    Thank you very much for your help and the precise description of the test points. I have just repaired my Sonicare connecting a thin wire from the test point of the button directly to the resistor. I have also added a few of silicon on the broken rubber o-ring. I do not know if it is a good thing but everything is working properly at the moment.

    Thank you for this series of videos. I have a water damaged brush, with one MOSFET getting very hot on the Deep Clean (last one) programme. I even get a wisp of smoke from the PCB sometimes. you mentioned about shorted MOSFETs in the video - do you know what might cause this? Is it track damage under the MOSFET itself for example?

    • @letsfixitgarage
      @letsfixitgarage  Před 4 lety +2

      Water damage is quite unpredictable.. it could be long time contact corosion or simply water droplet shorting mosfet out.. smoke could be coming from element itself or the pcb track burning through.. I would clean it in ultrasonic bath and afterwards clean it with alcohol then check what damage it has.. elements, tracks.. if mosfets burned through question is it resonable to repair.. maybe use it as spare parts donor..good luck in repair!

    Thank you so much for your videos! They are a life saver. I recently took my Diamond Clean apart to change the seal. All went well - I put it back in its casing but when I pushed the button, it would light up for a second and then die. So I thought maybe it needed charging and so I put it in the holder (without its casing) and it started flashing. Yay! After an hour or so, I thought I'd just check it. It turned on, vibrated - all perfect, all very exciting and then abruptly stopped dead. Now it won't charge - it won't turn on. I am so new to electronics and don't have any real tools but will order some. I just don't know where to even start. Does it sound like a fuse? Could I just need a new battery? If it was water damage and there was water somewhere I couldn't see, would it stop it charging? Any guidance at all appreciated. In the meantime, I will continue watching all your videos!

    • @letsfixitgarage
      @letsfixitgarage  Před 3 lety

      Hi! Check my video for water damage and check MOSFET control traces to the chip and MOSFET itself if it's not shorted.. usually water damage is under the board not upper side.. but again if it doesn't turn on at all it could be the fuse or even some chip that burned through.. these kind of damages are difficult to advice without seeing the board..

      You might want to check the connections on the battery. The tab welds that connect the battery to the board can come loose. If you take a small screw driver, you can lightly push the battery under the PC board. If one of the tabs are loose, the battery will pop out. That was the issue with mine.

    These videos are very helpful thank you. Mine is not powering on. My PBC is PBCR3. I get continuity between the power button TP1. When I use my meter from the hole to the right of the power button to the longer U1 chip it powers on, so I assume the path to that chip could have a problem. What points on the board would I solder a connection to and from? Can you remove the board without un soldering the battery connections? I'm able to detach the upper black clips but not sure on the lower connection. Thanks.

    • @letsfixitgarage
      @letsfixitgarage  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes the path from button to the chip is broken. Usually under the button on the backside. So when you will take off the board just connect the test point to the track beneath it or run a jumper wire from button contact to the chip or the point that I show in the video.. and to take off the board you need to desolder not only the battery but also two points on the charging coil.

    • @letsfixitgarage
      @letsfixitgarage  Před rokem

      I thought about it and I always coat the repaired parts with clear coating but I wouldn't bet my whole money on the coating alone. I'm principle original seal is very good protection if you take care of it. if you don't let toothpaste buildup on the seal it holds very long. if you start to see any buildup on the seal just replace it and you will not need to worry that whole brush is full of water and if not PCB then electromagnet will start to rust and corrode.. and yes I have some repaired boards, if you need some write me an email it's in the about channel section.

    Hello! thanks for the videos! My Diamond Clean started to turn on by itself so I opened it and the magnets were together and also was kind of wet inside. I did not do much besides letting it dry and clean some oxide with a brush, but now when I connect it, it is buzzing/beeping while on its charger, one long then 2 short beeps. Do you know what can I do ? Thanks!

    • @letsfixitgarage
      @letsfixitgarage  Před 3 lety

      First off all I would suggest taking the board off it's plastic frame as there will be oxidation and damage under the board this needs to be cleaned to. Don't turn on the board till it's completely dried. And I assume the button will have some contamination inside so it would need to be cleaned too you can see how it's done in my last video czcams.com/video/vC-TKIwYcbI/video.html

    Great video! My toothbrush works fine but when put on charger it detects it but vibrates with 2 short beeps and 1 long one and doesn't not charge. If I hold the power button it stops for 3 seconds or so but then resumes the vibrations. Could it be a water damage issue?

    • @smodman910
      @smodman910 Před 2 lety

      Actually, for anyone wondering, I managed to fix this charging issue by taking off the power button and cleaning it. My guess is the power button dirt/water damage was causing it to be pressed while charging hence the 1 long beep followed by 2 short ones, usually that is enable/disable the easy start. Although reassembling the power button was a pain and I ended up having to use some electrical tape to keep it in place because a pin broke on the frame that holds it in place.

I doubt that they have original code in these but on the other hand it's not that difficult to program few patterns when you read them out with oscilloscope :) so yes they are ok :)

    Mine turns on, but the motor is vibrating wrong and makes a very high pitched sound. I cannot find any damage, but the inside of the toothbrush was full of water. Something must have shorted out, I just can't find it. edit: My board cannot be removed without cutting plastic, so I cannot inspect the other side. It recharges fine and holds a charge, but when I turn it on, the motor has that problem and the light flashes orange very quickly for about 20 seconds. Maybe it is garbage time.

      You can press the plastic pins with pliers or just cut it off the ticker part and it will still hold in place. You need to look both sides as usually bigger damage in on the underside.. and yes water damage is difficult.. it can be anywhere..

      We'll try it out for at least few times without the housing.. if nothing heats up it could be safe, but with water you never know what damage was done..but from my experience it is quite reliable toothbrush with good components I saw a lot of water damage and components usually hold through..

      Does the charging light glow yellow/orange? Maybe the battery is dead.. as the toothbrush vibrates when charge level is low. or if the upper seal is damaged the water damage would me my "favorite" defect.. that could be confirmed by opening and inspecting the insides..
