Bottom paint is one of the most important parts of boat maintenance, and it's essential that you apply it correctly to avoid water damage. In this video, Brian from Puget Sound Composites talks all about this.

I like the idea of a lighter color under the bottom paint to show when it is time to rework.
Nailed it. Indicator coat for Anti-fouling is a must.
Very nice to have. :). Thanks for watching!
Great content, as always. I like the attention to detail and how you prompted him to explain his process. PSC is a great outfit. I wish there was one like it near me on the east coast. Thanks.
Much appreciated! Thanks for watching!
You took it the right shop, Brian does great work and takes pride in what he does. Definitely recommend PSC to any boaters ln the puget sound area
Thanks for that!
Good video. I can't believe only 50 people hit thumbs up. Very informative. ❤
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
Was this improperly done from the factory?
It was improperly done by a dealer on a new boat sale.
Ok so a dealer chosen painter vs who Ranger Tug uses? Just want to be sure since we are getting paint week after next! Almost time for delivery .
Just a comment about Sharkskin. It is not a good option for boats that stay out of the water for long periods, like on a trailer or long periods dry docked. Here is a quote from the manufacture's data sheet.
"If the vessel is launched, and then rehauled,
air exposure should be limited to 72 hours. If out of
the water longer than 72 hours, Sharkskin will
oxidize and lose its antifouling effectiveness.
Therefore, an additional coat of Sharkskin is
recommended after 72 hours of air exposure from
haul out time."
Good to know! Thanks! Sound Investment (this boat in the video) spends all it's time in the water.
