- My DiResta GIANT Razors… Now LIVE HERE: imakeny.com/products/diresta-...
This is the full build of my first canoe from www.bearmountainboats.com The Model is a Ranger 15'.
Tools used in this Build: jimmydiresta.com/canoe-tools-...
This is my first canoe build ever, I learned lots on this build. I genuinely "went to school" on this one! I am looking forward to my second build on the same mold and rectifying any mistakes I may have made on this one.
I started May 2018 and finished in Nov 2018 . by the time i finished it was too cold out to test drive it. i'll have to wait till spring!
Thank you to www.totalboat.com for the Varnish and Epoxy!
and www.shopbottools.com for the CNC
and / nataliepage for the music!
Voice over of this will be at my patreon
next week

Jimmy mate, its builds like this is why so many people look at you as their inspiration and why you really are The Godfather!! MUCH RESPECT!
well my first thought was: this guy looks like the boat will sink instant. but it will have an apple logo
@@lowdt my grandfather's built in 1910 still works fine, though it has a canvas exterior.
@@mmercier0921 Michael, in the years before the miracle of epoxy canoes were built with canvas set in a coat of wet paint, then the exterior was also painted. As you've stated some of these canoes are well over 100 years of age and still water tight.
After watching the video advert i was still skeptical. But when i finally downloaded the plans czcams.com/users/postUgkxZF0EMnrujZvqHhGkxiz559uIABJWR9TG i was very impressed. The whole plan was just as you said in the video. Thank you very much. I now have a large and valuable collection for my woodworks. This is great!
I’ve watched this 4 or 5 times over the past couple years...never not entertained, it’s a beautiful work of art
One of the most artistic pieces of woodworking I have seen. Usually something like this is seen as a finished piece but seeing the build my amazement is without bounds. Thanks for sharing your talent and your skills.
11:58 into the build is awesome. My absolute 2 favorite youtubers... Mr. Diresta himself and Mr. Handtool Rescue.. great build Jimmy. The canoe is Amazing
Absolutely gorgeous! Jimmy, I have nothing but respect for you & your craftsmanship. Especially after this kind of build. This my friend is nothing short of a piece of art. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Jimmy proves once again, you can never have too many clamps! Awesome build, still amazed at your skills, workmanship and patience.
It makes me angry when other people succeed
Great job Jimmy. Spent my life as a carpenter and always have wanted to do one of these. Thanks for the wonderful video. Great inspiration.
What a fantastic build. Brought back some nice memories when I got the chance to build a yatch. Which took 2 yrs to build. I enjoyed every minute building the yacht and got into the local papers. That's what you call a beautiful work of art. Loved watching the build of that beautiful canoe. absolutely stunning. 👍👍👍👍
One of my favorite things in the world is watching fiberglass vanish as the epoxy is applied. This is arguably my favorite video of yours. Keep on making.
Didnt know what it was Thank you for the information

Making a canoe from scratch is so fun, learning so much. We made a few with a group of friends 40 years ago. Still gorgeous and used! Great website! Thanks!
What a joy it was watching this build! Thnx so much, Jimmy! Priceless though, considering the hours and craftsmanship you put into it. But the end-result is nothing less than priceless itself. Well done!
czcams.com/video/7jAJTgrHxpQ/video.html
I have to say... I've been waiting for some sort of boat building from Jimmy for quite some time, without even realizing it.. It's a culmination and amalgamation of woodworking skills (and clamp collecting) I've built a small plywood sailboat.. some sort of strip built boat has been on my mind for a while... Also I was thoroughly amused by the use of the wallpaper removal steamer for steaming the stem pieces ( just bought one a few months ago for removing wallpaper from a bathroom, now I have another use for it )
Thanks Jimmy, it's a fabulous bit of inspiration
The fact that you did THIS all while doing all the other very cool builds is amazing.!
Best time spent today watching this wonderful process building this beautiful piece of art. You did a really great job, congratulations. I learned a lot even in the fast forward parts. One of my favorites and I'm glad I found your site.
wow to the millimeter. Was looking for pro definition, you just gave it with your stunning work.
The end result is simply amazing. When perfect engineering, art, savoir-faire and fines meet... it gives a perfect canoe.
Thanks for sharing. will share with my friends this video.
Untuk?
I can't believe he was able to finish a canoe in just over 30 minutes, it's amazing how fast he moves his hands.
I hope it's sarcasm
*Production! Gotta turn over 10 a day to pay the bills..*
Beautiful build. Thank goodness for Filson, Shopbot, And the crafting Talents of all involved. Brilliant.
I love watching people make canoes but you have made the best looking one I have ever seen. Keep up the good work.
I don't watch a lot of 30 minute long CZcams videos. But I sat still and watched this one very intently. It was really cool to see you do such a big involved project. I can only imagine how great it felt to put the done stamp on this bad boy. Amazing work as always. Thank you so much for sharing the journey!
You just have to watch every DiResta video intently and attentively! Not depending on the length! 3 minutes or 60 minutes! Awesome everytime!! And even I am a craftsmen too, I am envious everytime he shows his skills!
Wait this was 30 minutes long ? Didnt even notice...

