I use to play this on the Wii U and start every level by waiting a minute to listen to the music. he skipped Returns, but David Wise came back for this one and it shows.

The theme that plays on the surface areas before Irate Eight and Current Capers is SO good, but is never really heard by most players cause it's only used in those small sections

When i was like 11 my friend would sometimes get dropped off to school by my parents, so before we would go to school we'd always play tropical freeze. I have the fondest memories of this game especially the multiplayer cuz playing this game with a friend always makes it better and its something im glad i did since i don't really get to see her much anymore

Irate Eight…Hard Mode. That level still gives me nightmares
I screamed at that level for like 4 hours. And I was using funky(which might have actually been harder, but I was too stubborn)
Crying is an UNDERSTATEMENT if you’ve played and BEATEN that level 🥲

For me, it was the 2nd boss that was a pain, this one only took like three tries with Dixie

I even completed Tropical Freeze 200 % years ago, and I did it twice. That is I played the game normally and collected everything and completed every course again in Hard Mode collecting the blue KONG Letters again, even though it wasn't necessary.

It doesn't matter what the game says, it isn't a 100% if you don't get everything (including the puzzle pieces)
It doesn't matter what they or you think here. By the game's definition 100% or 200% means just beating every level (and collecting all the KONG letters for the K-Levels). Puzzle pieces and everything else, such as doing additional exits, won't increase the percentage. Due to this, there are even two separate speedrun categories that either collect them all or just get 100% by the game's definition.
As someone who 100%’d the game years ago on the Wii U version, this was an insanely hard game but also a VERY satisfying achievement

By the way: the levels in world 6 are based on returns: 6-1 jungle, 6-2 beach, 6-3 ruins, 6-4 cave, 6-5 forest, 6-6 cliff, 6-7 factory, 6-8 volcano.

I kind of feel a little bad now for asking Choc a couple times to keep going to this game. I know how hard it is to organise a time with a friends multiple times to hang out together and it's gone right but I'm glad they played and had fun with this

I'm very impressed how quickly they pulled off Bopopolis. That is universally known as one of the hardest levels, and many think it's the hardest. There's a few bounces you have to do differently than the others and you can't explain it. When get to them you just know it. I've never played it two player so that might make it easier, but personally I'd assume it would be harder that way. On a side note, I love that level and when I play the game I go to that level to farm balloon lives.
Bopopolis is one of the easier K-Levels IMO. All you need to know for that level is that you'll always get a high bounce if you hold the jump button and that the game pretty much autopilots you into each enemy. 5-K and even 3-K were nightmares in comparison.

Speaking of this franchise, I only just recently saw that the first 3 Country games were on the Switch’s snes emulator. I’m excited to revisit Diddy’s Kong Quest cuz that one was by far my favorite.

I really like this game because I wanted to get more in touch with my dad, so we played games with each other more often. And the first game was tropical freeze.

I remember Nintendo posting a video about this game years ago where it was two employees playing their favourite levels. For context it was two people, a guy and a woman. The guy picks a one level and blazes through it in his first attempt. Was impressive because it wasn't exactly an easy looking level (I believe it was in the savannah world). The woman on the other hand picks her favourite level and repeatedly dies. The editor then cuts to black with something along the lines of "40 attempts later" on the screen where they then show the woman's one attempt where she beats the level. I don't remember if it was ever acknowledged why she liked that particular level if it took her many attempts to beat it.

The way that I play every donkey Kong country game that I have at least played so the Wii and tropical freeze, is farm up to 100 lives on the first couple of levels, and intentionally die anytime I miss any kind of collectible such as the letters
I love this game so much just 100% last week, i've done 100% many times and this is my favourite 2d platformer
