- Hey Guys! Today I am going over my prayer alter that I have in my apartment. These are things that I believe are essential to having a home alter. These are not decorations!!! These are tools I use to pray and give glory to God! I highly recommend having a dedicated space in your home to Jesus!!!

That is NOT practicing the faith. The only way to practice is faith is to live the narrow way. It decisions, actions and how u treat others. Non of this is following Jesus. I'm appalled that fellow Catholics don't know their faith. Its NOT about trinkets.ur meant to have Jesus in ur heart and not on a shelf

@@SuperLuckao The reason we have statues on earth is whenever we look at them we get a taste of heaven, and no we don’t worship statues we only venerate the statues, whatever statue or Saint you better rate they will pray for you in you’re path to heaven.

@@SuperLuckao How do you know that, in addition to her icons, statues, etc., she does NOT live the "narrow way"? Also, the items she displays are not merely "trinkets" as you call them. They are religious articles (typically blessed by a priest) to assist us as daily reminders of our faith; to strengthen our faith, to concentrate on prayer, etc. Also, please remember, that first and foremost, our precious Catholic faith calls all of us brothers and sisters-in-Christ to practice charity. God bless you.
We Greek Orthodox take our holy icons to our church and have the priest to bless them! So nice to see a young women embracing your faith!

This is great! I have my own little home altar in my living room. I prefer to keep fresh flowers 💐 on mine along with a big picture of Jesus, a crucifix, blessed candles, Lourdes holy water, essential oil of Frankincense, my Rosaries, Bible, devotionals. I don't know what I would do without it all!

On my altar I have in my room I’m still a kid I have collected statues over the years, I get most of them from my local church! I keep a huge golden crucifix a statue of our Lady of Fatima, of course a statue of Jesus! A statue of Jesus carrying the cross, whenever I look at the statue of Jesus carrying the cross I remind myself to carry my cross during the day! God bless!
Katherine, you are on fire girl. You ooze the Faith, your smile says it all. How blessed we are to be Catholic (Strong). We all have different devotions, there are of course the main elements which you have Jesus (The Trinity), Blessed Mother & St Joseph. Let us be happen where we are with our faith. At 77 been there seen it all and was never deserted. God Bless you, may the Blessed Trinity, Mother Mary & St Joseph continue to walk with you and Bless you.
I am Catholic, never thought of starting an altar in my surroundings, the thought of starting one has got me so happy at the adventure in the search for my items and to research saints...draw them closer to me...why hadn't I done this sooner, it will be small but a nice area, box(es) to hold more is a great idea, I already know I will want more items with me, close to me. God bless you, I am so blessed to know God loves me.

When I first joined the Catholic Church I got a Pieta prayer book. It’s small and has some beautiful prayers and a sweet picture Of Our Lady in it.

Just constructed my altar ! I am in love with it. A more dedicated place to worship, and to help bring myself closer to god! Wish i could share pictures on comments, I’m just waiting on a new cross I wanted, and a statue I got of our blessed mother and baby Jesus

Blessed Mother Mary leads us to Christ. John 2:5- His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever He tells you." I love how our sister Church, the Eastern Orthodox call her Theotokos- the God Bearer. And I agree, Mother Angelica should definitely be a saint. I pray for her intersection often.
Love Our Lady of Lourdes, my favourite Marian apparition, Saint Bernadette is so wonderful. Our Heavenly Mother loves her so much. Love your alter. Keep going, your videos are really good. God bless you.

This is the first time I seen Catholic altar by western. Back then I thought Western Catholism people just go to church on Sunday. And decorate the Cross above bedroom & done. Never thought they do have altar. Its great to see this. I am Catholism in Vietnam & they even put portrait picture of parents & grandparents under altar. Sorry for my bad writing English.

The only thing I think you have missed for your altar is a dim light (ie either a low-wattage table lamp or a battery-powered candle).
I have my altar set up-always have since I was a wee girl-in my closet. My current home has a walk-in closet in my bedroom so, one wall of it is taken up with my altar.
Tips to creating a home altar on a budget:
1. Purchase-or better yet, repurpose from a free site or FB marketplace-a console table. It is a perfect table for an altar.
2. Find a formal dining room chair and cut the legs off to about 8 inches from the floor to DIY a prie-dieu. If you are someone like me who has physical challenges in getting up from kneeling, use a formal dining room chair with arms. Also, if you haven’t room for an actual table, you can add a piece of wood-stained to match the chair. Mount it on the top of the chair back, either flat or at an angle with a “lip” to hold a prayer book or Bible.
3. I know “kids today” would opt for playing Gregorian chants or hymns on their cell or via Bluetooth, but I like to keep my altar space electronics-free to avoid distraction. Preface said, I keep a Tibetan/Himalayan singing bowl for the instant calm that the sound brings to my mind. The tone quickly focuses my prayers and/or rosary recitation.
4. Lastly, if you are not bothered by scents, a small vial of frankincense is also a great way to focus the mind to one’s prayer intentions.