Excelente trabajo, me gustaría verla navegar.
Man, I just want to live the rest of my life building and spending time in boats, kayaks & canoes like this one. Watching this video was very therapeutic for me. Thank you!
Me too!
the same I feel
I think it's a masterpiece....as delicate as an oud, as well crafted as any surfboard, and almost as tough as a sufboat....amazing skill set...bravo.
This is awesome. Made me a little emotional. I built two canvas canoes in 1975. Junior high school shop class. That was a 1 semester option class my teacher requested I take 4 semesters. I built a wooden canoe the following year for my teacher. His brought back so much of that joy. I can relate to your love of creation. Also enjoy "making fun" I think the name is. I found that on Netflix a few days ago. Diresta on the pickup stuck in my head as I scrolled youtube.
Everything you touch turns on pure gold. Congratz from Portugal.
Absolutely beautiful! I think we happened to have built two very different boats right around the same time. Easy to underestimate how much work they are but so worth it.
Craziest thing I have ever seen built. Enjoyed watching every second of it.
Absolutely beautiful stunning gorgeous. I’ve always wanted to build one I grew up with cedar strip canoes but never got around to it other things in life just got in the way. Thank you , Stay safe and God bless you 🇨🇦
Even having done this job several times, I still learned a few new tricks. Nicely done.
34 minutes!!! AWESOME!!! was expecting a long video... the VO version must be crazy good
Once upon a time, I used to think I wanted to build one of these. Having watched just how much time and energy is spent in that process...there is no frickin' way I'm pullin' that off.
Beautiful build though. Kudos....
This canoe is a piece of art and great art takes time.
I built a small sailboat kit with my boss, over the winter, many years ago. My compliments on your creative clamping solutions.
To all who want to build a boat: Get more clamps, you don't have enough!
Can’t wait for the Viking longboat build. Kudos!
Amazing display of persistence, skill, and passion to build a work of art..awesome
This canoe is just beautiful. You do excellent work.
This is an impressive work! Congratulations Jimmy. Yours is a masterpiece.
Восхищаюсь терпением и трудолюбием!👍
Человек- творец!
The most enjoyable half hour I've spent for months. At 72 years old and being 100% combat disabled I'm limited in what I can do, but I must say your video has inspired me to finally start building the sailing dingy I've wanted to build for quite some time.Thank you for the inspiration and the great video. I am sure you will get hours of enjoyment from the most beautiful canoe I've ever seen. I am curious about one thing, what is the final weight of your canoe? Thanks Jimmy.
Thank you Mr.Erps.
Don't know about this one, but on the website of the Langford canoe brand, you may see several models with specs. Expect 60lbs for a 15' long wooden canoe. Traditionnal indian canoe with birch bark over wooden frame were lighter. Less than 30lbs. Enjoy your sailing on your dingy !
you should make it into a video
Bear Mountain Boats website says their Prospector Ranger 15' (which it is) is 45 to 55 lbs when completed.
Best of luck Mr. Erps
Has to be the best creation I ever seen, thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it
I admire your patience and hard work!
Man is the Creator! 👍
like from Yaroslavl Russia
Anyone else as impressed with the DIY steamer as much as
myself. I believe I'll be making one of those soon.
Anybody else spend 35 minutes watching a guy make a canoe?
Literally no regrets
Haha thank you 🙏🏼
How to explain my wife that instead bathing kids I spend 35min on YT with Jimmy 😏
@@jimmydiresta what is the name of that cloth you use on the inside and outside? Also is that just epoxy resin?
You see one guy build a boat, you seen them all.
@@Bobbysmitreshop He used West System 105 Resin with 207 Special Clear Hardener, which is great to get a natural wood finish without blush. Jamestown Distributors sells it along with their in house Total Boat brand, we have used them both and got great results. Mr Diresta also used TotalBoat Gleam varnish. The cloth appears to be fiberglass cloth, not sure which weight. Some folks use different cloths like kevlar for the bottom, all kinds of fun new materials out there, carbon fiber as well.
The music in the background, sped up for a Chipmunk sound, added great character to this video. Loved it.
Funny, I was wishing the entire time that he'd put anything over it. I had to mute it and listen to something else because it got so grating. Great video though, I'd love to be able to do something like this someday
This was absolutely beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video. You have mad skillz, dude! Would love to be able to make one of these someday.
really nice job jimmy . real work of art there .
I have built 7 now from 12 to 20 ft. Nothing can replace them in the water. I have a 40 horse on the river freighter that almost flies.I love your strong back and jigs my friend. Very nice. No staples as well. Nice touch fella ! Need more clamps, LOL. I never have enough. Nice touch with the book matched decks for sure. I do love to hand cane my seats though. These look really comfy though. That is a stunning piece of work begging for the water my friend. Well done fella ! Excellent river canoe bud !
leather not cane,i think.
Yeah bud, it's a really nice canoe, my friend. Say fella, you build canoes buddy? Golly that sounds like a lot of fun pal. It's been great talking to you friend.
I've floated quite a few Montana rivers in 69 years. This build is the equal to anything I ever tried floatin a river in. Alot purdier too.
@@rogerdudra178 They really feel the water far better than anything else eh. It is a real beauty fella !
@@jam9297 legend right there

