I got the Hype 4 instead of the Monarch MK3 because my experience with UM MEST MK2 the EST drivers have such harsh treble and I am very sensitive but if they get the tuning right i will get the Monarch MK3 gotta demo them first

the biggest takeaway I got from this is that it’s pretty much mandatory to listen to a pair before buying, I haven’t been doing this but I think I definitely will be once I go up the pricing brackets…

Audiophiles NEVER liked Ipods, were mediocre sounding devices that can only play horrible mp3's. Any cheap modern portable player is better than this things.

About 75% of it goes clean over my head as I'm brand new to this whole situation, but I've already digested several of your videos over the last couple of weeks as I find it really interesting and really enjoy your style. Of course I'm learning heaps too and will look forward to the day when I can invest more into audio.

This guy is really oversimplifying this. Lets see theres also hearing loss over time to due age, long exposure to loud noise, earwax buildup. Oh and "Taste". If im a basshead it has nothing to do with insertion depth or how KZ and TRN shit out a new crap iem every week and they cant "figure it out". They just put out trash just like headphone companies do. Lastly i think your graph about bass preference just comes down to the fact that iems are a more niche thing and they are generally targeted for a more specific audience generally

I received my set and just wanted to say that these are the real deal. Finally there’s an IEM that sounds detailed without being fatiguing. No shouty mids or scratchy highs. No weird BA timbre. Punchy bass from the biodyna driver. These just sound natural without noticeable coloration so you can listen to the music vs listen to some IEMs. These IEMs just get out of the way so you can plug your brain into some beats. I know you’ve gotten some crap for hyping these up but I’m glad you did because I probably wouldn’t have tried these if you hadn’t.

I have the Black ones --- These Dune Edition look AMAZING!!! ...My Issue is they dont Best the "PX8s" ...So sad!

Never stopped using them since the first one I got new, the iPod Mini 2nd Gen. I've had an iPod in my pocket pretty much constantly for 20 years now.

How do I actually control the volume of the device? Any headset I had, to date, had volume control (either on the device or on the cable). Do I have to raise or lower Windows' audio level if I want to change the volume?

Thank you for your Review. I really liked these a lot. I heard these in an electronics store in Taipei a month ago and actually thought first that this was the D8000 (pro). The seller didn't (could) explain anything to the headphones. At first I suspected that it was a previous model and these stood next to the older Sennheiser HD820/800s. I was very enthusiastic and unfortunately couldn't compare them directly to the D8000, but a few days later I heard the D8000 pro. Of all the headphones I've recently heard, I think that one of the Final s DX000 (pro) are the best for my taste. I didn't like the Austrian Composer at all. I also really like the Meze Emperyan II. The Meze Elite was a little bit underwhelming.

Still trying to solve the comfort issue. I can rarely wear an iem for more than 20 or 30 minutes without it becoming extremely uncomfortable.

I just want to use one earphone and don't want to be tired of switching devices all the time depending on the type of music. I listen to 80% classical and 20% jazz and pop. I have also seen the mm500 so far, and I think the instrument part is quite good, and the vocals are in the front, so the female voice sounds good. Do you recommend other headphones at this level? I think the sound field of the mm500 is okay. For classical music, the instrument tone is not too modified. , the low-frequency dive is enough for jazz. I don’t know if I understand this right?

2:00 well, there is a possible difference because flac needs to be decompress first, and making any gear to extra work, in theory produce extra noise. personally I could not tell any difference in my Qtest with Jcat PSU, but you need to try for each DAC to determine if it does or not a difference. I just prefer wav so I don't have to worry later.

Question: What are they factory tolerances of Dunu for the tuning of this IEM?

I have been running my DT1990 Pro's on my 16" MBP M2 and I only need to run most tracks at about 30%-40% volume. I have had a few Topping, Schiit, JDS Labs, Fiio, etc. dac amps over the last few years and could not tell a difference between them and the MBP with these headphones. As long as I run the DT1990 Pro's, I have decided, that for me no, there is no need for extra hardware to get great sound.

IEMs in the warmer 6 months, headphones in the colder 6 months. That's my rule.

Another case of japanese tuning. AirPods Max with more bass is far beyond EQ is a must imo.

The D7000 might be a load of fun, can't wait to demo them...

Some users at HeadFi reported rattling of the driver at normal listening volumes. I've personally heard the driver rattle with the D8000 while demoing it. Examples of tracks that rattled the driver: 2049 by Hans Zimmer and Partition by Beyoncé.

The issue with better dacs is that you need a better source, amp, and speakers / headphones to fully hear it.

The hype is real with these but they are riddled with audio going out on one side issue. Sending mine back this week for another pair. No audio in the left ear. Lasted about 4 months. Very easy on my gear.

A planar open-back with heaps of bass? Sounds right up my alley... until I saw the price. 💀
