Donald Dean Humbug 1929-2002 Clear Lake Iowa designed the Duck Boat. He worked with the Missouri Department of conservation to put together a boat that could be used in shallow waters. The Kara Hummer is a improved version of the Humbug boat. The way you use the boat is to stand and use a push pole. To hunt you pull it up on the bank and lay down in the boat. Hides very very well in short grass and reeds. Pull two to four boats out on the bank side by side. You can stay warm and drink coffee if things are slow. With the boat so close together you can whisper to your buddies if they miss.
I built one of the hummers about 15 years ago. The only thing that I can complain about is that I built it WAY WAY to heavy! I'm thinking about building another and would likely built it out of as much foam and fiberglass as possible to keep the weight down. I could throw a 7ft cast net out of mine or haul 6 dozen decoys and a big dog to just about anywhere. I recommend that a drain plug be added on both sides.
Almost finished building the boat , Ray. I think I used a mixture of your plans and this video, and while it’s not perfect, I’ll be very glad to have it versus standing in the marsh

Very informative video. I have plans on the way. I look forward to building it this winter. Probably won’t make it this duck season
