The land locked nation of Tajikistan is the poorest country in central Asia. The mountainous landscape is unforgiving and temperatures extreme. Here desperate truck drivers can wait for days to get assigned a load to transport across the treacherous terrain. Working in old and battered trucks on bone-shaking routes, dodging falling rocks and landslides, and being forced to wake up every two hours during the night to start their engines so they don’t freeze up and leave them stranded; these men are severely tested. They do it all for the love of their families who wait for weeks at a time, hoping that their husbands and fathers will return safe. A look at both sides of the lives of Tajik long distance drivers.

The landlocked nation of Tajikistan is the poorest country in Central Asia. The mountainous landscape is unforgiving, the temperatures extreme. Desperate truck drivers often wait for days for a job to transport cargo across the dangerous land.
Needless to say, the equipment is old, shoddy: trucks are old and hands on craftsmanship is essential. Macgyvering is a must. Forget about suspension, these trucks shake the drivers to the bone, while dodging falling rocks, watching out for potential landslides, and sleeping two hours at a time to make sure the engines don’t freeze.
What makes these silent superheroes do it? Families, loved ones who they want to provide for. All contribute: the families waiting weeks on end for their loved ones to return home safely to the kickass drivers braving unimaginable hardships to get the job done.

I lost interest in Hollywood super hero movies, This channel shows the real heroes living across the world serving mankind. I’ll still never understand why this isn’t on discovery channel. This is a million times better and more entertaining than ice road truckers. Plus you actually learn something about other countries and how people live.

There are umpteen amount of videos, more raw and real than this, but you have to find them in the net, althought there are no subs no dubs and not edits.

I live in Dushanbe now,but I grew up in the Pamirs. I will say one thing: Try to live in such conditions for at least a year, it is not difficult. ;-) My relatives still live in these conditions, and we see nothing but happiness in their eyes.

Did the Pamir Highway as a tourist in 2019, a very good experience. If anyone is thinking about it, I’d highly recommend it.

Then I want to mention about Pamir highway and the life in Pamir.
It's really hard to live in this condition, especially in Winter, it's really tough.
No matter what, people are enough educated, friendly, strong and patient.

Dear friend who made this documentary motivates to people to work hard in whatever profession they are.I am from North part of India and I had a great respect for the Tajik people who bear such hardship but still working hard and are happy.Good to see children in minus twenty studying and the drivers life in these areas are a daily challenge. God bless you all and hope govt make good roads and you people also settle near the cities.

These documentaries are great. I did not have to leave my home to see the world, it's all there right in front of me. Fantastic footage of dangerous journeys drivers have to endure and it makes me glad I wasn't in their shoes.
I’m from Uzbekistan but I’m Tajik. The Tajiks settled in Samarkand, Uzbekistan and then over centuries our language started to develop. We don’t have accents but the Tajiks from Tajikistan do. ❤️

Some of us are so lucky to be born in a developed country where we can provide good living for our families. Anyone of us could have been born in a 3rd world country and struggle our whole life just to survive. It all comes down to where you were born.

Are you kidding me?. I was bringing up my family for $7.75 an hour at the end of the 90's and early 2000's working at a gas station while I was going to flight school. I had a wife and 3 kids to bring up on my wage and i was paying for a loan, apartment, utilities, car payment and regular everyday things and yes it was hard, for almost 3 years i worked my butt off, but it doesn't come even close to the life people live in 3rd world countries where they bring up a family of 4 or 5 on $1 or $2 dollars a day. I worked in Botswana as a bush pilot for 2 years to build up flight hours before going to a major airline and i seen kids dying because they had no food. Every few days i would fly kids to the hospital because they were dying from starvation, some made it and some didn't. In the UK or US if you're struggling you can at least get some benefits or go to a food bank and they will give you food, while in 3rd world countries you have zero such options, if you don't get some money or food you simply die. In first world countries we have so many opportunities to choose from for your career while in 3rd world countries you don't have these choices because parents can't even afford school for their children, even with school there is hardly any opportunities, that is the reason people are literally drowning in oceans just to get to a 1st world country. Just tell me this how many kids have you ever heard of dying from starvation in a 1st world country?. Non, right because 1st world countries won't let a child die from starvation they have options. While thousands of children die every day in 3rd world countries from starvation. You have not seen struggling until you have lived in a 3rd world country. People from a 3rd world country would walk through fire just to live in London and make 11.50 an hour, for them that's a dream.

@@AviationNut I totally get what you saying, Central Asia may be 3rd world country for some people, but i can say for sure that people and especially children dont die from starvation in Central Asia, They know how to survive. BTW back in 2000 i was working for $6 an hour :)) and again gas was 0.80C a gallon vs now $3.70 a gallon.