I would say Add a candle or two! For me, I can only really tune in and focus on my prayer altar with that cue of lighting a candle to show that now is a time of worship. It helps me remember to focus on prayer and not be distracted by other things in the room.
I am a Catholic too. I have my altar in my bedroom. I love Jesus, Mary and Joseph. I love all the saints, angels, and archangels. I pray the rosary to Virgin of Guadalupe and I also send healing prayers to anyone who needs them. Thank you for this video.
Awesome Home Altar. If I may suggest one item, it would be a Metal of St Benedict to help against evil. After all, it is what our Priest uses in Exorcism. If possible, it is important to have your Priest not only bless the icon but also say the Prayer of Exorcism in Latin. Most Priests will refuse, so just have the prayer written for them. It helps. My Rosary is a War Rosary, and it's all about St. Benedict. A thousand Blessings to you and yours.

Very beautiful! Your altar is pretty cool too. I am happy with my altar setup. What I am concerned with is having my home ready for the 3 days of darkness where every room will be safe from outside views. Almost there! Do have the blessed candles though.
Love your zeal of the Holy Ghost!❤❤❤ Maybe a white doily, crochet knit or change cloths with the seasons of the church. Also a crucifix over by your door and a scapular for protection with a St Benedict medal, and a holy water fountain when you leave your place. I like to recycle jars and put a flower for Mary on my alter, luke a green olive jar. Thank you for your inspiration! God bless!❤❤❤

About the scented rosary: monks or nuns make the beads by hand out of rose or jasmine petals. The scent lasts for ever.
I hang the holy medals in my rosary in the space for the Glory be, If there are too many, I spread them among all my rosaries. Hope it will help.

I have a personal chapel at my Hermitage, and something that is always a must have, is candles. You can always offer up an intention for someone or yourself and you can use inexpensive tea light candles, if you want to save. God bless you everything looks so wonderful, may the Lord bless you and keep you both now and forever!

Thank you for sharing a little of you. A prayer corner is a massive help in strengthening one’s faith. You asked for comment on anything we feel you are missing - a statue of St Michael is what I would suggest.
I would add both the Divine Mercy picture (or prayer card) and a pamphlet to pray Divine Mercy Chaplet. And I would add the Purple Scapular with daily prayer printed card (laminated).

I was just thinking today how I don’t know many other CZcamsrs in NJ, just one other one, and then you pop up! I’m also in north Jersey. Our lives are pretty different since I’m at 37 year old mom of 4. I’ve been on a faith journey for probably almost a year now, cradle catholic and knew next to nothing about the Catholic faith. But I’ve been learning a lot and I started OCIA classes a couple weeks ago. I feel like Catholicism is so misunderstood.

I am in the process of redoing my altar - I am making mine up in a shelled out form from an old heater . I have started collecting statues from the Little Drops of Water catholic statues - simply as they are so sweet and childlike - they remind me to have a child like faith in God - I used to clean and decorate my grandmothers altar as a child - even after she passed I used to look after it - it was a huge old wooden glass structure like a mini church and I loved it - but it was very large and my father dismantled in and got rid of it - I have always missed it - I find having certain statues reassuring - St Micheal the Archangel - St Francis- St Philomena - I also keep blessed salt on my altar and incense.
Blessed Salt, Holy Water and Holy Oil. Scapular’s. Brown and Green. Second or Third Class Relic’s. As a Benedictine Oblate, I have a Prayer Alter and am Single, in a small Apartment. Having a Prayer Alter, help’s to live the Monastic or any Vocation.

Additionally, just holding your rosary is seen by the Church as a prayer in itself so when you don't have time to pray the rosary, just hold it. That is true about Holy Water, Satan hates it. When Holy Water is consecrated it is exorcised to banish Satan, and his demons, from it.
Love your altar! I dedicated a space in our living room for my altar. Crucifix, statue of Mary, Joseph, Icon of St. Therese and Our Lady, Holy Water, blessed bees’s wax candle and rosary. We are also originally from North Jersey. 😁 God bless you.
