- FM synthesizers are known for being difficult to program, but they don't have to be. The Elektron Mode:Cycles makes sculpting your tone easy and fun. It's essentially a stripped down version of the company's popular Digitone synthesizer, but stuffed inside the budget-friendly form factor of the Mode:Samples. Of course, some sacrifices were made to get the price down to $299.
FM Synthesis explained:
• FM SYNTHS in under 4 m...

Cool to see a big tech channel talk about such a specific instrument.
Hands down best Model:Cycles intro and review.
This has to be the most in depth of a review I have seen on this channel before. Absolutely love that the box was used to actually construct the BGM used for the video - gave the review so much more depth! Absolutely stellar job there man, keep it up!!
Thanks. We actually did the same with the Model:Samples review, but failed to call it out.
Think you need to check out Loopop for a comprehensive review ,this skirts over it .
They should really have used the decay knob as a combined attack/decay control. Center position: Attack and Decay at zero. Turn to the right: Decay increases. Turn to the left: Decay and Attack increase equally. This would be sufficient for 99% of usecases.
TheSlowGrowth or just press function and twist decay, and this turns it into an attack
No, because holding down func+decay already has the feature of changing the decay of all machines at once.
good design
Do heaphones with mics work with this groovebox? Spec wise?

I’ve never played the other Elektron machines but this is one of the most fun and addictive pieces of gear I’ve ever owned. And it also compliments my Minilogue XD, Microfreak and JX-03 perfectly.
Just got one to complement my monologue xd 😊
Agreed on the velocity sensitivity. Very stiff.
Does this thing has nice cowbell sounds similar to 808s?
does this hardware product only have 6 tracks at the same time or are others added as happens with the roland mc 101?
can I use its effects if I add a hardware synth or another drum machine?
There are six tracks only however parameter locks provide far more flexibility than would first appear.
There is no audio input.
Make it Beige!
Wrong: An operator is an oscillator + amplifier + frequency (pitch and ratio) and this resulting waveform modifies the next operator and this output can either modify another or be output as audio.
You're using a narrow definition, he was using a broader one
Hi
It's nothing like the Digitakt apart from the fact it's FM and uses the electron seq. It's like saying a dog is a stripped down version of a horse.
"Fair or not...". LOL.
better launch OT mk3
Or?
No filter? WTF are they thinking no apreggiator
Ahhhhhh
Fm has no filter
But i believe the lfo function has the hp lp option
@@manfburge598 Yeah it does but a filter would be nice! Nerveless ive just ordered one as they look fun for jams...
@@NathanChisholm041 can you controll the lfo wave
Like big waves and small or non waves
And set up where the non wave in filter start
And controll it manualy?
I want to know it
Fm synthesis doesn’t use adsr envelopes, that’s probably why there isn’t one.
Cellardore Productions Not true, have a look at the DX200
@@emrah1986 You are correct. I realised my mistake later on.
Adsr on FM?? 😂
I fucking hate that they made them both completely different colors. Like what? White would have kept things clean
FM Radio rulez! This medical device can do wonders for your heart, colon, and sweat glands. Highly recommended over the Model: Apples. Combine this with an Akai Timber Wolf and make a legendary album.
far out, man
@@WillyJunior i appreciate your comment
i cant think of worse sounding machines
Dont compare this to that garbage man the cycles is nice for the price
