- Zuko's Scar: Netflix vs. Original Avatar Did you catch the difference?
In the live-action, Zuko fights back in his Agni Kai against Fire Lord Ozai, but hesitates, leading to a brutal scar.
But in the original series, Zuko barely lifts a finger, bowing to Ozai the whole time!
Which version do YOU think is better?

Both have the merits. OG shows how brutal and ruthless his father was and why he was so confused. Netflix showed how he's actually a better firebender then he was and how he has good in them.
I mean animation is more realistic cause most innocent minded kid would refuse to attack his father out of respect n family values.
Maybe.
teenager could beat fire lord ozai 😂😂😂 i think fire nation is not strong at all.
This episode made me cry. Live action zuko is so good!
Obviously original is better... Avatar is a story or character growth... Not a story of perfect heroes from birth.
I mean, my dude, it wasn’t his fire bending that needs the character growth.
@@rayesafan9628 it is also his fire bending... What the use of the dragon dance then? Zuko learned the value of fire bending instead of focusing on lightning bending. Zuko isn't a strong fire bender like his father or uncle nor like azula... Zuko is good with swords and with shitty temperament. In Netflix is the perfect prince temperament with noble aspirations... Zuko ain't like that until he found his mother or at least until he did the dragon dance. Zuko is focused on gaining his father recognition to the point he is blinded by it and can't function to any good reasoning that's why he betrayed uncle iroh.
@@rayesafan9628 It is though, he spends the series learning how to firebend in different ways
Tbh I do like this scene more than the animation but I feel like people like the other one just because it’s the original
Live action is good. Cause it is so near to the reality. Zuko cant burn his father. It is not good. He refuse it because zuko has good heart. But father hit him and give a mark to understant to him the compassion is a sine of weakness
That’s literally the same thing in the original but worse. It makes sense that a 13 yr old boy would tremble with fear, and not want to fight. But I guess Zuko is just that brave right from the get go, meaning the confrontation during the eclipse will mean pretty much nothing.
In live action ozai is sad to do it but seconds before he says compassion is a sign of weakness so if ozai didn’t burn zuko then ozai was calling himself weak
The netflix one is better if only he was not originally written as a ruthless and evil person and is one of the strongest fire benders. By giving him emotions like caring for his son doesn't make sense entirely, OG is better.
Not every villain needs to have a soft spot, some villains are just pure evil and doing it for themselves.
You mean to tell me, in the live action, a teenager managed to almost defeat the fire lord?! At least make it believable 😩 their family dynamic is so different. Sometimes different doesn't mean bad, but this time it does
I would rather think Ozai wasn't trying, he knows he would kill zuko 😂
@@FazDubz exactly
Ozai tested him most likely
In the Netflix series it is clear that Zuko would never win against Ozai but he has some skills. I think it is smart to show that Zuko has skills but Ozai is ruthless and powerful.
He couldn’t actually beat him. Ozai just wanted him to actually give a good hit, which he didn’t.
Animation was goat
The one where Zuko does not want to fight so the anima
Original is better
Right watch the cartoon because I felt unfinished
Animation is way better. It serves to contrast Zuko confronting his Father during day of black sun. The once trembling boy who only wanted his father’s love now strong and brave having learnt the emptiness of the fire lord.
both is good but the netflix shows Zuko finds his father's way of treating the soldiers is cruel so it show he can opposed his father
That's why he was punished in the animated series, didn't you watch it? 😂😂
Netflix's version of scar origin is definitely better
Right.. Because a 12 year old can put up a fight vs a fire bending overlord.
Netflix dropped the real scene because they are a bunch of lgbt losers who are afraid to show parents disciplining a child.
if you're like me who thinks OG is better, hit like 👇🏼
Nah animation is better it shows how ruthless the fireloard was from the start so at the end everyone thought that Aang had to kill him and there was no redemption
Live action
OG better.. Asian tradition son wll never attack father
Orignal is better showing zuko's incompetence
Series are much better than animation
Mark my words if The Avatar movie never came out and Netflix still made this the whole community would’ve been pissed about the Avatar Live action it’s just not getting the hate it deserves cuz the movie was that bad
The live action. Because even though zuko can easily scar ozai, but he hesitate. And it shows that zuko is really a good person
But it then shows Aang doesn't even need to master the 4 elements or even use the Avatar state cause Ozai is not that strong even two elements would be enough to stomp him out
@@Couragethecowardlydog509I agree, Ozai should have mopped the floor with Zuko and showed him no mercy if they wanted to go down that route. Ozai wasn’t supposed to teach Zuko a lesson he was merely dog collaring Zuko.
Yes but, the dynamic between Zuko and his Father worked better in the original. Zuko was 13 and wouldn’t have ever dreamt of fighting his father, so he tried to beg for forgiveness. As the series goes on we see how Zuko becomes more brave, furthermore how he begins to resent his father. This all comes to a climax during day of black sun when Zuko confronts his father, Ozai attempts to kill him, and he survives it using what his true father taught him. Looking at the big picture here, but I don’t think Netflix is gonna use this perfect character development.
@@thomasthecommentrater3703 If they don’t use Zuko’s character development the writing won’t make sense. It’ll be like Witcher series all over again but worse since more people will watch a cartoon before they open a book. Not saying it’s not possible since it’s ’Netflix’ but it’s definitely stupid to change Zuko’s arc.
Also I like the fight, it shows the power struggle in their relationship. Ozai wants Zuko to be strong but his ideology on strength is twisted. Zuko doesn’t want to strike down people with malice in his heart. Even though Zuko wouldn’t fight Ozai in the cartoon it’s still faithful to the cartoon’s works. However what wasn’t faithful was the fact that Ozai nearly got bested by a teenager. Ozai’s supposed to be a fire bending prodigy.

Netflix adaptation is better
If Zuko at age 14-13 was strong enough to hurt the all so powerful firelord then Airbending prodigy Aang doesn't even need the 4 elements ..... maybe two will be enough , the netflix adaptation doesn't make sense
Zuko's attack will not actually damage Ozai. Its just a punch for Ozai actually. Its not a killing blow. Ozai still was much much powerful than Zuko. Being weak doesn't mean you are not able to land a single punch to your opponent. 😅@@Couragethecowardlydog509
Original is way better
And more logical because isn't Zuko supposed to be around 13-14 years old at this point in the flashback , and he is strong enough to almost burn the face of the strongest firebender ???? that ruins the entire premise of Aang's arc.
Nostalgia is about to blind hella people with this one
Nope just logical ..... In the current show Zuko is like 16-17 and he has been searching for Aang for 3 years meaning he was 13/14 years when he got the scar ....... And if he was strong enough to almost obliterate his father's face at such an age then there's no point in Aang the airbending prodigy to even master all 4 elements or go on the whole elements arc he might as well go and face the firelord after learning water and use the Avatar state like that crazy earthbender in the original suggested
@@Couragethecowardlydog509 Can't you see that Ozai was just messing with Zuko during Agni Kai?! The entire stunt looked like cat-mouse game, an attempt to test if Zuko is as cruel as himself. Ozai didn't showed his true potential yet.
@@jadythemovielover7417 It’s more realistic that a young boy of that age would only revere his father. On top of that we see that Zuko’s heart was in the wrong place, believing that he deserved it because he was weak. As Zuko develops more he realizes that his father’s love means nothing, and that Iroh is much more important to him now. This is all capped off when Zuko tells Ozai off, then uses his uncle’s technique to survive an otherwise fatal lightning attack.
