So many want to knock Taylor Swift for not being authentic or whatever word seems to fit on a particular day. Why not give her credit for wanting to pay her respects to a classic song by a classic artist? She appreciates Tom Petty. And I respect the hell out of her for that. She's a talented artist. So was Tom. He will be missed. Rip Tom Petty.

@@ellabelladani well, thank you…She obviously had so much talent, and could back it up with her voice. I actually have followed her since she started. My daughter’s guitar teacher left around 2003 or so…to play with her. He apparently didn’t last..but, you could tell she had it.

I love taylor's music, i was so happy when i saw she covered this as i love tom petty too, any one putting hate at least she's trying to bring this kind of music back to this generation instead of 1D or Justin Bieber.

I'm actually pretty impressed. Don't like all of what Taylor does but think that this is a pretty good cover/tribute to a classic. I think Tom would be just fine with this.

I love tom but this is a great young version...that's the whole point of good music: to live on and hopefully be embraced by the next generation. At the end of the day I think it is fantastic that modern artists are covering amazing songs such as this, if it continues, hopefully someone will pick up a guitar and create more amazing songs. Not a major Taylie fan, but she has a sweet little voice and this is pretty adorable :) Glad you can hear the bassist in the mix, that's the part I've always loved to hum along to since I was a little kid. Good to see a "star" (as opposed to an Artist, stars have wider-ranging appeal) paying homage to the true talent her nation has been home to.
Now, let's hear her cover an Offspring tune! Lil' Taylor would be lovable singing The Meaning of Life, or even Bad Habit (She is, after all, an American Girl!) :)

I love Tom Petty and no one could beat the original, but this isn't bad. I was happy to hear she covered the song and I was happy with her version. I really like Taylor's voice and her style. I think people are being too harsh. It's possible to see the differences between the two and still appreciate both.
