Many of you suggested I do this when you saw the storage tank. I decided to put a little twist on the traditional dutch aquarium style and a little stone boarder in the foreground. Loving how it's turned out and should look amazing in a months time.

MD if you will lower water level to the bottom of Hang On The Back filter outflow ramp. Just that water would cover few mm of the ramp, water from the filter will not drop down to the bottom of the tank but instead will jet on the surface. Try it, on my filter AQUAEL FZN-2 it is like I described. It has small lip a the bottom of the outflow ramp, if I looked close enough seems your also has.

I've been waiting for this video! I have a 20 gal long tank I'm about to setup and I want to do a dutchstyle type of tank but not soooo densely planted. This tank came out amazing! I love the rocks!! Thanks for the awesome video!

As another commented, if you are planning to use plastidip or other peel coat paints put down 5-6 decent layers or you are going to have an impossibly hard time peeling it off. If you try to peel it off and find its difficult you can try adding more layers, letting it fully dry, then having another attempt. Make sure you do it in a very well ventilated area as this stuff is nasty toxic when being sprayed, and I often still recommend a facemask that filters organics (designed for painting, fibreglass resins, pesticides etc). Its much much worse than normal spray paint I promise you!

Be looking forward to see this grown out. There is a lot of plants in this scape. To keep the price of them down requires a lot of propagation in advance.
The waiting is always the hardest part, as you want to see the end results. Patience is an art that requires one to slow down and enjoy the process, sometimes we do well at it and other times not so good.

Even though Dutch tanks do not have rocks or driftwood in then, I kinda like the way this has turned out. This was a cool built indeed! Wondering which fishes will be added to it at a later date! Satiated yet excited!

You should get some egg crate light diffuser panel to help give you some height takes a little more planning but worth it when you don't have large enough stones

MD you ever do an update on this tank?! I'd absolutely love to see you do a massive tank that's 100% a Dutch style aquarium. Zero rocks. All I see online is nano tank style dutch aquariums. You have a crazy amount of plants and id love to see a 4 foot+ sized Dutch one! Low tech!! Then trimmed broccoli style over time .Would look so so good!!!

Try looking at ‘transform a tank’ rollerable paint! It’s what I use on mine and it’s peelable too!

What about adding some sort of baffel on the output of the HOB filter to divert the water flow out over the surface of the water rather than down?

MD please read this I had the same problem with my hang on the back if you measure how long the ramp is and then get a water bottle cut it to that length and when you have a circle cut through the middle and it makes itself a clip
Idea: For your next aquarium, try perhaps doing something that is similar to the Buddah aquarium. Something like Stonehenge, or the Easter Island head's, in the instance where the aquarium would be fully carpeted, resembling the grounds on which the Stonehenge or island heads stood on.
Just an idea I thought would be fun to implement 🙃
