruments. It is a genuine failure in making an authentic reproduction of the human voice and instrumentation. You will never provide me a souce chain that will save something that is such a unmitigated failure.
Either Andrew or Golden Sound. Have you ever had a chance to demo the SRM-T8000 on the SR-X9000? When you buy it as a bundle it comes down to $4500, while not cheap. How does it stack up to other premium options out there. Do they still still play in the same wheel house or is it completely overshadowed by other energizer options.
Wait, both of them together are $4500? You mean just the amp right?
@daviddier9865 Just for the energizer.
You get them as a package deal for $11,000. But the headphones themselves cost $6250.
So you get something like a $1400 discount compared to buying them separately.
And there are things I really like about it. Like being able to switch between sources or play two headphones at a time.
It's a hybrid tube design, tube input stage and a solid state class A output stage.
So seems like a recipe for a slightly tubey and lush sound signature. Something I really appreciate in an amp.

Is Final going to be relevant again? Seems like their IEMs desperately need a refresh and/or dramatic price slashing to be competitive with ChiFi IEMs. They have way too many low-volume SKUs that you can't even get from most of their biggest online retail partners, and most SKUs are very old and are being out-competed by ChiFi IEMs a fifth their price. DMS' recent review of the Final D7000 and D8000 headphones made them seem like, just, total commercial flops with how niche the tuning is and expensive the prices are.
Axel Grell supposedly designed the Heavys headphone and I think it's pretty awful. Weak bass and extremely piercing treble. Odd 4 driver per earcup design. I sometimes wonder if he didn't actually design the HD 600 and just took credit for it for someone else under him on the design team because his solo works are just really pretty weird and, at least with the Heavys, not that good.