lol totally what im doing right now. A beer and some bacon chips.
34 minutes of hopes to see it float.
I'd easily watch long form, non high speed videos here. This could have been 5, 1 hour videos as far as I care.

Ha! Love the cameo of Hand Tool Rescue.... 11:56
LOL Me too!
Love it when that happens.
Thanks! It's great to watch a craftsman at work. I learned a lot. I wish I had access to all your nice tools. I have to confess I'm a little disappointed to not see it on the water.
We Turks love to watch construction work / bricklaying / concrete casting. We really watch to the end
. Yours is a completely different pleasure.!
I watched and its beautiful. Gorgeous. You cold hang it on the wall its such a beauty.
So good.

Amazing craftsmanship !! Your kids will love to go for the river with papa who makes it with his two hands! I think the best thing you can do under the Covid-19 outbreak is making something at home for family
you are a great professional in the construction of canoes!
Congratulations !!!
Excellent work!!!!
Veramente un gran bel lavoro.
COMPLIMENTI.
Yep!...what a beautiful canoe. I really admire a true craftsman.
Me too! I will be as soon!
This was so satisfying to watch! THANK YOU!!
Well, well, well, brilliantly done by a truly craftsman.
Never seen this done before.
Really enjoyed this video, great work.
Cheers
Jim
My mind is completely blown by the sheer amount of work that's gone into this project. I'm staggered. It's gorgeous. I can't even.
With all the glue and wait . . . He should have had four going at the same time.
What a wonderful product of human's hands, well done sir, it's beautiful.
Beautifully crafted canoe AND a beautifully crafted video! Thanks!
Step 1: Build a giant CNC...
In all seriousness though, yet another example of the incredible craftsmanship that has made "DiResta" a brand. Should be viewed by every kid in every shop class everywhere.
One note though: The plans left out one detail. The portage yoke should have a circular cutout in it. When positioned properly, that cutout goes on the back of your neck for one-man portage. A minor issue, no doubt, but I post this in the interest of maintaining tradition.
The best video on youtube...
Amazing work!!!that was really, really great work. A complete and beautiful workmanship,so nice canoe.
I have been watching you for years , I’m 27 and on the real still would be AWSOME to be like an apprentice and learn
Really enjoyed this build, I am inspired to build my own when I become a homeowner with land/space
Nice
I wish you all the best in that pursuit, igotsomespace.
Diresta: a name, a guarantee! From italy 👊🏼💪🏼
Just..............WOW ! That is beautiful !
I don't know why, but I think there is something very noble about this. Maybe because it is. Thumbs up if you agree.
Been listening to this while studying. The audio is like an old time arcade from a K-Hole. Somehow very enjoyable though.

Me encantei com suas habilidades, quanta habilidade e carinho no que faz, parabéns mesmo, você é um verdadeiro MESTRE na arte! Abraço aqui do Brasil 🇧🇷
I didn't know wooden canoes could go without rib structures reinforcing the hull! Interesting build.
Well, he has the inner struts now.
is that a wild 'hand tool rescue' i noticed in the background? a rare find.
Hope it’s had its shots, but probably feral.
You saw nothing...
@@HandToolRescue too funny brother
@@robjohnson1138 Jimmy seems like the kind of guy to have a feral CZcamsr around. Whole packs of them.
Lol
What a great shop . You’re one lucky guy. Thanks 🇨🇦👍

Fantastico Jimmy! Hai realizzato un'opera d'arte 👏👏👏
Have you ever spent a half hour of your time watching something, then wished you had that time back?? Well, that was not one of those times.
