    I visited the Bay Furnace Historical site in Upper Peninsula located at E7900 W, M-28, Munising, MI 49862 I also went down to the Lake to check out the rocks and see if I could see any slag glass. I Seen many iron stained rocks and many pieces of slag glass that came from the days when the blast furnace was used in the 1800's. The slag glass is a by-product from smelting the iron in the blast furnace. Seeing this is a historical site I did not take or keep a single rock or piece of slag glass, even though a person told me I could. Never trust what others tell you, they may not know the law. But what a beautiful place to visit. I had a wonderful time here and will return for another visit some day.
    Thank You for Watching :)

    Thanks for the trip. It's nice to see a national park that keeps our history alive. Most prks you can't keep anything you find unless you have a permit.

    Do they decorate year round? That blast furnace is in pretty good shape. So awesome! I love the slag glass. The purple is so pretty. Shouldn’t it be posted if you can’t keep them? 5:30 that’s cool. Is too bad it can’t be tumbled. 6:40 that one has an interesting pattern. Such a pretty view those houses have. Oh they’re yurts. That would be fun to rent! Whoa! 28 is a bit too cold for me. You are dedicated. What a fun adventure. Even better it wasn’t crowded.

      Christmas, MI is very small. I seen a huge Santa board thingy ( about 15 feet tall ) I thought I had it on video but I could not find it. I went through the town in what seemed to be seconds and then I was in Munising, MI. This place was so fun to explore this time of the year. No tourist yet :) Loved the peacefulness of the whole day except for the cold and wind. Once away from the Lake it was more like mid 40's and not windy. The Lake can really make a big change in the temps. Thanks for watching 😊

    That building was neat. Can you make things out of slag glass like jewelry? You never see slag glass in Florida that I know of. I love all your adventures. 😊

      Lisa many make things out of the slag glass. I have tumbled them years ago when I found tons of it in my home town. You would have to research your area for historical blast furnaces, then maybe you can find some slag glass. I see many find it in other States. Thanks much for watching😊

    Went to my favorite beach and was disappointed on all of the new homes built up on it. It is not the same as it was 5 years ago. The rocks on the beach were colorful and now they are all stained yellow and orange as the new homeowners are pumping the water out of yards. The tannins from the yard water are hitting the surrounding coves and staining all of the beautiful rocks. It almost looks like iron stained rocks but they are tannin stained rocks.

      Oh Jim that sounds like a real bummer. I had a favorite beach near me that got bough/ They built a business and put up no trespassing signs. When I seen that I could of cried. I am so sorry your favorite beach is getting destroyed. Time to find a new one. I have found a couple sense I lost my favorite but none are the same as the one I use to love going to. Hope you find another beach you love to rock hunt😊

      @jimknarr Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@upnorthadventureswithccc Thanks! I knew you would understand. I know that your favorite beach no longer has the natural beauty it once had, but can you still access it for rock collecting? At least according to Michigan law, you can walk onto a private beach up to the highest water mark.
