I agree on the 3D printer, I only bought mine less than a year ago - it's been great for me. Even if only to have reasons to do some 3D mechanical design. I used to do design work years ago, it's good to keep my modeling skills up.

Wow, thanks very much for sharing. What a great setup. With all the technology available to the electric guitarist these days, why not use it? I'm looking at designing a guitar to have a GK3 and a Ghost System, so this video gave me some great tips. The biggest one being, grab a bit of scrap wood and experiment/practice with the router before applying it to your guitar.

Holy crap man! That guitar reminds me of the Game I believe was called "Operation" as a kid where you took tweezers and picked out little pieces and if you hit the sides it would buzz meaning you failed. Now I need to look up what a Hexpander is?

That guitar is crazy! Is there a video about that? If not there should be. Also why can't you buy router bits in Germany? Is it not something sold in normal hardware/tool shops?
Yes, there's a detailed video on it somewhere in Guitar Reviews playlist. Even the biggest hardware stores in Germany offer only 3-4 basic shapes and those will be overpriced AF. Need anything fancier - ebay is your friend :)

I don't care about synth, but I would like a way to have my computer transcribe what I play on my guitar for me, and something to convert the notes to MIDI is necessary to do that. Question is, with Roland, vs. Fishman, vs. Graphtech hardware, vs. JamOrigin MidiGuitar software, what's the best option for transcription, NOT synth? One issue with all of the hardware is it's all designed for a max of six strings, but I play 8 string.
Good question! I still need to try Fishman stuff. Graph Tech can work with 7 strings internally but I'm not sure how it is transmitted. One solution I can think of is using two 4-string pickups by either Roland or Graph Tech. But that will require everything in double, which gets way too expensive
@@MaxSoloMusic When I messaged GraphTech a while back they said everything was limited to 6 strings due to Roland's standard. So yes, it would have to be doubled up, including two output jacks, which is just awkward. I also just poked around on the Jam Origin forum and it sounds like even they have a 6-string standard tuning limitation at the moment. (That is, a 6-string tuned down to C won't work, and neither will a standard 7- or 8-string.) It's unclear whether the next release (3.0) will address that. I'm also wondering what in the world is going on with the MIDI 2.0 spec I heard a lot of hype about a couple years ago. Since then it's been crickets.

I follow your channel as much as possible, and greatly respect the level of detail you cover. However, it seems like you have become confused by the technology. Don’t worry. You are not alone. Many people make this mistake.. Starting with this very important clarification. THIS IS NOT MIDI.
Starting with the your representation of the Graph Tech ghost, it is a 13 pin kit. Not MIDI
Secondly, the Roland GR-55, while it does contain MIDI In/Out, is NOT A SOUND MODULE. Therefore, the idea of using it to produce sound via MIDI - is simply not what the unit does. As Roland Synth user for years, I consider this an unfortunate reality that it does not, considering that earlier Roland guitar Synths can function as sound modules via MIDI.
Thirdly, in the last part of your video you are demonstrating my point. You show the cable plugging into the 13 PIN GN Input Jack - NOT MIDI.
Thanks MrKnowItAll. GK-3 is not a MIDI pickup. Graph Tech calling their Hexpander a MIDI unit adds to the confusion. You know that. I know that. Everyone who uses Roland's gear knows that. Other than reading out loud what was written on the packaging, I consciously never explicitly called any of the above a MIDI pickup
What else can you not buy in Germany? You poor souls. You have no idea.
