      It is kind of funny. It also covers up when I start cursing because the tub wont go in.

    Hey bro, I'm new to You're channel. I love what You do. I learn something new every time I watch You on Facebook. Anyway, I've been a Plumber for 10 years, shark bites are completely safe to use behind walls, I even put them on boilers and hat water heaters if I have to. I don't recommend it, but, in a pinch, they are worth every penny and You will never have to worry about it leaking. Keep up the great work and keep pumping out those videos, I love it. Thank you so much for starting this You tube Channel.

    @The Handyman when you install the fiberglass backer board is it necessary to waterproof it with redguard? if not, why not and if so why?

    • @TheHandyman1
      @TheHandyman1  Před 6 lety

      Its already water proof. I usually use mesh tape on the seams and redguard them. I didn't on this one.

  • @adventuresofahandyman4446

    I Think I noticed the backer board didn't go all the way up. is that because it's safely above the water line? did the remaining tile attach to drywall? not not picking just trying to learn. thanks! great work btw

    • @TheHandyman1
      @TheHandyman1  Před 7 lety +3

      Yes remaining tile attached to drywall. Its not in a wet area that high up.

    New subscriber, wish I had a reliable handyman such as yourself. I have a guy but doesn't have same range as you but he can do a lot. I have a similar bathroom with a old heavy cast iron bath tub. I checked under the house and where the tub is I don't have a floor, I assume its anchored into the wall somehow. How would you go about doing that? I assume removing the old one and laying new floor? Other then that it would be a PIECE OF CAKE.

    Hey man, another good video. Some questions around the tiling (I've only tiled once so I'm still learning): Why do you choose to back butter the tiles instead of doing a full section? And I noticed there were no spacers on the decorative strips, is that the way you're supposed to lay those pieces?

    • @TheHandyman1
      @TheHandyman1  Před 7 lety +1

      Back buttering the wall tiles make it much cleaner. Its a huge mess troweling it on the wall. The decorative tiles come on a sheet there is a small spacing between them. There is also a small space between the decorative tile and the square tiles. Hope this answers your question.

    I'm remodeling an apartment and want to do exactly like you did in this video. The question I have is how you connect the drain pipe from the tub to the sewage line. I saw you dropped the bath tub in place that was it. There was nothing to connect? All you had to do just to line up the pipe? The connection was not sealed?

    • @TheHandyman1
      @TheHandyman1  Před 7 lety +1

      I did all my connections in the crawl space under the bathroom. There is a P trap and black abs pipe that goes to the main line. The tube drain kit will connect to a 90 that will then go into the P trap then go to the main. If you are replacing an existing tub the plumbing should already be in place. If there is no basement or crawlspace you can do the connections from inside the wall behind the tub. Hope that helped a little.

    @ssimpson3288 Před 6 lety

    I feel like this is one of those things where you have to love the job. For me personally as someone that's not a handyman I would have given up after 5 minutes with the tub and I doubt I would have even gotten that far.
    Just watching you do this stuff makes me tired.

    How did you get the drain assembly tightened to the ABS pipe below the tub, it appears you just let them fall in place with each other and left it loose.

      but since the tubs in the way i figured it would have been hard to nail it or at least to put it first before setting up the tub. I'm really new to this and i appreciate your videos and your time.

    • @TheHandyman1
