- 00:00 Haiti, the poorest country in the Caribbean, relies on dirt tracks for transportation of goods and people across the country.
02:55 Once called the pearl of the Antilles, Haiti struggles to survive.
14:41 Employment opportunities are scarce for all ages.
18:40 Haiti is home to many religions and dangerous situations.
27:48 Salt workers, mostly women, face an exhausting workload.
29:25 Steep paths and corrupt politicians are among the challenges faced in Haiti.
36:23 Miners continue to search for gold nuggets in the country.
44:55 Bad weather further complicates the already difficult journey for many in Haiti.
Five years after the earthquake struck Port-au-Prince and the surrounding area, the consequences of the disaster can still be felt. To cross the country, dirt roads are the only means of conveying goods and people. It often takes more than ten hours to cover the 80 kilometers that separate Gonaives from Mole Saint Nicolas in the north east of the country. Only one bus provides the link despite constant punctures and the accidents that litter the route. Those who risk taking to the roads in Haiti often invoke Voodoo spirits to accompany them on their journey along the infernal roads running alongside beaches from Eden beside a crystal blue sea.
I absolutely LOVE the narrator of all these "dangerous roads" episodes. He makes it so relatable. Thank you, sir! I am also in awe of these locals who survive under such conditions. How much we take for granted!
I agree! I wish I knew his name
I visited this beautiful country back in 1985 and it has left a warm spot in my heart for the wonderful people!
Respect to all these struggling people and thanks to the video makers.
I feel nothing but respect and admiration for these hardworking people. I have very dear friends from there. ❤️ 🇭🇹
One of the finest series on CZcams 👍
to the producer of this program i wanted to express thanks for the translator rather then having to read the captions
i have given you a thumbs up and subscribe to this channel
As always, wonderful! Entries in this series are invariably compassionate, respectful, and illuminating. Thanks for the upload.
I like how the narrator matches the mood of who he is translating. I wish more did this
The narrator is brilliant.
This guy is awesome! He’s the main reason I watch this series.

I find it hard to believe that there isn't a bulldozer anywhere to be found on that entire island with an operator willing to grade the roads to improve the country's standard of living.
That's what I mean, the complain about the government doing nothing while waiting for someone else to do it. People can't get together to fix the roads ?
@@bugzbunny69 it is the same as assuming if they can't feed their kids why make them in the first place? I mean this is not a situation they suddenly face but know well for many years. Reaching out your hand demanding freebies is easy. Doing yourself something requires a little bit more. And that is mostly the main problem.
I knew a business man in upstate NY 1994(?) who owned a quarry on Haiti. Seems that during an uprising/revolt his equipment was push over cliffs into the sea.
They lack the brain cells, Haiti is a perfect example of a failed state, its been free for two centuries but doesn't know how to govern iteself
Easier to complain than get your ass in gear.
You’re SUPPOSED to scrape the tube so the patch makes purchase when repairing a flat. His method of heating is what is actually impressive.
The Narrator brought me here🔥🔥🔥
The narrator brought me here wonderful contents beautiful scenery amazing video 🇯🇲❤👍🏿
The narrator when he speaks over the people is awesome...really let's you know what's going on.
Haiti dared to beat the mightiest imperialist army of the time which is Napoleon Bonaparte> The first time in history black nation became free trough war in 1804. Haiti has been paying for that ever since. But what has been done can be done again. Haitians are so resilient!
The only redeeming thing about Haiti is it's Catholicism, but to say they defeated France is an understatement. It was tied down with a continental war and cash strapped, the expedition force sent to retake Haiti was a poultry amount. They did not fight the greatest or best of Europeans military at that time. And what did they do after France left it alone? They murdered every single white including those that were fine with freeing them and in the early 20th century to give the America's AIDS. Honestly the whole place needs to be liberated back to Africa and give the whole island to The D.R.
It’s almost as if they were better off as property
Did independence dance do any good to Haiti They don't even have all weather motorable roads Pepple without jobs in factories As there us no manufacturing People risk their life to survive. What independence ?poorest island?
When I watch this documentary all I do is woder and know how blessed I am ,God remember the people of Haiti
It‘s extremely well filmed 👌🏼👌🏼
Your does a outstanding job. Thanks
That dt444 7.3 engine is working hard
I felt like i was on the truck with them this was stressful 😂
45:50 that soup kinda looks exactly the same as the mud water they were sifting the gold flake in😳
I always love this narrator
My home country ❤️ 🇭🇹
I don’t like your country but I love the peoples
This man has been making charcoal for 40 years in the desert.. I think we complain a little bit too much sometimes.
The sad part is that where he was chopping trees used to be a luscious rain forest a while ago
@@tripleq7888 I think I know what happened to the forest
It’s hard to watch such horrible lifestyles and conditions. A real eye opener. It’s make me grateful for what I was blessed with and ashamed that not everyone else has the same opportunities.
That "mechanic" in red t-shirt aren't much of a mechanic... Loose battery terminals, simple things as that he can't even fix permanently... What a shame, shouldn't be call "lead mechanic"🤢
that's why the Haiti is the train wreck that it is.
Great❤👍
In miami those mini buses are called jitney 🙃
thank u
i like this narrator
Super
May GOD bless my people from Haiti. If you look up the word, strength in dictionary, you would see Haitian People! PEACE 7
As a Dominican and watching this documentary over Haiti conditions really make feel bad for the brothers Haitians, but I also understand the Dominicans challenge protecting our forest, in DR is ilegal to cut any tree and cooking with charcoal is very limited.
I lv the narrator
muito bom
Book Award
These most dangerous roads documentaries are great. I've been to Haiti many times and never seen anyone using euros as the narrator mentions dozens of times 😆
In my experience people there want US dollars or gourdes.
It's prolly because it's film by european production for europeans to understand currency. When he says 15 euro's for that buss ride.... I don't know if he does the conversion, but holy sheet... That's expensive, at least from what I remember from the 90s at least.
Why is this video uploaded on these channel? are they related?

