Reorganizing My Bookshelves (again) - Goodbye Rainbow Shelves

- Even though I loved the look of my Rainbow shelves that I did in January, they weren't as functional as I was hoping so I decided to switch it up and reorganize my shelves again. This time I did a genre based system and sub-organized alphabetically by author last name. I loved how they turned out!

I organise my bookshelf by language, seperating Dutch from English and then seperating translated books by the language they’re translated from. Within that it’s by other categories that mostly just make sense to me
I love how it turned out! It looks more functional 😍
Thanks! Definitely more functional :)
This is sooooo me. I tried rainbow shelves, realized I only had about 4 books that weren't black & started sorting my genre instead. I still tend to reorganize after about every 10-15 books read. This turned out great! =)
You were so diplomatic about not liking the rainbow shelves lolz ☺️ I love watching reorganizing videos!
I just watched your other video where you were reorganizing into the rainbow shelves and I literally went looking for an update. LOL.. While I think Rainbow shelves are quite eye-catching, I just don't think they are all that practical... especially for someone with a large library of books. It is quite natural to remember the authors name and even what genre the book would be in... but to remember the color of the book jacket seems a bit much...especially if you have multiple editions of a book and each with differing color sleeves.
I think that just depends on the person. I, for example, have NO clue what the names of authors are (If it isn't one of my favourite books of all time), but I can always remember how a book looks. Even if I can't remember the book's title. So a rainbow shelf is actually really practical for me, and the way my brains recognises and remembers things.
This is also how I arrange my books. I love that I know where everything is.
It's a great system! And I agree - I love knowing where everything is too!
This is one of my favorite organization videos! I like being able to see the whole process, I love the fact that you seperated genres, and I ADORE that you organized them alphabetically because almost never see that in booktubers. Aesthetically it looks nice to have rainbow shelves, and of course it is completely up to the owners, but I would much rather see alphabetical than rainbow. I grew up alphabetizing my books anyways. But thank you, it looks awesome!
Glad you liked it!!
Love it...almost as much as your dog's "why are you doing this again" reaction. 😊
Love it. I think it looks better than rainbow. More functional.
Thanks! I love it too! Much more functional!
Reorganization videos are some of my favourite! Your shelves are beautiful! New subscriber! 🤗
I like watching them too! Thanks so much! :)
I love your room aesthetic so much
loved this organisation!
Looks terrific. That's how I arrange my books. Fun to watch someone else organize their shelves.🤣❤️👍 It's a lot of work.
Thanks! I really like how organized it is. I feel like I have a bookstore in my house 😂😂
@@LittleInklings There is no better feeling than just picking out a book from your own shelves.
I just did a reorganize video! I organize my books by age, genre, and then in alphabetical order. I am not of fan of the rainbow look, I think because I don't have enough books for it to look good.
i also organize my books by the last name of the auther and genre, since im already used to that system when i want to buy certain books. But i also like to have a few books in my shelf, in the order of what im planning to read next
I don’t have enough books to organise them properly just yet, think 1 of the wide ones and then only half the height lol, and then only 2 of the 3 shelves are books the bottom is some of my baby’s toys, we are getting a new system soon and we will definitely buy loads more books with being subscribed to book box now and just buying more books. A good permanent system, have been looking at your book case setup before I saw your setup) will have to wait until we’ve moved in the new year...
Very nice! Could you do an updated plant tour soon?? 😊💚 🌱
Hi, I'm new to your channel.
I love to organize my bookshelf by author and genre and tend to put my all time favorites in the shelf in the middle at eye level. (My special shelf).
Love this look! You still have splashes of colour, but it must be so satisfying to have control over the location of books but alpha order. I’ve always done mine this way.
Looks so much better!!
I love all your plants!! 🌱 And these shelves. Maybe I can just ask for ikea gift cards for Christmas haha
Thanks! An Ikea gift card is such a great idea - I feel like I'd be able to spend it so fast 😂😂
I love how your shelves turned out!! It's inspired me to rearrange my own books.
Thank you! I love them too! How are you going to rearrange your books?
@@LittleInklings I think I'll do mine by chronological? Like books I read during high school, college, and now. And then I'll probably subdivide by genre, because I love how that turned out with your shelves!
This is much better!! I also do by genre then alphabetical by last name within the genre.
1) Love the face outs!
2) Red, White, and Royal Blue is an adult romance, not YA 🙂
Thanks! I actually realized it was mis-shelved after filming. It's been moved :)
This is really similar to how I organize my books, except I use more broad genre categories. I have separate shelves for poetry, fiction, and non fiction.
Love it
I separate my ya books from adult and classics and then I go by color on each individual shelf
I just did my books in rainbow and I'm already thinking about changing it again (I have a problem lol)
Haha I have the same problem :)
I organise my bookshelf by favourites (so my top shelf is Sarah j Maas) then it goes down to books I love to books I like but don’t love to books I dislike and I’m waiting to unhaul them. Within that it’s whatever books look good together and make the shelf look aesthetically pleasing.
Hey!
I saw you have the spine art version of the Dark Artifices. Could you tell me where you find it/where you bought it? I absolutely love the books and the cover looks amazing!
(Your bookshelves turned out really well, also I’m a new subscriber😉)
Hi! I got it off of Book Outlet :) I believe I got it on sale - only a few dollars!
And thank you!
WHY DON'T YOU HAVE WAR STORM BY VICTORIA AVEYARD
Lol because I’ve only read the first book in the series so far and didn’t want to buy it until I was sure I was going to finish it 🙈🙈
This is actually my dream bookshelf setup. By the way how many books do you have?
So glad you like it!! I'm not sure how many books I have - I don't think I ever counted. Probably somewhere between 400-500?
Little Inklings thanks :) just wandering how many books I’d need with a similar set up one day x
