The Fiesta, is quite nice but I have no first hand experience. However, I have owned the Swift since 2018 and had a Suzuki Ignis Sport before that (2007-2018). My Swift is used for everything from work and shopping to around five track days every year. They are relatively simple cars that are rugged, reliable, versatile and fun to drive. Suzuki, cars have given me a lot of fun over the years with minimal aggravation.

The Swift only really comes alive on really tight and very twisty roads. But then it is loads of fun. You need to use the high revs from 4000 rpm, where the VVTI kicks in, up to the 7000 rpm redline. The HP peak is at 6900 rpm! It's gearbox is better, if you shift it more quickly. Be careful with the clutch though. It really hates high rev starts. The steering may not have that much road feedback, but it is very precise. If you drive the Swift sporty, it delivers. If you don't, then it's a dependable, a bit dull commuter.
It's only sporty and fun, if you ask it to be. But then it's extremely fun!

I do not se the complaints about the engine needing high revs as valid. Had this and currently the next gen 1.4 This one is more fun but the 1.4 is faster.

That model Fiesta had hydraulic power steering, hence the feedback and engagement. Virtually everthing now uses electric steering with little, to no feedback. Only appropriate weighting, which is not the same. Explains why so many cars fail to offer driver satisfaction - if you're a bit old school (over 45).
Buyers now want SUV's full of pointless tech.
The connected driving experience has now been lost forever.

I've got a SSS and it's a Labrador at low revs, but turns into a Bull Terrier when you spank it. Put the Swift in the right hands on the twisty stuff and the Fiesta will roll itself into a hedge trying to keep up, even with Ford's physics-defying chassis. I've got a Ford Tourneo Custom Sport which I love so I'm certainly not anti-Ford. Worth pointing out as well that the Ford was over £1500 more expensive than the 3 door Swift from new.
To anyone with a MKII SSS, I'd thoroughly recommend paying the £300 for a Stage 1 Performance Remap plus a K&N Panel Filter. DON'T be tempted to take the airbox out and put one of those stupid cone filters in. It looks cool but just sucks in hot air from the engine bay, which has less oxygen in it. The Remap increases the bhp to 150 and turns the Swift into the Hot Hatch it deserves to be. The power now cuts in at 2500 rpm rather than 4000 and the thing revs like a two-stroke. Amazingly, it also improves fuel efficiency. Only drawback is you might need to change insurance company's as not all of them cover modified cars. No significant increase in the price though 👍

    I've driven/owned both.
To start, I had a ZC31 non sport (1.3) and not the ZC32 but I have also driven a 31 sport.
Looking at the footage of the 32 sport, it has had a huge step up on the 31 sport. Looks a lot more premium than the 31. The 31 looked and felt so cheap and tacky and the driving position was horrid.
Between the 2, I would actually go for the Ford (which is surprising as I'm a Jap fan) as overall, the Ford feels more premium, it feels more together as a car and you can feel what the car is doing a lot more. I love a heavy clutch, heavy accelerator, heavy brakes and a harder gearbox as I feel more connected to the car. In the Swift (both the 31 and 31s), they just didn't have any feel to them. Gearboxes were sloppy, accelerator was like that of a driving arcade in the amusements and the brakes although good, just didn't fill me with confidence. And the clutch, well, the Swifts felt like they didn't have a clutch. Just felt like a dormant peddle (and both swifts had brand new clutches in as they both had engine replacements at the same time)
But yea, overall, the Ford just feels better in every way shape and form. But I wouldn't mind testing a 32S to see if it is as big of a step up over the 31S as it seemed.

People's tastes differ. Reading at other comments, people that prefers the Swift instead of the Fiesta instead made Fiesta's racer looks it's negative part, while Swift is said to be more matured while also still looking different.
Personally I prefer the Swift because it seems a little bit more reserved up front than the Fiesta but has some business in the back. Dare I say in contrast to your comment and the Fiesta, I think the Swift looks more proportionate and pretty in it's subtlety (Fiesta is a bit "loud" in looks, and the rear for some reason is giving me a sort of feeling that made it look like the car is imbalanced) so I sort of have the same opinion as a few others. Plus, pretty reliable. I dont exactly have direct experience with the Swift Sport, but I've driven and be driven in many different Suzuki's before - all very long lasting and fine cars with not much to ask of the owners in return. Fiesta is also reliable but not on the same level. The Swift would also be more "spirited" in fun driving since it's best performance shows up between 5k to 7k RPM, encouraging you to step on it rather than going low.

100% the swift, much more of a grown up car compared to the boy racer fiesta

This guy drive like my gran and shes dead. I have a swift and on a tight b road warmed up its loads of fun. Its a vvt engine and comes alive over 5000rpm and was made for british country roads.

Imagine thinking a 1.6 NA engine is going to pull hard in 3rd gear at 30mph lol... Like all NA hot hatches, they are engineered to be revved to the moon.

I am suprised some people choose the swift, the old swift looks classy, but this with its big ass ugly headlights, looks goofy for more money, i dont get it.

Yup, Swift. The Fiesta is too much a child of the naughties, interior-wise. Outdated now, like a Nokia 3310.

the Fiesta is disposable, which makes more sense as a second car. You wouldn't treat the Swift like you'd treat the Fiesta, which is why the Fiesta would be the driver's choice :)

honestly... the fiesta may have a less fancy or premium interior but if we talk about the chassis then sorry guys but the swift is a pile of shit😂 if u want handling and fun choose the fiests.

    • @PlatinumNath
      @PlatinumNath Před 3 měsíci +1

Well I mean... Both cars have gone into rallying as a works car by both manufacturers. Both have great chassis for handling from both sides that have used them for fun and sporting so not sure what you're talking about. It's just that the Fiesta has more grunt on the low end range while the Swift comes alive at the high end of the rev range.

@@milnat596 I've ridden in both before too (well, kinda for the Fiesta... I've ridden in a Fiesta ST, not S1600), too just saying as opinion - I think both cars are equally good (if it's S1600 instead of my experience in ST - Swift Sport got no chance against ST) with different characteristics.
