Unpopular opinion, I like the extra “going exclusive” step. I feel like that would be nice honestly to know no on is dating other people while deciding if they are ready/compatible to enter a long term relationship (which is how I view bf/gf).
If you are strictly looking for a spouse asap then I can see how this step wouldn’t be necessary.
Agreed. I’m someone I have to feel the connection with to even invest time on someone, so I won’t be wasting my time and energy “hoeing” around. I’ve gone the exclusive way, always. At least from my end, but time showed me whether the person was serious about me. If they were, they wouldn’t have been talking to other people.
Yeah! So for me I had a major crush on my now husband, and I was fully invested in wanting to get to know him to make sure there weren’t any red flags before becoming his gf. I wanted him to also be very serious and have good intentions about dating me. I’m a hopeless romantic so I truthfully probably would have been a little offended if he was still wanting to date other people. I think this is actually really normal though, maybe just the term is a new thing, but I swear this has been a thing for a long time.
