Composed by David Wise. Recreated by me. This was made possible by locating the original instrument samples from workstation keyboards and drum machines before they were put into the game and rebuilding the soundtrack from the ground up, applying some modern mixing techniques along the way to lift the veil of 16bit compression and create an updated listening experience. Part of a project to restore the entire DKC series soundtrack. Follow me on Twitter for more updates: / princesamlet
Sound sources:
Korg Wavestation, Roland R-8, Harmor, Roland S-770, Ensoniq TS-10 - Hry
The OST for DKC2 is surprisingly mature and moody for a game about two chimps jumping on crocodiles. Rareware was ahead of their time. They were like the Pixar of videogames.
The Pixar of video games is the most perfect description of Rare
What if Rareware was bought by Disney instead of Microsoft…. Just think of the character rights that rare made in rare can make games for PlayStation Xbox and make Nintendo look bad for getting rid of Rare. Just think how Disney can advertise characters from Rareware and make them as a advertise show or movie reality…… or if Disney bought rare and it came up with a system for rare A ultimate console but still had the fundamentals of a Nintendo and PlayStation setup. I’m just saying this because Disney got money like that and they all about success. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 but I could be wrong. Lol
Well, the music is moody like naturally, and when lonely, deep, sensitive or obsessed, such a mood can carry someone away like they're in a different world. And chimps are natural, as are beautiful environments, such as forests and beaches. And since chimps are intelligent creatures, and the Kong characters are smart, intelligent, creative and communicate just like humans, and games and cartoons often have animal characters that are just as smart, etc like humans, it's how designers come up with such ideas for such games. It's a combination of the human mind and using nonhuman characters who are smart like humans. As well as entertainment.
David Wise didn't have to go this hard for DKC2, but I remain grateful that he did.
Agree and even sophisticated when done as jazz czcams.com/video/GtSS9m59Mwk/video.html
Every night I pray for another jammin jammer in my sub box
Wow
"did you hear Jesus turned water into wine?" Reply: "did you hear what jammin sam turned dkc into?"
Still praying
Soothing for the soul.
That game would still stand outfor good graphics.
Right? They're just so well designed. Kinda dark and moody but still colorful and cartoonish
Jammin' Sam Miller, I think higher quality graphics wouldn’t look as good as the gritty and dark yet beautiful and nostalgic graphics that are used in the games, however, your restored versions of the songs or themes from these games you have on your channel are great.
Nope
@@fatmario8244 I couldn't agree more. I hear a lot of people whining about not getting a DKC remake compilation like the crash N-sane trilogy. I'll admit, I was one of those people for a short while
But some games just don't need to be remade. Why mess with a good thing? All that matters is that they're kept accessible. Which is why I'm VERY happy that DKC 1 and 2 are now on NSO. If Nintendo/retro studios ever want to remake these games, I'll check it out. I think we should all just happy to have them on the switch in any capacity though.
These are beautiful games, through and through.. They deserve to be cherished and loved. The folks at rare put their hearts and souls into making these games. The least we could do is just be happy to have them on switch, and play the crap out of them. And, of course, support sam here so he can keep working his magic. I hope David Wise is watching at least some of his vids, with a big bright smile.
Personally I think they don't look as good when they're not with a CRT filter and they're on a HD display. It's just too pixelated, they look great in the way they're presented here with the filter though. At least the Switch has some sort of CRT filter even if it's not the best.
Yay! Hearing this as a kid I was mesmerized by how melancholy and chill the sound was. I remember pausing the game in order to listen to it completely/ (the last bit) which I seldom heard due to the fact when entering a bonus room, it reset the track.
Haha I would do this too! On many levels. I could appreciate the beauty and joy these games brought me as a child. Sometimes I still have DKC dreams! Lol my dreams are brief and scattered though 😔 more dream games
This started my guitar journey. Just learning these melodies by ear 😆
man, this makes me feel like a kid again... sitting in a car on a trip to see family in Florida, earbuds plugged into my GBA SP, listening to forest interlude off of DKC2 GBA's sound test... of course the GBA version isnt nearly as deep in terms of the bass, but man, even on the GBA this was an incredible piece of music
and hearing it now, with this incredible deep bass and ambiance... i could cry 🥺💖
true
I still can't believe how hard the DKC2 OST goes. It's absolutely mind-boggling. Masterpiece after masterpiece after masterpiece. Bravo, David Wise.
Cried to this for 2 straight minutes. Thank you
Dave Wise is a frickin' genius...nice restore!
Nostalgia super overload. man this music brings back memories of the good old days of the 90s
I could listen to this all day every day ty :)
このbgm聴くとあの頃夢中になって遊んでた思い出が蘇ります。thank you.
