The first game I ever got was Mario Galaxy 2, followed by the original. My whole life I’ve struggled with explaining how I felt. But for about 2 hours a day, I’d sit down in front of my Wii, and the beautiful atmosphere and story of these 2 games would help me connect with myself more than anything else could. This wonderful game has created memories that will last a lifetime.

long jump in galaxy is insane for how l o n g you fly with the gravity around the planets. mario literally makes a gravity turn and goes into orbit
there is also a secret move i didn't know about until beating the game, which is to spin and ground pound at the same time, which give you a tiny homing effect with a little animation and sound

i play video games every single day and I play every single genera under the sun. "what is your favorite video game" is such a massive question and hard for many to answer. to me its easy its Super Mario Galaxy... without a single doubt in my mind. From the crazy trippy worlds to the PERFECT live band music to the sad open nostalgic vibe its literally a perfect game

Watched the entire thing from beginning to end. Probably my favorite Mario game ever (Galaxy 2 is right there with it.). Can’t believe it’s been 16 years, but it’s aged BEAUTIFULLY. Can’t wait for the Galaxy 2 run!
I remember when I got all the stars for the first time. It took me 8 months I believe because I used to suck.
I remember playing Super Mario Galaxy when I was young and ever since it came to the switch I'm absolutely glad I got the chance to take it with me anywhere I go, of course I got it digitally before it got removed but you can still buy it physically at least.

Mario can dive into the water, did you know that? If you get to the edge of a cliff over a large body of water, when you're close enough to the edge Mario will start looking directly down into the water. Press A and he'll literally perform an Olympic dive into the water! How cool is that?
Sup Mr Choc. To answer your question, taking fire damage is used a ton in any% speed runs in the game. The most notable would be in freezflame galaxy second star where you skip the whole level basically by taking damage to the lava. Definitely look it up, it’s worth a watch.
I finally 200% this on 3D Allstars! If they ever release Galaxy 2, I will NOT complete it (looking at you “the perfect run”)

I will forever be grateful to this single game for it is the sole reason I play video games at all today. The impression this game left on me as a 6 year old was so impactful that even now as a near 20 year old i still get awestruck at the visuals and i will admit a little emotional at the ending. I will always be thankful that Nintendo made it and my family bought it for me
If I’m completely honest, I think that Sunshine exemplifies my childhood, and Galaxy (and Galaxy 2 to a greater extent) made me actually fall in love with Mario. I love Sunshine and I love it more as I get older. I love how all of the levels are connected, I love the summer vibe, I remember the game very fondly. But Galaxy is so damn good. The scale, the fun, the power ups, the controls, and the music is peak. It was the first Wii game me and my friend saved money to get, and it made playing the game so much better. I genuinely miss Galaxy, and while I love Odyssey, I am a bit more partial to Galaxy.

Nowadays, a bunch of memories about my games just blend together, but if I had to pick a couple that I know stand out to me, it was definitely both Super Mario Galaxy titles, Wii Sports + Resort, and Wii Fit for some those fun activities. Kirby's Return to Dreamland was a huge W for me and I'm pretty sure that was my introduction to Kirby. It made me cry when I found out a remaster get announced. COD MW3 & Black Ops II activated my First Person Shooter track that lasted until this very day. The first Forza Horizon was a good pick because it was different from other Racing titles I played at the time, and it fueled my passion to become a car person, which definitely worked out. 2012 was a good year for video games, despite all the downfalls... *Cough* *Cough* Need for Burnout licenced cars edition. Lastly, some of my very first games that I remember playing was the Wii port for Super Mario Bros. and my father taught me everything I knew, and I was speedrunning that game from the age of 7. There was a car game I played on my dad's beast of a computer that I don't quite remember, but judging by the lit barriers during races, it was either NFS Underground 2, or an older Burnout game. Lastly, there was a few older games I played on my Grandma's Dell desktop, mainly through Yahoo! Games. Y'all remember that? I had stuff like Pizza Panic and an old Garden Warfare type game, but it wasn't PvZ. It took place in like a greenhouse rather than the backyard and rooftop. Another greenthumb title I used to play was Alice Greenfingers, both 1 & 2. They were my favorite amongst the crowd of PC titles. Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 were my favorite games growing up however as a child I couldn’t 100% either games so when I saw 3D all stars coming out, I was so excited
I remember the bouldergeist giving me and my mom a hard time way back then. We played this game together ALL the time!
something Choc said reminded me of several books where they said that being in zero-G feels like constantly falling, until you get used to it.
oh, i just remembered: in Yoshi's Island, there's a Boss Koopa, that sometimes crawls, and sometime walks, and will try to belly-flop on you.
if you jump on his back when he's crawling, he will just spit out eggs.
you need to hit him in the head with eggs while he's standing up, to knock him onto his back, then Ground-Pound his belly.
BUT, he will then bounce ALL over the screen, SUPER FAST!
he's not hard to beat, but that wild bouncing makes it almost impossible to get a 100% score.
35:15 oh, that reminds me of "Belome" in Super Mario RPG, who comments on the taste of your characters during the second time you battle him.
if i remember, when he tastes Mario, he says, "ack, sour!"
also, Peach makes him say "mmm, peachy", and Bowser makes him say "yuck! how repulsive", and Geno makes him say "bitter, but not bad."

9:39 After collecting all of the green stars, you unlock another version of this galaxy. This time it has actual loopdeeloops, and is called Loopdeeswoop Galaxy. Someone on the development team was definitely fired after that one lol.
I was a fan of splatoon and I remember playing it at my grandmas. I picked up the ink brush, and sure I wasn’t the best but it was fun even if I lost. The first one I played was the first one, and I’m still in love with it! Splatoon 3 is so fun and chaotic that it always keeps me entertained if I have internet. But if I don’t, I play the other best games: Mario kart and Pikmin, as well as Pokémon.
