The Best Key Organizers for 2019 | Orbitkey vs. Bellroy vs. Keybar (and More)

  • So you're looking for the best key organizer, huh? Well I put the most popular key organizer brands to the test in a head to head (to head) battle. Watch the video to hear the results, or check out the in-depth companion article over on The Modest Man:
    www.themodestman.com/best-key...
If you're on the hunt for the best key organizer, you're probably not happy with your current key situation. I feel your pain. Keys are one of the most important parts of your everyday carry (EDC), and the traditional setup - loose keys on a key ring - is less than ideal for several reasons:
Your keys poke into your leg, they cause excessive wear on your pockets, they they create an ugly bulge, they shift around as you walk, etc. If this loose key situation annoys you, you're not alone. Since guys don't typically carry bags, we keep our stuff in our pockets.
And if the stuff in our pockets is causing discomfort throughout the day, it can be super annoying (even if it's just mild discomfort). The solution, of course, is to use a key organizer to “tame” your key situation and make them easier to carry around all day.
Now, there are many different key organizers available for purchase online, and it's almost impossible to find a video that actually tested the most popular ones. So I got my hands on the best key organizers from brands like Orbitkey, Keybar and Bellroy, and I tested each of them for at least two weeks.
They're actually all really solid products, and I'm sure one (or more) will be perfect for your situation and aesthetic. Enjoy the video, and feel free to ask any questions in the comments section.
Note: this video isn't sponsored. Some products were provided, free of charge, for the sake of review. Opinions are 100% my own.

I just wanted to say how much I appreciate someone who acknowledges their favourites in a review but gives all of the products being compared a fair review of pros, cons, and why you preferred the ones that are your favourite.
My sister got an Orbitkey a couple of months ago along with some of their after-market extras, and my dad was so impressed with it that he's recently bought one as well, and now my mum is looking at getting one.
I was originally leaning towards a KeySmart myself, but now having heard from someone who's tried them more, I'm going to weigh up the different pros and cons of each one for a bit longer before I make my decision.

For those wondering, Keysmart offers the Keysmart Rugged. It’s a thicker Aluminum (also offered in Titanium, I have that one) and it comes with the pocket clip, a D ring for fobs, longer screws for more keys and the same bottle opener showed here. It’s ~$40 and Titanium is $50 but worth it, I think.

is the Bellroy you have black or navy blue? can't seem to tell in the video. I am having a tough time deciding between the bellroy and the orbit. i like the multi tool functionality of the Orbit, and the aesthetics, but the bellroy completely covers your keys, so it won't scratch my phone when i put it in my pocket. which one is more comfortable in your pocket?

I got a leather Orbitkey. When I bought it, it was the first key organizer I had ever seen, and I thought it was awesome! After seeing all the different types of key organizers there are in this video, I'm happy I found the orbitkey first because it's definitely my favorite out of them. It's soft, so if comfortable to have in my pocket, and I think the minimalist look of it is very nice.

I’ve had the privilege to use Orbitkey and Campbell Cole since we only have these two brands in Malaysia and I can assure you that the quality is beyond excellent. For my day-to-day 9 to 5, I would resort to Orbitkey since it’s small and compact which fits nicely in my bag, front pocket or tiny motorcycle compartment. The Campbell Cole keywrap looks more elegant no doubt and I save those for the weekends where I have to travel to several locations and occasionally return home to grab some supplies. It can easily fit more keys but is on the larger side when compared to Orbitkey.

I have had the keyport slide 6 key version for years and I love it. I cannot imagine using anything bulkier. The setup takes longer since you have to have custom keys cut or a fob slide made but it is worth it. Making a key is fast and cheap and the size decrease is definitely worth it for me. Although i did have to work-around to get my office key made since it was stamped "do not duplicate" I got mine before the flashlight option was available so I may have to buy a new one after six years of use to get the new functionality. I don't understand how you thought the Campbell Cole Keywrap was the best looking. I guess different people like different designs.

I would suggest getting the "extras" such as the tile or flashlight as external addons. this way if the tile or flashlight dies or breaks you only have to replace that one part and not the whole thing.
plus you have more choice on what kind of flashlight or tile you want.

Keep in mind that different countries might have different prefered key types and sizes. Many key organizers from USA are said to be not so great for the thicker keys used in Germany for example. Might be a good idea to look for manufacturers from your own country...

Good roundup! I've seen positive reviews on the Jibbon key organiser. Have you heard of them Brock? I've had the Orbit for a while but I'm looking to give Jibbon a go. No tools to assemble and no metal parts on top. Leather seems good quality too.

Orbitkey is amazing to use every day, only problem is that interior of orbitkey, should not be pale leather- it discolours badly

Could you write something to sum up your experience? I love how they look and am considering one vs the Orbitkey but unable to decide :(

Were there problems pairing your keysmart pro? I recently bought one and can't get it to pair with my phone.

The Bellroy key cover looks good. Do you think it could fit three regular keys and a tile? if not how about two keys a tile?

Where I live (The Netherlands) we sometimes use house keys that somewhat resemble a Philips head screwdriver (rounded key). I'm unsure if you have these elsewhere or what they are known as. Would these products fit this type of key? Nice video!

I have one fob, and one house key.
I don't think I need as key organizer but I do think a couple accessories and a good way to organize and carry them would be a good idea. Knife, multitool, olight etc. I don't know what would work best

You should've added the Thorkey by Northwall into this but great comparisons!

My house key is very long, almost 10cm, its one of those that you have to insert horizontally.. I was wondering if it could work with any of these organizers? + I have 9 keys total

Hello. I have a question on the Keysmart Max, wishing you could shed light on. My concern is how slim it could possibly be. The answer of this question is hard to find on the internet because most people are concerned with how many keys it can possibly holds. So do you have any idea how thick the Keysmart Max is if there is no key and disc and screw driver in it, so that I can estimate that myself? Thank you very much!
