    GTN's very own former pro triathlete Mark Threlfall caught up with 2 time Olympic champion Alistair Brownlee at the Challenge Family The Championship race in Slovakia. This year he has stepped up to race over a longer distance and discusses with Mark the impact this has had on his training and racing.
    Alistair shares his insights into racing over middle distance compared to the ITU short course race format. He shares his changes in training routine, the difference in nutrition strategy and pacing come race day.
    Keep an eye on the channel later today for a detailed look at Alistair's Scott Plasma TT setup.

    Great video. Like two friends having a chat. Love the channel, wish it was around back when I started tri, and thought that running 150km per week was solid training!

    Okay … this is a bit of a rant. But, I want to make it clear from the start, it’s not directed at Global Triathlon Network, but at the rest of so-called U.K. sports media.
    Very recently, at the 2017 Penticon ITU Duathlon World Championships (Elite Women), Emma Pallent achieved a very credible 3rd placing.
    Also, recently, at the 2017 Ironman 70.3 (St. George), Alister Brownlee & Holly Lawrence both achieved 1st places.
    Was there any mention of these U.K. athlete’s successes by the ‘sports media’? Nope … not I saw.
    If you are an overpaid, under-achiever kicking a ball around a field, then you can guarantee mass coverage. (Oh, & if you are a triathlete, you don’t need to take a break after 45 minutes because your little legs are tired)!
    Now, my question is (& probably a very naïve one), is there some way that we U.K. triathletes can work together to make sure our British triathletes (at whatever level they compete at) get the media coverage they so richly deserve?
    Is this just a U.K. phenomenon or do the rest of the Global Triathlon Network’s followers experience the same in their countries?
    Btw, well done GTN for producing your long over-due Channel & I look forward to seeing it grow from strength to strength.

    Complete beginner in triathlon here but is the benefit of a TT bike compared to a similar road bike with clip on bars ?

    • @chrisandrade5122
      @chrisandrade5122 Před 6 lety +1

      Colin Thompson some people can replicate the TT geometry, but most likely not. Aero gains are pretty similar, but hip angle on most road bikes with clip ons limit how long average riders can maintain that position.

    • @colinthompson3750
      @colinthompson3750 Před 6 lety +1

      Christian Andrade thanks looks like im going shopping

    • @leon19951209
      @leon19951209 Před 6 lety +3

      Since the tri-specific TT bikes do not need to comply with the UCI rules, they can be made more aero than most road bikes and some UCI-legal TT bikes. On the other hand, road bikes usually handle better than TT bikes, so for short distance where riders are more likely to ride in close proximity, road bikes might be a safer choice.

    • @ianolear1000
      @ianolear1000 Před 6 lety +4

      The geometry is different on each bike. On a tri bike the seat post is steeper, allowing the hips to come forward and prevent injuries due to overstretching, which can happen when you put a set of clip on bars to your road bike
