they filmed the show in 2021 and this is from 2024., they naturally grew closer overtime
thiss. hoping for a season 2, directors for goodness sake, let them be themselves and let them freestyle more.

Btw the security prison (Boiling Rock) warden's actor is doing Koh in Netflix's live action
watching sokka and zuko, with the actor's dynamic, would be so awesome for season 3

To be fair alot of them are new actors but I wish we saw more genuine moments like these highlighted in the show. It seems like the writers glossed over real life interactions that contributes to a character’s chemistry
That's the directing and writings fault. I'm sure they'll improve that if they have a second season.

Gordon is 14, he was 10 to 12 at the time they started the project, Kiwaentiio was 15 and she will be 18 this year and Dallas and Ian were 20 to 21 at the time i think. They will improve by the time s2 and s3 come out, at least that is what i believe. Im not judging them harsh either, bc they are very young, they also learned all those martial arts in order to be perfect in every move and i know that acting is not very easy in general on its own , so imagine having to move like a martial artist and act accordingly to the script. And the director plays a major part in their performances as well. Bc Kiawentiio for ex, bc people said she was not so good, in other works of hers, when she was a kid she had a scene where she had to act angry and scream and she was genially good! So, she can do this! And even if she was not so "good" she can improve. Everyone can improve.

The harsh reviews this show has been getting from both critics and fans is pretty disheartening…the cast did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life
To be fair it’s more so getting mixed/positive reviews if you look at scores, it’s just the side of hate has been louder
They didn’t bring them to life, not that it’s their fault. The snow runners didn’t build the chemistry that the OG team avatar had
Terrible dialogue/writing. The cast is fine though katara is the weakest actor. Hope they still continue s2. I guess the good news is that netflix goes by watch time metric, they dont care much for ratings. As long as Avatar reach a certain watchtime and has legs, it'll have a second season.

My favorite thing about those four is that they gave their characters their own vibe and voice instead of mimicking the original series. Dallas' Zuko isn't Dante's, Gordon's Aang is different from Zach's and so on. The only thing that doesn't change is the cabbage merchant which is James Sie's exclusive property.