There's something about this video that every night when I go to bed, I sometime watch youtube or read a book or browse social media, but somehow, at the end of every night when I start to get tired, I always come back to this video, and every time I do, it makes me happy. Thank you for your amazing work, no matter how many times I listen to it, it makes me happy
😀😄😁
weeb overload
Is it weird to say that it's not hearing this music in 2020 as nostalgic but the intended composition of the music itself evokes a sense of nostalgia. Oddly enough this wasn't my favorite song from dkc2, nor the lava stage. To me it felt out of place in my kid brain. Yet now as a adult, I appreciate these tunes more. Hearing the forest theme with fresh ears just evokes a familiar sound like it was always meant to sound ancient and whimsical.
As a parent I never paid attention to vgm - too busy trying to get the kids off! - but now that they are all grown, we have been really appreciating tbe genius of vgm, especially as jazz czcams.com/video/GtSS9m59Mwk/video.html
oh absolutely, I never played Donkey Kong Country but I do love the music, it definitely has that atmosphere, beside it just being relaxing af.
Objectively the Best forest theme for any video game ever. Fight me.
All I can say is you better watch out for Super Mario RPG fans when it comes to a fight lol
Nice work! David Wise is a talented composer. Thank you for enrich his work.
He’s only a genius if you spell it backwards take out the i,u,e,g and add an a-k-e
Jk, but he isn’t a genius
@@djjnh6141 it’s true
You may be right
@@djjnh6141 what are you playing at?
I don't even know, I completely forgot I said this
😭Was waiting for the extended.
❤ you're doing amazing!
Cai tomar bo cu
Reminds me when I used to get stoned.. everything sounds so clear and distinguishable. Especially on the entrances. Excellent song!
For some strange reason DKC music has the ability to make me nostalgic for times that i wasn't even alive for. Its so amazing how something like video game music from before my birth can make me feel old. IM ONLY 16.
Thats the magic of DK2 Ost, its like to be in a beautiful fantasy World...
You should play it. Rock solid game and one of the best of the 16bit era
@@darthtripedacus1agreed 100%, Mid late 2004 baby and I just started to continue my quest for 102% in dkc2, best decision yet and the music kept me going. I played a lot of classic games as a child and played this game in 2016 but it took me 8 years to play this game properly. I would say it’s 100% worth it, but it’s very difficult (but fun) 🤩
Me too, man. I'm stuck on Bramble Scramble, and yet I feel such nostalga for this. Just shows how amazing David Wise was with this soundtrack.
Blew my mind when it got to the finish. Never knew this had an ending lol
Music is so powerful. David Wise is a genius, he truly lives up to his name. Donkey Kong 2 was a true gem, something I enjoyed as a kid but didn't really understand how great it really was. Sometimes the stars align and we get something really amazing. This is it! :) As they say in Step Brothers, never lose your dinosaur. That kid is still a part of you, he/she is still inside of you. He/she always was. He/she will always be there. All you need to do is to channel that energy, and you will be that child again. Climbing those ropes. :)
The work you do is really incredible. Can't wait to see this channel continue to blow up so you can get more of the recognition you deserve. No doubt that these tracks are near and dear to countless people's hearts and I think so many people would appreciate what you are doing here.
You are amazing, my favorite track finally restored! Thank you so much, a great opening to this year!
Happy New Year, sir
I absolutely love these restorations - incredible work :)
You can close you eyes and do a mindfulness meditation on this song. Beautiful.
Howdy dude! These have been some of the hardest months for me lately - I've been falling asleep to these Restored mixes from you lately, and it works like genuine magic. Thank you so much for uploading these - I really appreciate it! Helps all the worries fade away.
Thanks for this, it sounds amazing! David Wise made such beautiful soundtracks, but DKC2 is definitely my favorite.
This is very peaceful and inspirational! Thank you for restoring old music.
I hear all the sounds from the enemies even through the sounds are mute. Like the ghost ropes
You have no idea how long I've waited to hear this song redone. Thank you.
Wished these adventures never stopped... But kept evolving, promulgating, ever changing. At least the memories don't change...
Jammin' Sam Miller, you are absolute king among men for restoring these songs so beautifully
This in my opinion is the best one yet
thanks for the restoration, this is classic, you are a legend!
This remaster is incredible. Thank you.
The best soundtrack of game DKC 2
No doubt this is the best remaster I've come to expect Sam.
When i am old i will listen to this and my life will flash before my eyes....
I still would like to see a symphony perform these songs. Id die of pure joy.
Your work is absolutely spectacular.
Damn homms, awesome job!!! U bring my childhood back!!!!! Thanks!
I put this this video on several times in my life in order to listen to it for some few minutes during the day. But I can never hit stop button. Then, I end up listening to all the extended version. Of course, you Sam did a marvellous job!
