    I found after using just a flat grind for couple months that I had better cut control . I think once your motor skills get used to the grind it can outperform a scandi. Its all about technique , and a convexed bevel on a full flat is an awesome feather grind.

    • @westcoastbushcrafters

      That is really nice! The Joker Nessmuk (flat / saber grind) is also such a knife we use a lot for making very nice feathersticks with.

      That and unless the scandi knife is rather thin, it won't slice a potato. Literally just acts like a wedge and splits rather than slices. Not the best for food prep.

    Hey guys,
    Great video! Very helpful! Thank you very much!
    I would like to get a Casström No 10. I'm not sure about the steel yet. They changed the K720-steel to the Sleipner-steel in their production, so I can choose between 14C28N and Sleipner.
    What do you guys think about the Sleipner steel in combination with this knife?! Which steel would you recommend?

    • @westcoastbushcrafters
      @westcoastbushcrafters  Před 9 měsíci +2

      Hey! Great to hear that you find it a useful video! Thanks!
      Okay good question. We would have chosen sleipner steel for the scandi no.10 because it is easy to sharpen very sharp and hard. For the flatgrind we would have chosen the 14c28n steel because that one will be used during fishing and outdoor cooking adventures.
      Hope that helps! Take care

    • @JMKrauss1
      @JMKrauss1 Před 9 měsíci

      @@westcoastbushcrafters Thank you very much for your answer!
      I guess i'll give the Sleipner Scandi a try.
      Honestly, I never used a knife with Sleipner-steel, and didnt find many reviews about it either.
      Some people compare it to D2, which I dont like too much, compared to 14C28N.
      Thanks again!
      Keep your awesome videos going! I really enjoy them a lot! :)

    • @westcoastbushcrafters
      @westcoastbushcrafters  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I guess that would be the Woodsman right now. Like that it is small, compact knife and that it has a quite a thick blade with scandi grind. It gives also a lot of control when bushcrafting because of the blade length.