Funny how they don't complain about the cost of weave
Very brave people
The Voodoo guy . He puts a voodoo prayer on his immaculate white T shirt not getting a speck of dirt on it CONSIDERING he's transporting charcoal lol . See his T Shirt !!! Unbelievable unless he takes 5 on the journey
Why repost old videos???
Honestly, why does this country even exist just give asylum to all these poor people in some other country
The Dominican Republic doesn't want them. They are a mess.
Need front drive tracks.
It's hard life over there
Seems rather incongruous,
Everything else is falling apart......... but the bus driver always uses his seatbelt.
It's a good thing........ but seemed odd.

No the whites force the people come to America
@@mongolempire1277 ADOS ancestors was forced. Everyone black person with African ancestors wasn't forced to come here. Some African's came to America and wasn't forced, they moved here after slavery ended ....Dammm

7 children’s really?i would stop at number 5……45:24
i,dont understand why they need more children while they can't afford to eat for themselves.....i know some poor country and people think that more you have kid more man power you got to do the works, but why don't they realized that more people means more food and resource you need to survive...
Haiti will recover with time.
I wouldn’t be too confident
Judging by the state of the country
Why can't the narrator say "Haiti" right?
So all the body really needs is Pea Soup and Rice ,
what is pea?.....i see they ate that called pea,but don't know what it is

I wish to know the narrator's name
I think it's Mike Rowe.
Lol Mike Rowe has an American accent...this narrator does not. I do like Mike Rowe, though!
I'm searching everywhere for who this might be, but so far no luck. If I can track it down I'll come back and share!
Old documentary reuploaded
I love you
Remember when *Dave Chapelle* went offline from one hour to the next without saying anybody anything? Well now we know where he is :D watch him here at 1:32
Haiti has a really good history of fighting of slavery. Too bad they did not live up to being a succesful country.
People always complain. Well fix your country or something
Too bad this is a repost
Haiti the damn: 4:46
Another beautiful piece of French legacy 👍🥴
They had big forest in the past. They sold all the forest.
Honestly, after watching the Cameroun and Benin episodes, i think these buses are pretty damn nice! so it'd be nice to see those impatient complaining passengers like that lady to take a spin in a clando instead. now THAT'D be fun to watch!
(btw she complaining about no food on bus??! wtf where u living woman? are you straight in the head? not even in west europe you get food on bus!)
I don't think it's about the Food lol... more about the price. Funny, I was very scared being on those mini busses.
@@bugzbunny69 nah, she said "theres nothing to eat and drink". well shit, princess, even in Europe we KNOW food and drinks are your problem as passenger once you board the bus. i've never, honest to God, heard any bus company providing food or water to their passengers! so, no excuse bitching about it in Haiti.
i can believe you being scared thought, i imagine it's not the most pleasant experience. but at least no goats peeing on you! :P
@@bluemoondiadochi The time I was there, I lived in a little city, and never saw such things LOL. Almost all the video is new too me. Which is, I wish they show good parts too. Anyway, what I mean is, what she is complaining about is not really what she is upset about. If you get my drift.
8:59 if anything that lady needs less food intake
we are poor and can not feed ourselves, we could farm,(no) fish {no} or have lots of children, YAY
Those goats in the bike howling i feel pity😭

Beautiful views sad this country is jinxed because they worship vodoo
A bit too British for my likings
His voice , as a narrator is so scripted
If Obama had a son…..
$600 euros for a new tire?! I don’t understand how people can survive in countries where the price of goods by no means reflects the citizens income. In Canada I could buy an entire set of mid grade new tires for $450 Canadian dollars. That is roughly one weeks wages after taxes and deductions for a person making minimum wage. Living here on minimum wage in a single income household even for just one person is nearly impossible. I couldn’t imagine trying to live on 1-2 euros per day with prices as high as they are there for certain things. I’m so blessed to live in an amazing country like Canada. In my opinion the best country on earth. Many think it’s the US. I’ve lived there and I can tell you it’s not even close! Way to much gun violence and just violence in general. Not too mention way to much political bullshit. In Canada, the six o’clock news can cover everything that happened in politics in 2-3 minutes. It doesn’t need a channel like CNN that talks politics 20+ hours a day every single day. If you live in a country that requires 140 hours per week in political news coverage…your country has some serious fkn issues. If you live in a country of 440 MILLION people, and the best person you can think of to represent your country is Donald Dump…your country has ISSUES!😵💫🤯
Pssh, 600 euros for a truck tired, that needs to be imported, is SORTA understandable but I think the narrator is over exgerating. Unfortunately, he talks over the guy, so I couldn't figure out what he might have actually said. I suspect, more likely, he get's them used. A lot haitians would buy cheap stuff here in the US and sale them back in Haiti. O about the news, meh, check the viewership over how many people in country. LMAO...
