As a lifelong musician who has opened for many major acts I just want comment to people who seem to discount cover bands as something less than legit. Let's go back in history to see what big rock stars started as cover bands; Elvis, the Beatles, Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Nazareth, the Rolling Stones........shall I continue? Cover bands play covers because they are influenced and paying homage to the musicians who inspired them, and because they want to play good songs that everyone already likes. It is also a sure sign of a musician's ability and experience to be able to copy another musician's song accurately. As a musician I am blown away by F&F's ability to nail cover songs every time, plus sneak in their own variations on a song. People who criticize cover bands obviously don't know what they are talking about. Rock on F&F.
Tim says the whole point of a cover band is to do your own interpretation.We've already heard the original why copy it exactly? He puts a lot of effort into arranging,making best use of this bands' talents.
OK, where do I start with this issue? I've played in cover bands since the 60's, and guess what, most people like hearing songs they like done by cover bands. I have yet to see a local band that played only their original music who didn't suck as musicians. And local bands that play only their original music typically aren't capable of playing cover songs. Why? Because they suck as musicians. Tim Purcell has my complete admiration. Not only is he a top notch musician, but he 's a great band leader. Running a band is a delicate balancing act. You are working against logistics, money, personalities, capabilities, and the local live music market. And 50 million viewers can't be wrong. Keep playing covers Tim, we like it.

If we wan't to hear Tim's originals he puts them on Patreon because he doesn't feel they're "eligible" by his standards to post on CZcams .

Every symphony orchestra is a cover band, and every symphony orchestra director interprets the opus at hand in his/her own way. Most cities have one.
I like that Maggie pulls out her Rocker voice for this one and once again lets us all in on the breadth of her talent.

I am totally blown away by these special musicians.
The foxes looking great, smiling, having a good time, and singing great as always. Fossils their usual awesome selves too.
The sound engineer gets props for bringing this out in spite of all the traffic in the background.
Bandleader Tim Purcell has help on the board, but he's the designer and mixer. He's a wizard at recording and mixing these outdoor performances and bringing them to us sound as though they could have been done in a studio. And as for the recent stuff that *was* done in studio . . . !!!
nothing like watching a good cover band at dusk in the summer outside on a beautiful evening. i can almost smell the summer in background of this video

This is the best cover band I have ever heard. The vocals are terrific - no matter who is singing lead or harmony. The musicians are top notch professionals and there is not a weak link among the entire group. I hope the venues appreciate what they have when they book this band.
This was 9 years ago.They're just doing the studio recordings these days.
I say "ditto," but I appreciate the way they keep it going despite all their separate lives. I think it's a work of love, which is always the best!

These girls harmonize together so beautifully. A well talented band also, from lead guitar, to bass, drums, this band has that rock factor.
I though maybe they were sisters. Usually only siblings can be that tight naturally. Like Larkin Poe once was.
Rick Coleman Siblings seem to have the best ability to harmonize. My brother and I were a good example. Harmonizing isn't always easy but is great fun and pleasant

I've been a working musician for almost fifty years, playing everything from country to blues to fusion jazz. I know talent when I hear it. This is one butt-kicking band. Vocals are their strong suit, though their musicianship is not too shabby either. Congrats for putting a great band together, and putting the work in.
Agree my friend . Wasted talent . My Dad was a sales rep. for Capital Records 1957 - 1969 . So I grew up listening to a variety of music . Of course my favorite was the Beatles. Just hate this band didn't make it big time . Having a bad day ? Just put some headphones on and listen to this . Amen .

It takes hard work and dedication. It would be nice to see that rewarded, but, as so often happens in the pop/rock..talent doesn't always win through when it comes to fame and fortune and the history of pop/rock is littered with examples of *that* too! ;O)

Maggie and Sammie voices are great on this song. I was never a Petty fan but this version changes that for me.

This band should be an opening act for famous group. I enjoy listening to the two ladies when they sing in harmony.
They have opened for The Band Perry, Wet Willie, and the reconstituted Creedence Clearwater Revisited. Wet Willie recorded their 2012 live album from that show.

I love Petty’s music and this is a great version IMO. The tempo is a bit slower (but not slow) and a female voice on it is great to hear - especially Maggie’s.
I can't grasp how a live set can sound this good.

You can do wonderful things when you record feeds off the soundboard. Consistently the F&F engineering at the venues is outstanding!
Tim records and remixes many of the songs in the studio, and matches the soundtrack to the live video. Still awesome though!

@@avecgaz6011 In their Q&A, Tim talks about how they record the sound for these videos. Multi-track live, then mixed later and synced to video. Standard stuff, of which I am very familiar having been in video production since the analog days. No studio re-recording.

Great band, Tim is the leader, the girls are beautiful and have perfect harmonies, but the bass player is the beat of the band, fantastic!

I must have watched and listened to this video close to one hundred times in the last few years. These guys were/are tight. This performance kicked ass. Everyone in the band was on their top game. They make it look so easy. From bass and drums providing the back bone right on through to Toby's kickass solo on that Gibson Night Hawk. I just watched it five times in a row to check out all the band and sound management. Not to leave out the person who did the video and editing. I think this is my favorite F&F song. I would love to see and hear them recreate this ten year old performance again.

If this is 9 years ago, these "foxes" are about 14 at the time. I have mixed emotions once I remember Sammi and Maggy are all grown up now but were sweet little girls for lots of these videos. Beautiful, musically proficient and gorgeous, but little girls.

Being a big TP fan, I hate to admit that this was one of my least favorite F&F songs at first, but being a mere mortal I can`t resist the singing sirens, now I love it !! You girls and guys are all so fantastic, F&F literally was the best thing to come out of the pandemic for me and many others. This was the volume I was speaking of in reference to "Vacation" and "Our Lips " LOVE hearing a girl's vocals on this cover and great unison ONCE AGAIN! Nice job to the Fossils again too.

I love the way you guys make me feel. There's something so genuine and comfortable in your sound AND your live interaction. Gives me the goosies. I know you've been doing this for a long time but I'm so glad I finally found you. I'm 74 years old but you make me feel 24 again. Ain't memory great?
What always amazes me is that F and F "parking lot performances" are infinitely better than nearly all of the live cuts from the original bands (and most studio versions). In my experience, that's nigh impossible.

Good grief, where the hell are they playing? In the Walmart parking lot? They are certainly one of the most versatile cover bands I've ever heard. Their Suite: Judy Blue Eyes is over the top.
+Jack Weiss My thoughts exactly. About the best cover band I've heard and they end up playing on the patio of a taco joint. Poor marketing, but then again the music industry has changed so much that finding them their niche would be difficult.

They were not in a parking lot it was the out door patio of a casual taco resturant. Itj ust so happened to face a parking lo.t I have not been here but have been to places and micro brews which have the same type of outdoor set up.
You cannot go too far as a cover band--gotta have your own songs, too. That said, they are pretty damn good at the covers, and their Suite: Judy Blue Eyes is indeed amazing.
