So Once again, I'd like to hit on that point again from the video, In previous videos I had said the Super Hornet was a better dogfighter in terms of performance but actually its the Legacy Hornet I had that backwards. I had read an article on it a while back and remembered it the other way around so my apologies for that mistake. It amazes me that people forget about the YF-17. The aircraft that lost out in the single seat fighter competition to the YF-16.
The F/A-18 was a larger, heavier, version redesigned for carrier operations. The super Hornet is a still larger version of the F/A-18. Updated and upgraded with more powerful engines and improved electronics.
I would like to see two fights. YF-16 vs YF-17. Also F-16 vs F-20. Good fights to watch.

Def cool to see, yeah Super Bug is bigger and heavier that normal Hornet, so dogfight performance not being as good makes sense. But it has increased payload and longer legs. Just what happens when you try and make one jet to replace every other one you had on the carrier deck. Oh well, BVR Super Bug vs Tomcat/Legacy hornet next please!!! Keep up the awesome content dude, love it!!
@@Kozak806 I was not disagreeing or trying to say the the Super Bug is a good fighter, it made sense with the direction that they were going streamlining everything. Just saying that building a strike fighter is going to have differences from a pure fighter/interceptor, tactics and training of pilots will compensate to use your strengths vs opponents weaknesses.

Seems as long as the viper can keep enough altitude and rate fight the hornet doesnt stand much of a chance. This fight would have been different in a Fox 2 aim9x dogfight though

One of my favorite squadrons and aircraft! I also love the Lockheed Martin F-16CM Fighting Falcon ( Viper ) as well and the only way that is want to see this outside of DCS is at Exercise Red Flag at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. Gotta say the superhornet looks powerful with those big air intakes and larger size.
all the tech that goes inside is what makes it a demon monster, but fwiw it can only hold its own in a 1 circle fight. The canted pylons and weapons stations have a lot of induced parasitic drag that prevents them engines from performing at 100%.
How about a collaboration of some of the “Jester” punch out videos and your responses when he punches out? They make me laugh.

Wondering how much the HMD would change the fight between a hornet or viper vs the raptor in a very cloudy BFM fight.
Need to do some Mustang vs. Mig, and some old school jet vs new school jet.
I’d like to see this fight with 9xs. Do HOBS missiles disadvantage the Viper more than in the past? Is it harder to fly the higher knots rate fight with them around? It feels like that’s incompatible with jamming the WEZ.
The F-16 looks so puny and weak compared to big, aggressive air superiority fighters like the F-15, Su-27, etc, but it's a such a formidable aircraft. I didn't know when i was a kid, but now i do at last.

That's super interesting. I was aware that the F16 is quite maneuverable, but I still thought the Super Hornet would outclass it.
F-18 Is like a jack of all trades, F-16 is a pure dogfighter
So is the regular hornet.

as I was flying the F-14 in DCS today I had Jester say "100 Knots, And you wonder why I keep ejecting on you." I've never had a problem with Jester Ejecting mid fight, but when I heard this I had to Laugh and think of GS
Legacy Hornet is also more survivable then a Super Hornet. Super Hornet is strictly fly by wire whereas the Legacy Hornets have a backup mechanical system. If I were choose a Hornet would be a Lot XII with GE F404-402 engines which had a power increase over the 400's

Depends on ROE.
Most thought the same around ODS, but the ROE a lot of the time required a VID. If a conflict starts in the air, I guarantee it would be from a bomber intercept with escorts that went hot. Everyone WVR as interceptors form up on the escorts. That goes hit it's the definition of a furball.
Fights will start and sometimes end farther out, but there's always a chance that a low bandit slipped by and now you're merged.
BFM will always be an important aspect of aerial combat. Although it would rarely come down to a guns only fight. Yet, that's still a very real possibility.
Wait, so if its not Longshot this time, then who's piloting the viper? The Viper pilot seems experienced... Even tho he lost the one-circle fight, he still did a great job there, considering that the Viper is not design for that kind of fight...