I know this game came out in the 90s, but as someone who is a 2005 kid, My auntie still had her SNES at her house and when i was younger, i played this game at her house, now as an 18 year old..I wanna go back to those days..
Also to the kids who grew up in the 80s and 90s, yall were right, life during the time this game was out was SOO MUCH BETTER, and thats what my mom says, i agree with her :]
The complex percussion in this one is awesome. Feels so good to listen to.
Outstanding job Sam!
Long overdue, finally subbed 💕
My childhood. Keep on doing this lovely work mate
...What better way to celebrate the new year than jammin' out to Jammin' Sam Miller's greatest hits! Awesome stuff!
Jesus vai comer seu vu
There was a time back then wishing we could see this game looking really nice like your video's icon picture
They have game systems that could handle that now I'm sure
Estaba loco David Wise, en defintiva a crear esta obra de arte.
truly a remarkable and emotionally satisfying piece of music.
Excellent job. Thank you for sharing!
feel like DKC ost's supposed to get me emotional but this shit been calming me down lately
Thank you sir you are doing an amazing work
Sim (meme do will Smith)
nice job, thanks for everything
I can literally hear every one of those enemies in my head lol.
There are no words to describe how perfect this is.
This makes my eyes water. Thanks. :)
Sick track
yes the song is soo good and great job on the restoration, but the gameplay really shows what an amazing game this was, the little trick at the beginning to wait for more goodies, all the different enemies with different attributes, and the overall aesthetic for the level. A+++
Man you make a great job! 👌🏻✨💯
Absolutely love that you use images from the old game guide books for thumbnails. I used to carry them with me everywhere when I was a kid and try to draw all of pictures in them.
Thank you! This is _so_ nostalgic! I can almost hear Kloaks' cackling . . . It's PERFECT for a foggy night! It's foggy right now, which is rare! I love it! ☁
Amazing!! i love this
Your doing God's work with this one! Love It!!
this song brings me back to the times of no worries, the time of adventure and opportunity. the soundtrack to our childhood
This is the 2nd best song in DKC2!
Wonderful music and memories flowing! That's truly a restoration of a time, where it was simpler. Kids still played on the streets freely, with wooden and sometimes mechanic toys, and not cellphones. The 90s untold stories were registered on the memories of the Genesis and SNES generation.
This song was ahead of its time.
This video just made me cry. So many good memories from this my chilhood. Thanks Dk2
absolute tranquility
Busqué música relajante y llegué aquí. Me recuerda mi infancia allá por el año 1995; en estos momentos sólo quisiera tener un super nintendo conectado a un televisor Goldstar de 14" y ser feliz nuevamente. Saludos.
its amazing how something so beautiful was ever made, Thank you david wise., I also always wondered what made the sound at .43
Thanks for stay around.
Very beautiful this song
My favorite song of all DKC trilogy 😍😍😍
Something about this classic games amazing music is so catching ❤
This doesnt seem to fit a forest theme, and yet its one of the greatest ive ever heard.
Thank you, Dave.
In my professional opinion....... yeah cuz I'm a professional... but in my little humble opinion I think this is a labor of love that really does bring forth what we all felt in the music the first time we played this game. Hey thanks for your hard work I'm a subscriber now and I'm looking forward to the rest of the album!
The same feeling of fall in love.
Absolute blessing
I can hear the "Ha Ha Ha!" And the sound of the ghost ropes when I close my eyes. Brilliant restoration!!
I was listening to this and started a video in another tab. I then realized, this is one of the only songs I can listen to at full volume while watching a talking heavy video. I tried with the original version of the song, and it was a little harder to understand the video. I'm not sure what you did in the mixing to make it not interfere with speech, but this is perfect background music.
WE'RE MAKING KYAWTHUITE WITH THIS ONE 🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥
YEA
never find a video that sols rng found a music from and comment this.
Underrated track. Shit bangs.
This music feels so damn nice..... :)))
This is what true passion looks like.....
Totally masterpiece.
The music gives me Super Mario World Castle Music vibes
This is fire 🔥
Waiting for the ghost to laugh at the beginning
This music is therapy.....
probably my favorite
Seu trabalho é incrível! Parabéns!
When the soundtrack of a video games causes people to write deep introspective comments about the simplicity of childhood. This song really does invoke such a well of emotion for me.
Oh my god. How can there be so many masterpieces of soundtrack in only one cartridge? After all there are 3 games but the vast majority of DKC2 soundtrack is a masterpiece
Kyawthuite song
With a sad story
Once in a thousand year in the deepest part of the forest
The best of bests!
This game is a masterpiece in all sense. Recently i got 2 copies of this game because the copy of my childhood belonged to my uncle and he sold his copy
Perfect!
Simplesmente Perfeito!!! Bom Trabalho!!
